Orbital - Chime (12" version)

Музыка

Absolute Classic! Brilliant debut anthem from Orbital (AUDIO ONLY), originally had a limited release on Oh-Zone in 1989, then re-issued on Pete Tong's FFRR label. HIGH QUALITY AUDIO!!
Please Note - because KZread didn't allow the full 12-minute version, I had to edit it down to comply with the 10-minute limit
**If there are other classic 12" dance records you would like to suggest I upload then just let me know and I'll see what I can do. Infiltrate202**

This masterpiece was made by Phil and Paul Hartnol, two brothers from Sevenoaks in Kent. They made it in their bedroom when they were attending Wilderness School for Boys. We all used to go to a Youth Club called Raileys in Sevenoaks. Lovely guys. Banging tune when it came out and still not lost its touch. Amazing work.

When life is dull and boring and work grinds down on me ... this is the special place in my brain I retreat to: a silly grin, a bobbing head and relentlessly tapping feet are the physical evidence I am there. In my mind I am dancing with utter abandon and joy.

This tune always takes me back to the early nineties and the debauchery of that time. I lived for the weekend back then. No sleep and nothing but raves, clubs, ecstasy and dancing all weekend. So many great memories. I used to go to work Monday morning after being out all weekend on it with no sleep and deal with it easily but these days 3 nights of partying fucks me up for about 2 weeks so I rarely do it, these days I'm just a piss head and part time pot head when I fancy being rebellious and naughty!!!

Its hard to describe what this record meant when it was released. It changed everything, changed the mood, upped the ante. From one set of styles, this came out and re-set the compass. It was inspiring. It sounds absurd today, but the feeling was that nothing was impossible in terms of new music being released and spreading everywhere. All the rules and artificial boxes seemed to be dissolving. Artists all over were making strange music and releasing it and selling it. Did you know that the original release of "Chime" was mastered from a cassette? Even the means of making music was changing; all the rules were being thrown out, and not to the detriment of the music, but to its improvement, an increase in the number of voices, releases and people with ideas being heard. This was finally "it". The music industry was finished, and nothing would ever stop people from hearing what was out there ever again. And then... it stopped.

How does a vacuum exists containing a pressure system without any solid physical separation between the two? The vacuum itself must also require containment. The claim that opposing pressure systems can maintain their respective properties without solid separation is idiotic. It defies applied, observable objective reality and yet it is professed to impressionable children to be truth of their origin and existence. It's child abuse to rob children of their psychological and emotional foundation by imbuing beliefs into them that contradict their common sense. Gas pressure requires containment, yet in the case of Earth, cult priests of pseudo science are preaching a belief in something that defies reality. I can't find any practical demonstrations for this claim, just dishonest illogical and zealous muppets that push it.

I came here to listen to this great tune and found all the sort of amazing people I used to rave to this with. The nights where you'd be out raving in some field in the middles of nowhere completely off your face, lost your friends and end up being adopted by some people you've just met sharing ciggies and water. You'd then see your friends stumbling around and you'd make a massive group, dancing, sweating happy and, just for that night, totally FREE. I wish I could go back just for one night to feel that feeling and hear these tunes and meet you ravers again. Thanks for the good vibes :)

I had already been immersed in the local dance scene in my hometown. This mixtape opened the WORLD of dance to me. I am forever grateful. Orbital is the G.O.A.T.

1989 Great time to be alive. I grew in the early LA warehouse acid house scene. Call a number before the event, get directions to where you purchase your ticket, then drive to the actual location. $20 and free beer past 2am cut off and no ID check, I was 19. Also there really wasn't much of a "rave" culture yet, we were all still individuals it was a variety of all different types of people.

I met them 4 years ago as had backstage passes for a festival they were headlining. They signed my copy of the Yellow Album (or Green Album if you prefer ) and we chatted for a good while as I work for radio. Phil told me they got into electronica through hearing bands, being fascinated by the sounds the machines made and then going out and trying to procure something similar. He was evidently pleased when I told him Chime had exactly that same effect on me at 15 years old and began my lifelong love for electronic music and especially Orbital (I'm now 43). True pioneers as well as being very personable chaps. I love them and their music and feel lucky to have grown up when I did. One love!
