    I had this book on pre order and I’ve just cancelled it due to this review 😬 after his last book I said I was done with him. But then once I heard this one was from a male perspective I decided I’d give him one last chance. But no I cannot deal with the ridiculous stupid endings and a million twists. I’m over it

    I pretty much only read him for KZread at this point lol it makes me upset because I really liked his older books. This one was just such a drag only to get to an underwhelming ending.

    Thank you so much for this review! And for saving me some time lol I’ve read two Riley Sager books, The Only One Left and Lock Every Door (which seemed to be two of his most liked novels), and they were both just okay to me. I’m still trying to figure out my tastes since starting my reading era earlier this year, and I’m feeling like thrillers just aren’t for me. They’re just so underwhelming 99% of the time 😮‍💨 Going to focus on horror and it’s sub-genres moving forward 👻

  • @ReadingWithMeg

    Lock Every Door is my favorite of his personally. But I completely understand regarding thrillers. I like them from time to time now as something easy to read but they’re no longer most of what I consume like they used to be.

    After I loved The Only One Left, I was so looking forward to this book. I finished it earlier today and I agree with everything you said in this! Just repetitive boring crap! I feel like he has gotten so cocky at this point that anyone will read his books and no matter if it doesn't have any story then people will eat it up. But this was the worst book that I have EVER READ. If I hear or see "Hakuna Matata Dude" one more time I'm gonna scream and he overused it sooo much!! I felt like I was reading a parody of a Riley book. This was horrible.

  • @ReadingWithMeg

    @ReadingWithMeg

    Agreeeee! Idk what it is with him and the repetitiveness. He also said middle of the night constantly. I feel like he has a ghost writer or something because it’s so bizarre how bad his books have gotten.

    @@ReadingWithMeg I know he repeated middle of the night too much as well but not as annoying as the Hakuna phrase. Lmao a ghost writer writing about ghosts that don’t exist lmaooo. But seriously I went back and read some excerpts from The Only One Left and it’s so much better than this garbage. Why didn’t the detective question anyone or go to flashbacks of questioning suspects from that night? So stupid!
