“Justify those who died, for wearing the badge they’re the chosen whites” the song is about police brutality. The firsts parts it goes “some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses”, implying some polices forces are in the KKK.

It's not implying that some police is in the KKK, it's about the very real fact that the KKK specifically got members in the police force to help shape anti-black laws and enforce them, going back to the 1920s.

Rage is true hip hop. Iconic band.
The guitarist is mixed race - his father was the Kenyan ambassador to the US. The vocalist is primarily of Mexican/German descent, but he does have some African ancestry too I believe.
This riff goes SOOOOO HARD ... Tom Morello the guitarist makes his guitar sound like literally anything he wants, check out “Bulls on Parade” the guitar solo sounds like he’s scratching turntables but it’s all done on his guitar

Tom is one of the most under-rated guitarist. They got it all. When Zach was young he would go crazy up on that stage!!! I am going to see them next month. I can't wait!!!!

Zach de la Rocha was 21 - makes it even wilder 🙌
There are times in my life when blasting this song is 'music therapy'.
Vocalist/Rapper Zach de la Rocha is of Hispanic descent. Guitarist Tom Morello is half black. There are many hard rock/metal/punk musicians that are black. Check out Living Colour, Body Count, Bad Brains, and 24/7 Spyz. Other black musicians include Rocky George from Suicidal Tendencies, Dug Pinnick from Kings X, Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy, Lajon Witherspoon from Sevendust, Howard Jones of Killswitch Engage, and many others. Carla Harvey of Butcher Babies is mixed race as well.
Fun fact: In 2009 there was a petition in the UK to get this as the Christmas No.1 because people were sick of X factor winners dominating the Christmas No.1
I'm so excited about rage... hes mixed with a couple things
Jo Jo's pure love of music and openness to new things make this a great channel. His insight is unique and deep.
The 90s were a wild time. We were rejecting the mass consumerism of our parents and grandparents, while also rejecting the increasingly corrupt government. That even went for a kid like me; I was a cheerleader, student council president, was on homecoming court and dated the star football player, but I still rocked out on this vibe. It was a great era to be a teen.
Not to mention Tom Morello one lead guitar is on another level…. Pure genius
This will be the music of a revolution

I think Cult of Personality is even more relevant today than when it was released. At least in the United States yeah, it sure is! Got that clown out of office but he's still leading his cult Straight to Hell. Shame they want to take the rest of us with them
Great choice!!!
Went to their concert on a Utah farm in '96 and there were A LOT of cops on both sides of the stage... I guess they "expected" us to get violent. All of a sudden Zack (lead singer) ask the what the audience think's of all the cops and of course everyone boos. Next thing you know the band drops NWA's F@$k Tha Police and everyone erupts and the mosh pit explodes... Best concert ever!!!
Great reaction! The lead singers name is Zach De La Rocha and if you wanna hear him really rap he was on a song in 2020 by Run the Jewels titled Ju$t. He kills it on the feature and it's a good song
You need to check out living color cult of personality next if you're shocked that someone who's black which he actually isn't black is in a rock band but if you go to living color you'll find the whole band is black and cult of personality is another one of those songs that pretty much fits to what's going on in the world today
I remember buying their first CD in 92, to hear them again for the first time would be magical. Down Rodeo (RO-DAY-O as in the rich persons shopping area in Cali) - Pistol Grip Pump - Wake Up - No Shelter - Township Rebellion ....f it, their whole catalog - do lyric videos
I used to listen to this on my way to work every day at one point. Got me psyched up for the day

90's hip-hop and alternative rock was killing it back in the day on MTV. I will forever miss these days but having youtube to share and comment keeps these memories alive.
I remember hearing this when it came out and I was like 14. As others have said, it's as relevant today in the wake of the George Floyd killing as it was 30 years ago after Rodney King's murder. The more things change, the more they stay the same...
