RAF Jet Provost EIIR flypast practice 1968
In June 1968, as part of the celebrations for the RAF's 50th "birthday", 31 RAF Qualified Instructors flew a formation flypast in the shape of EIIR when viewed from the ground.
This film shows the chaps taxying, taking off, practicing & landing. The footage shows aircraft from 1 FTS based in Linton-On-Ouse , 2 FTS based in Syerston, 3 FTS based in Leeming & 6 FTS based in Acklington.
All these instructors were based at RAF Gaydon for about a week & practiced the formation from there. I assume the film was shot at Gaydon..

Truly mesmerizing . That's RAF Gaydon in Warwickshire , I recognize Edge Hill in the background . I was eight at the time and lived in Coventry . If only I'd been taken to see this but my Dad worked on aircraft all week and had probably had enough by the weekend.
Awesome - I can imagine it with noise! When we had a "proper Air Force"
david mather I was ground crew from 6FTS RAF Acklington, great week
