Hay all. Just to answer some questions on these modules. 868 Compatibility Radiomaster are selling the Bandit modules as 915 FCC version only, however they are fully 868 compatible without modification. You can either change the regulatory domain to 868 CE in the WiFi Web configuration or you can re flash them in the ExpressLRS Configurator to 868. The antennas are both 915 and 868 compatible out the box and you will still have the full RF power available. They will simply not legally comply with 868 LBT CE Regulations though as they have not been certified however the HW is fully compatible with the 868Mhz band. Bandit Full Module RF Power. There was a mod for the larger Ranger module that allowed for upto 2W of RF Power. Due to the different RF setup the Bandit does not have this same capability, in my testing you can push it to about 1.2w with tweaking the setting but that’s the maximum I have seen.

Since this is a competitor to TBS Crossfire, a comparison could be in order. For example, the crossfire receivers (only dealt with the micro and nano) have two extra channels that could be used to control landing gear etcetera directly from the receiver. And, you can use the SDA and SCL pads for GPS (never tried that though).

I wish there was a more dumbed down version of a numbering system or even use of change of font color to yellow then red on the LQ or RSSI numbers to signify when to turn the craft around - instead we are told to look at numbers that are not intuitive in terms of telling us link quality or rssi is too low. There should be a better system to inform the users when to start worrying about the link between transmitter and receiver. ELRS should focus on making the information more intuitive.

Don't really see a reason to replace my existing crossfire gear with this. OTOH for someone that's starting out with 900mHz this would certainly be worth considering. The cost (and availability!) of receivers will have a lot to do with this.

Nice to see more good 915 ELRS. I started in ELRS back with the DIY R9. I am using ELRS 2.4, but have switched back to crossfire for all my 915. The excitement with elrs abandoned the long range features that crossfire has baked in a long time ago. There are a lot of nice things in ELRS for all pilots in general, but the long range part has been neglected IMO. Yeah, elrs goes forever, but in LR flying it's WHEN you will fail safe, not if. If ELRS developed more LR features like backup rx power, dedicated GPS support on the Rx, beacon, etc. I might consider dumping my crossfire.

CRSF in this case is simply the protocol that the module uses to communicate with the transmitter (radio) that it is physically attatched to. It is a wired (as opposed to wireless) protocol. For the wireless link between the module and the aircraft receiver, then the ELRS protocol is used. The wired CRSF protocol has nothing to do with the wireless CRSF protocol. It is unfortunate that TBS named these two protocls with the same nomenclature. ELRS is a competitor to the wireless CRSF protocol, but does not intend to compete with the wired CRSF protocol used for the communications between the module and the radio.

Great options but still wont replace crossfire or kill crossfire for that matter. simple reason being ease of use crossfire wins every time and also consistency with hardware quality will still always be the same with crossfire where elrs have mixed hardware quality from different brands.. I have no doubt that the radio master rx are premium but still... also not dual diversity rx is a deal breaker.. so to say that this is a nail in a coffin for crossfire is a bold statement that many will disagree with..

Has anyone done any tests with this new module and rx’s in flight. I’m testing it with a br3 rx and having terrible results. 1/2km out and seeing -114dbm rssi and link quality alarms. Surprised it didn’t fail safe. Same test with br1 rx in same spot and held -70dbm and better. What’s up with this. Even quad sitting on bench seeing -80dbm on br3 and -10dbm with br1.

If you don’t know there was an error in some of the ELRS files that caused an issue. You need to reflash the receiver via ELRS configurator and select erase flash. WiFi flashing won’t fix this.

Such a shill for the ELRS industry. lol. I think Im sticking with 2.4gh, but its nice to see the option for 915 other than flashing a FRsky module. I have yet to FS in 2.4 on 250mw, but plan to go 1W instead of lowering my frequency

what is this all about? everyone that want, is now using great Happymodel ES900TX module, which does 1W, has nice heatsink and fan and does not cost a fortune. there is also great Namimno Voyager with nice LCD, that can do 2W. This radiomaster is not interesting by any means.

Radiomaster is on the blacklist of the eu customs and I will not get a radio master from the customs released if it has not the proper certificates Crossfire can be imported legally in the EU and can be sold there, but Radiomaster must have something missing cause their lbt implementation is not good enough for a valid EU certificate. And the customs guy was not happy about the power modulation of the transmitter cause way too much what would be legal. And the chinese import hubs in the netherlands will again be happy to pull these radiomasters and others out of the shippings. My last 1 MW elrs went missing there while I also got an invitation from the local customs that I had tried to import illegal wifi goods without proper certificates. I had the same issue 5 years ago and now it is back again at least since summer. And no, they did no ship it back, but confiscated it as a proof. I do not believe that the UK is allowing it - and since then I had a lot more trouble with the customs since july or august when I ordered a series of speedy be flightcontrollers, each week one to avoid sanctions or a ban. Before that aliexpress and others were able to deliver within 7 to 1o days even 10€ parts and pieces door to door. Now it takes ages when it comes to the EU customs in Amsterdam and sometime here where the item can sit ages in the shelves. I would be very carefull to order this from inside the EU - even though it looks brillliant

This is exactly the problem with the hobby. You sink $100's and possibly $1,000's into a technology and then the latest flavour without major reasons to switch technologies appears. Everyone jumps on the bandwagon expressing the second coming is here. A couple of years later the next 'great' technology appears and the process starts all over again. I'm a Crossfire long range adopter and will not be switching ever. I will just drop out of the hobby and find somewhere else more stable to spend my money on, if I can't get replacement parts. You are great, and your hobby knowledge is superior to anyone out there, but this sort of nonsense statement just perpetuates the issue and falls into the trap that the companies want you to fall into.
