It was really useful, it helped me much. Wish you made tutorial for another great song of Radiohead - Reckoner.
Hey Paul just an update. 4 months ago I decided to learn guitar and start from one of my favorite Radiohead songs. A few days ago I played the whole thing alongside the actual album version, and now practicing and refining it every day. Without you video I doubt it would ever happened. Thanks for the good work bro!
Thanks Paul. I began my guitar learning with a swear that I would not stop practicing even if God himself told me I'd never be able to perform a song in my lifetime. Spent three months play the intro, now slowly moving to the second and third verses. I'm finishing this song next year.

Just a little update. I can play the whole song at normal speed and sing along now. Still practicing every day and am going to play it in front of a crowd sometime next year, though I'm not sure it would be an enjoyable experience for the audience lol.

the recording at the beginning is so good it took me a bit to realize it wasn't the original Radiohead. thanks for the tutorials, really nicely done.
This is a brilliant breakdown of a pretty complicated piece. You are a talented musician my friend. This song is giving me a lot of joy to play so many thanks to you and of course Tom.

0:00 I misunderstood it was a real Radiohead track even though I know this is a video for tutorial/cover ... stunning!! Tutorial itself is really helpful as well! Thank you so much for sharing!

I dont know if you will respond but im curious and confused how to chords actually work, he says hes playing a G minor chord but it looks like a G sharp minor chord, can you help me, thanks
Very helpful, thanks for the tutorial:)
Thank you so much! You just earned a new subscriber!
Can you post a full instrumental cover [aka an extended version of what you did in the intro]? It was really good.
thanks so much for this
thank you so so much ! i';ll learn from you!

Nice job, thanks!
Thank you, Paul!
Thanks for this you are really good
Wow, man, you do some fresh tutorials!
This may be a huge question but how do the celestial pros from Radiohead know when to add those sus2/sus4/D over F#, etc. chords ? Since the song is in G#min are all those fancy chords a part of it as well? or are they transition chords that coincidentally sound good together? I've been writing music and i wanna expand my knowledge on this stuff.

The way Radiohead writes chords looks almost exactly to Neo-Riemannian theory. Which is this really cool idea that you can swing between chords very easily with shared notes (even if they're not in the same key). drive.google.com/drive/u/0/search?q=ScreenShot_20200824160054.png This shows how many notes in the intro are shared even if you don't know read sheet music you can very easily see there a bunch of shared notes. There's a really good video by Ben Levin where he talks about getting that Radiohead sound too if you want to check it out: kzread.info/dash/bejne/m42JwZShlqm2fZM.html

Idk if you found the answer in the last 2 years, but I've always assumed they implemented sus chords as "time earning" chords, since sus chords are neutral and sometimes very stable.
Fantastic work
I only have 12 frets to the neck with no cutaway so I just raised my tuning half a step up. Hope that helps someone! Brilliant tutorial ^_^

Gorgeous, you kick it dude. Gimme your Taylor instead my poor and rusty flat guitar i'm using. Keep the kickass tutorials. Cheers from France.👍
Nice video Paul! Would you make a chord progression analysis for this song? I hope you'll make it Paul! I really need the information for my own songwriting Keep up the good work!
awesome tutorial!
thank you captain!
Great video man
Thanks dude
Brilliant
Hi!! thanks for the tutorial, couldn't be more perfect!! I have a question, both the acoustic live version and the concert version are different from the original almost completely, can you explain to me why?
thank's a lot!
Samba!!! Great job!
i just started to learn guitar and forming the cord shapes is by far the hardest part for me. The picking pattern and structure where really easy to learn imo
Tysm bro
Thanks a lot.
Dear Paul thank you so much for this wonderfull video. I have to ask you a little thing: would you be so kind to write the chords of the second guitar in the acoustic version? Thank you in advance and don't stop make videos like this. Best regards.
Came here from the CR78 video version. Thanks Paul!!
Very Good your explanation!!! Thks!!! Loo Félix, from Brazil

just a tip some might find helpful, using the thumb for the bass can be easier on the e minor shape chords

please teach radiohead: LET DOWN from ok computer. thanks!!! U are the best!!!!!
Dude. Paul, thank you....any chance you could do the Thom and Jonny acousic of The Numbers???
More Radiohead please!
Gracias !!!!
thx
Can someone explained the augmented intro bit at the end at 12:50 roughly? It was hardly explained.
is it okay if i use m-i and thumb during the verse ? i found the ring finger pretty awkward.
Great play and lesson bro! Btw what string brand and gauge do you use for this ? And last but not least, a recording technique for acoustic guitar would be great! Cheers
greaatt dudee
please do a decks dark cover! including that awesome lead guitar outro which the tab on ultimate guitar does not include..
Very good Paul, thanks. I would leave out the capo though.
I'm having trouble transitioning to the chord on 13:20, can you tab that part? Thank you
I didn’t expect you to teach this song but I’m fucking glad
Great lesson. Can you please do "The Numbers" as well?
This is sooo coool! More Radiohead plzz! 😍
I'm not sure if you'd know, but are the live versions they've played this year (on tour and on the live music video released a day or so ago) played half a step down? If that's the case, can I just remove the capo and play how the tabs are written? Sorry for the amatuerish question, I hear a few different chords in the live versions and want to know if you're familiar with them.
What are you using to make the "scratching" sound? I want to use it for looping and covers.

John Lojo It's a sticker you get with a Strymon effect pedal. No special gear used here lol.
Hi Paul, thank you so much for this thorough tutorial. Radiohead has always been my favorite band, and it's so nice to find gifted guitarists who can help us play their songs ! The only thing I don't really understand is that the chords you have written over the tabs don't seem to match with them ? for example the first chord is G# / B / D# which makes it a G#m rather than a Gm - but then I might be wrong ;) Anyway, thanks again, subscribed !

Thank you! The chord names are named in relation to the capo (so the chord is named one half step lower). This also makes it easier to play the song without a capo. Good luck!
Thanks for the great video and tab. I really liked it except for counting the frets from the capo! There is only one open note in the whole song. The whole time I was reading I kept realising I was playing 1 fret too low and then having to constantly convert it my head was so annoying.
Hi, great job! Are you sure about the Csus4 (min. 10:07)? I hear a B played by the bass in Radiohead's song ("keep it moving..."). Could it be?
@PaulDavids
8 жыл бұрын
+Andrea Fasulo I listened to it again, and it's definitely a C. I agree, the bass is a bit vague and sometimes even ambiguous, but the guitar plays a Csus4 as shown in the vid! Cheers.

You were right about the B. On the Keep it moving line it's a G7 chord first inversion (similar shape just move your finger down one fret on the low E than the Csus4 shape he shows. A bit of a stretch but then again you can play it with the seventh fret of the low E, the open G, and the sixth freth on the B string) Great video nonetheless! :)
@MichaelEliran

Mind you also, there's also a lot of layering going on outside Thom's acoustic guitar, which causes a lot of the vague tensions surrounding the chords.

Did a little more digging (technically yes it is a C in the studio recording if you take into consideration the capo but), when Thom Yorke plays the song at the Latitude festival, he has a B in the bottom of the chord he forms at the line. Regardless of this, it's still the most thorough tutorial I have seen in a very long time.
Very useful, thank you :) Is the guitar a Taylor 114e?
I’m so confuse at the end because there wasn’t any tab!!!! I need help
Could you please make a Reckoner tutorial?
