I mean she saved frostpaw from death and warned her about a traitor too. I cannot wait for more content of curlfeather

YES! This is it! This is Curlfeather! Your take on her is just absolutely perfect. With all she had to put up with, she deserves to be angry with StarClan. Her desire to protect her family from them since all they've done for her is take, take, take. I love Curlfeather and your portrayal of her just makes me adore her more and more. Also just wanted to point out, while I know you did not write the song (GHOST my beloved), "Red" being the last color said before "These aren't the colors I should see" while showing Frostpaw, attacked and bloody, is just so perfect, intentional or not. Almost like Curlfeather herself is denying what's happened to her daughter.

I really love thinking about her thought process, going through her experiences and connecting them to who she turned out to be- I think the events of tbc would have influenced her beliefs a lot as well, but I didn't go into that in this one. I also love a flawed depiction of starclan, and if the writing team won't go into it [on purpose] I will

After seeing spoilers, Curlfeather has become a very interesting character. I feel like she’s one of the *few* background characters that actually became more aware of how Clan life is and how much it needs to change. I’m not excusing what she did but her frustration with RiverClan, as well as StarClan, makes sense. StarClan had plenty of opportunities to warn RiverClan, *and* the other Clans, about the upcoming dangers or get straight to the point instead of vague, half-baked answers/prophecies. And yet, the Clans continue to worship them in a blind matter as cats pay the price for things that are, in the end, out of their control. Curlfeather pretty much had nothing else left to lose after Jayclaw passed away. The whole video from start to finish is incredible and beautifully done. The way you captured the tone in the scenes really takes things home. Especially the heart wrenching scene where Curlfeather is begging StarClan not to take Jayclaw. It hurts that they’re not going to be reunited as one has his paws in StarClan and the other in the Dark Forest.

Thank you sssm!!!! I completely agree! Along with their unnecessary ambiguity, the amount of power they have over living cats could also easily be part of it. It's enough for the clan cats to blindly follow in anything they say, to exile cats without a second thought beyond 'starclan wants us to do this', or shun and punish cats for arbitrary rules made up long before any of them could have a say in or discuss it themselves, surrounding things that are often completely harmless. And despite Ashfur having been working separately to the rest of starclan in tbc, he was still a starclan cat, and it just hammers in how fallible they truly are, how they Do have the capacity to do terrible things, despite how they're typically viewed and talk about. And yet it's harshly looked down upon to question them in any little way. I think while the events of avos may have been formative for Curlfeather's beliefs, tbc would have truly sharpened them as she saw the cats around her allow the clans and cats to be torn down just for the will of starclan, cats who don't even experience or participate in the events they influence

Starclan cannot control death. So her begging them not to “take him away” meant nothing since they didn’t take him away.

i'm always a sucker for content that really delves into curlfeather's motives and psyche and just HER LIFE god this is so good!!!!!! the shot of splashpaw looking back at her at the gathering is my favorite part. i really wish there was more info about their relationship but for now i'm content just appreciating this gorgeous video

THIS GOES SO HARD. I love this complex portrayal/interpretation of Curlfeather and everything surrounding her, and the acknowledgement of her experiences far before the most recent arc - AND THAT FALLING SCENE??!!?! It’s delicious, absolutely stunning, I love how it gives the impression of a meteor entering the earth’s atmosphere, as if she fell from Starclan (more likely exiled but yknow) Anyways thank you for the food, I am nourished and my eyes are blessed

@@Rudymentarythis video actually led to me reading the references you listed in the description (I haven’t read the recent books oops) and honestly!!! It expands SO MUCH on her ambitions. At least in my mind, she went from being a cat driven by high ambitions and a desire to be leader, to a cat who realized she couldn’t raise her kits in a clan so vulnerable to rogue groups - she needed Riverclan to be strong, not only for her kits, but for the cats she’s lived with her whole as well. This doesn’t excuse her crimes, obviously, her actions damaged and will forever haunt Frostpaw and her siblings - but they were not done out of Curlfeather being a truly monstrous cat who didn’t love her kits. They were done out of desperation. Of course this is just my interpretation, but if this is the case, A++ characterization 💕

also coming back to say at 00:42, the switch from her being alone to her desperately clutching her kits is CHILLING, she thought for just a moment that she could move forward with Jayclaw and her kits, but of course, Starclan would never allow her to have such support and love in her life, so they took him. Now she has to make sure they can’t take her babies too.

Rudymentary. You did NOT have to do THIS good. But you did. And for that, I am very grateful. Thank you for gracing my eyes with this masterpiece.

Oh man, this whole thing is incredible, but I’ve got to note how absolutely haunting the scenes near the end are, with everyone spewing the vapor that forms starclan… i dont know much about the exact events in curlfeather’s life but it has the feeling of their backs being turned, while either begging or singing praises to a force that isn’t actually interacting or intervening with the tragedies and horrors on earth, except to take even more

@@Rudymentary I love the idea of her resentment towards Reedwhisker in particular being a result of him neglecting her, where instead he focused on his role as deputy. With the Kin attack only furthering her sour opinion on him as he couldn’t protect those kept prisoner, one of his main roles. It’s so juicy.

I like to think of him giving into Darktail's demands as a big loss of respect for him from her in particular- Swearing his loyalty to Darktail [twice!] while his murdered clanmates rot around him, and Curlfeather and Duskfur have to make their own escape. Obviously it's not a situation where he can really be blamed for it, but I like the idea of Curlfeather, who went through the same torture, blaming him for giving in when she and Duskfur stayed resilient until they managed to break out together

GOD your asc content is always so good, but I also wanna appreciate the accessible version in the description! as someone prone to seizures I think you're the first person I've seen to have an accessible version available, WHICH IS SO COOL? happy disability pride month and your interpretation of Curlfeather goes SO HARD

Curlfeather was right in saying Riverclan needed to change. Things started going downhill with Leopardstar and Mistystar just continued ruining RC. When it comes down to it Mothwing is right. They need to stop relying on StarClan so much. They treat StarClan like some sort of deity which is ridiculous. StarClan is made up of real cats who were all flawed in some way just because you died doesn’t mean you become a better cat. If they were prejudice when they were alive they’re going to stay that way in death. Why would you want to listen to that kind of cat? But I still don’t agree with everything Curlfeather did. Wanting change is good, manipulation and murder is not. Corruption breeds corruption. I don’t doubt her love for her kits for a second, yet what she did to Frostpaw was horrible. I so hope that Curlfeather is the one to take down Splashtail. It wouldn’t be redemption as much as poetic justice, he killed her, tried to kill her daughter and put a kill on sight order on her mother. Plus she created the monster it’s only fair that she be the one to take him out.
