RadExpand 5 Plus Review: Not Your Average Folding Ebike

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

RadExpand 5 Plus: alnk.to/eZGrXFr
The RadExpand 5 Plus offers some different features from other sub-$2000 folding ebikes. It has a torque sensor, a safe-shield battery, new color LCD display and is the Rad Power Bikes model we recommend for shorter riders.

What are you wearing under your helmet? Is it a good bike cap for summer, rain? If so send a link or info! Great review as always!!

I ordered this exact bike 2 days ago. Hopefully I’ll like it, but I’m not sure how I’ll lift it onto the bike rack. I’m 5’2” @ 120 lbs. It would have been good to hear what the woman riding the bike thought. In trying to choose an ebike I find most reviews are from a man’s perspective and they are very concerned about how fast the bikes are. For me comfort and quality are my biggest concerns. Plus ease of use. I’ll be upgrading from an iZip Vibe e3. Overall this is a very thorough review. Thank you!!

Does this or the Lectric XP Lite 2.0 feel more stable when you ride it?

Check with your local bike shop if it’s compatible, but I’m happy with the SR Suntour XCM HLO AIR SL 20 mine installed on my Mate City S folding bike after the spring n the original coil fork broke. The front end is taller due to its greater travel, thus affecting the folded size and riding posture, but I prefer a more upright posture anyway and it’s a much better suspension fork! It also supports my 230lb bulk, which apparently wasn’t true of the original cheap coil fork.

@@rexluminus9867 lmao I mean watts. But, if your right 5v means maybe 15watts max q-q. I was hoping for 65 watts or something to allow you to use the battery as a backup power source if you lost power for a day or two and needed to charge devices....

So you don't recommend this bike for anyone say, 5'10" to 6' or so?

I mean you can it just kind of depends on your inseam and how much you want that perfect amount of leg extension. Rad's site has some good details on fitment based on different heights that might be helpful. 5' 10" certainly more doable.

You can easily save $1,104 or literally a 58% off discount if you purchase a $795 OUXI V8 electric bike instead of the RadExpand 5 Plus.

Not a good value bike. It’s ok but you can get comparable specs cheaper.

Anything you're aware of with a torque sensor?

Hovsco HovBeta. Lists for $1,799, but currently $1,699. Similar value. Both are fat-tire folding e-bikes with torque sensors. 90Nm vs 60Nm hub motor, so significantly stronger. Also lighter at 66.4lbs with the 48V15Ah battery, though that’s without racks or fenders, so they may be close in mass and price once fenders and rear rack installed (can also attach a front rack, like the Expand). Its top assisted speed is 28mph vs the Expand’s 20mph, though I think the gearing is a too low for that speed (42 tooth chainring and 14 tooth small cog). I wish more affordable folding e-bikes equipped with both a torque sensor and throttle were available. I prefer the control a torque sensor provides vs a cadence sensor (the ones that set current by PAS level are better than ones that set a speed target, but neither is as good as a torque sensor ebike), and want a throttle for times I need the help.

True that! Just became aware of the Mokwheel Slate a few days ago. 20x3 tires, which is more my preference. Has taillight/brake light/turn signal clusters in the chainstays like Aventon models as well. I think it has a 500W nominal, 65Nm peak rear hub motor. Lists for $1799, but currently $1499. Supposedly in the process of being tested for UL certification. No claims of a potted battery. Any idea what customer service from Mokwheel is like?
