This is from a mockumentary called “The Confederate States of America,” and it shows what modern life would’ve looked like if the South had won the Civil War…… this is a commercial from that “world.”

Actually, learning to ride a bike on the grass was fairly common 70 or 80 years ago. The idea was the grass provides a softer place to land when you're first getting started; nearly everyone falls a few times. And once you can balance on grass, the road or sidewalk is even easier. Back in "the old days", this was something called "wisdom"; sadly it seems mostly relegated to the past now.

Yeah I learned to ride without training wheels a little tiny bit older than normal, at 8, and I still did my first few minutes of training in the grass. Probably about 5-10 minutes. Then my sister rolled me around holding the handle bar on the pavement sidewalk behind our school, and we had a medium sized hill behind the school. After a few minutes of dragging me around, her friends talked her into just pushing me down the hill. In that moment I then knew how to ride a bike lol. Dumb girls prob thought I was going to fall. Then they tried to play it off as “that’s the best way to learn.” Yeah, okay, lol. At least it technically worked for me anyway but I wouldn’t say thanks to them.

The black servant class didn’t exist when this advert was made so it’s pointless. Also if you or anyone is going to say that the white-black pay gap is down to racism the what explains the black-Chinese, black-Jewish, black-Korean, black-Indian pay gaps? Funny how almost every other ethnicity has done well.

This seems funny to today's generation. Back just a few decades in America a man was expected to provide for his family if he was physically able. Most moms weren't employed outside the home (accept during war time). A man who didn't provide for his own was considered a "gigolo" and other man looked down on him. That's history and along with spankings this mindset in long gone in this country.
