We are considering leaving the UK. For years we have been insulted, threatened and suffered unspeakably. I wasted years of my life in a country that hates me, threatened my child with death, and is now sick. Nobody can ever make it right again.

Having lived in UK for over 20 years, and over 30 years in India, I can say that there is no Normalisation of Racism in UK unlike in India. The biggest propogators of Racism in UK has been two Indians, Priti Patel and Suella .

You obviously haven't gone to school in Britain. I'm a Malayali Indian Hindu but unfortunately I was born, brought up and educated in Britain (PhD in physics from Warwick). As a young boy who went to school in Britain, I used to get into fights with either white British kids or muslim kids (mainly Pakistani or Iranian kids). They used to say so much shit about India, especially white English kids, I would say stuff back and they'd punch me and I would punch back. White people in general don't like coloured people, including Indians. My parents came to Britain in the 1970's, to New Ham. Most white folks in the area sold up and left within 15 years. When you asked them why, they would say "I don't want to live next to a house that smells of curry".

Omg the cold shoulder was such a relief to hear! I feel like a crazy person for bringing this up to my white friends because they always say it’s just in my head but you literally have to experience it to know it’s real. PEOPLE AT SHOPS ALWAYS KEEP INTERACTIONS WITH YOU AT A MINIMUM IF YOU’RE NOT WHITE, EVEN THOUGH YOU’RE A PAID CUSTOMER LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. It’s good to know that I’m not crazy and it’s insane how different Canada is in comparison. Going out is a huge part of my life so small instances like these really add up to a very oppressive feeling in the UK…

Hello, that's exactly what I experience in the area I live and I regularly shopping.Some shopkeepers intentionally don't interact with me while friendly chatting with locals before and after me. You are not crazy, that's a typical phenomenon here. However, I would notice that there is racism in the country I'm from. I wish this world to be more friendly, diverse and multicultural.

Great video. I meet so many folk who claim racism doesn't exist in the UK. But I think it can be extremely insidious because it's so under the radar sometimes, and it's basically impossible to tell someone who hasn't experienced it how consistent comments or acts can build. While a lot of people aren't outwardly racist, I still see a pattern of using words like "exoctic" and such to describe people who aren't white, and hell look at the sheer volume of harassment Megan got for daring to be half black. The news outwardly talking about what colour the baby would be was absolutely wild to me. I worked for a while as a call taker on the 999s for the police, and it really opened my eyes even more to the sheer volume of unspoken racism that was around. Constantly getting reports of things that you'd be like "this doesn't seem like a problem" and then you'd ask for a description and hear that they're non white and instantly realise what was happening. Hell, I remember someone calling in about a bunch of middle eastern men with guns, and that she was certain they must be about to do a taliban attack. One of my colleagues rushed police there, and it was literally just a group of guys of Indian descent (so wrong nationality entirely for a start), who were like 100m away from a shooting range and were just meeting up as a group before they went shooting. People did that sorta thing all the time, perfectly legal (shooting parties are very normal in my rural neck of the woods), but I can guarantee that woman wouldn't have thought twice if those men had white skin. But we'd even get calls about someone walking through a neighbourhood being 'suspicious' just because they were black.

I am white Welsh and always get racist remarks from people in London when I go there ~ water off a duck's back. Ethnics need to grow a thicker skin. God love 'em. They can always seek another country more welcoming ~ though I doubt if they would find one.

I've been in the UK for more than 50 years. We as a family were severely targeted due to being Hindus. Our business was destroyed due to continuous harassment over 9 years. Arson, physical threats, criminal damage to premises. We lost our savings and family life as a result. I've recently realised that racism is endemic within British society due to Freemasonry so it is structural. So even if other groups also suffer they target Hindus the most. This is just one incident I'm relating. The reason I'm saying this is because 93% of doctors that died due to Covid were Indian, which was shocking to learn.

Racism is not specific if you are Hindu , it's generally Asian or colour of your skin, neither is good. Racist don't know the difference, but the Indian caste system is more prevalent and that racism is also not excusable. Your case is statically ? 0.1% otherwise thousands of Asian businesses, shops etc existing in UK have had the same level of harsh treatment then they would also all be closed. ? Your case is one off and you should have discussed it with the local councillor and police. It's not nice to hear what you've been through, the audience should be given a balanced view.

@@m.goodengumman3941 I don't think you've understood my point. Freemasons control the UK. These attacks are orchestrated by the Police and security services. They use youths to target people. Even today it's going on. Hence why the violence in Leicester happened. The mayor appears to be complicit. Now with AI and 5G its even easier to target people. My Sikh friend has been targeted to force her to move from her home by local Islamists who won't tolerate non Muslims in the area. The police won't intervene. So the term Asian doesn't apply.

This year my daughter in year one at a primary school on Leigham Court Road in London was told to go back to her country by a classmate. So we did just that. We are now back in our country and we were totally happy to leave that dump of a country. 😊

Gosh, I'm so sorry. I say this in all honesty, racism from anyone is not ok.

London I would say is the least racist city of all. People up north are much more racist and I have had friends tell about their horror experiences in Scotland and Wales (spitting on their shoes and mocking them openly in public) and it can be a very lonely feeling battling it as an international student.

Well, in May, I came to Chepstow in order to participate in an event - I hadn’t been in the UK since 2019 at that point. It was quite shocking for me to discover how many people I came across were either depressed or stressed out, the tension was palpable. There were piles of litter almost everywhere I went to… and the behavior of some teenagers, I don’t even want to delve into it. The UK and its culture was always something I’d look up to. But nowadays? Meh.

Being black is the worst of it. Your skin instantly reveals your class and standard of respect you deserve. I work in a nursing home in England, Slough. The only people who show real respect are the healthcare assistants (carers) from the minority. The rest, I have to force them to Respect my leadership. Terrible and exhausting. Looking to change jobs now because they can easily cause me to lose my License.

With all due respect, yes Black people have long been oppressed and nobody in their right mind can ever deny this but you cannot just make generalised statements of this kind. It's very offensive. As a British Indian, I have been racially abused. I have worked as a complex carer and a black, senior, female carer persistently made comments on my ethnicity and religion and turned other carers against me. I won't have people like you dismissing and belittling the very real, traumatic, painful and often fatal racism that British Indians and other ethnic minorities face. It's not a competition. We should all be allies. Any form of racism is wrong. Until we work together, nothing will improve for the greater good.

Hi Ashika, I am a British born Indian female, approaching age 30, and to this day, I've experienced direct racism. However it's not always from the people you'd perhaps most expect. I've experienced it from Black people and fellow Indian people. Today's painful incident was by two young British, Muslim, Pakistani girls, in a public library, in Greater Manchester area, who verbalised several disgusting opinion, loudly and unashamedly, about Indians, right when I sat down at a sitting area. And they kept blatantly staring at me and laughing. I am a resilient person (to say the least) but that doesn't mean these incidents don't hurt. Especially after all I've endured and with it being late May 2024.

During my university year in the UK, I’ve not really experienced racism in the big cities like London, Manchester, etc. But small towns and villages which are majority white I have many times. I’m from HK.

It's a crucial matter. When a person or family leaves everything behind, they are naturally mentally in a state of a lot of pain emotionally. British Indian here, Cornwall & Devon are completely racist. Many restaurants simply wont serve you they ignore you till you leave. Wales is just as racist just type it into Google and read yourself. Ive unfortunately lived in these racist places and I can confirm the UK is extremely racist. It makes no difference I was born here and have an English accent.

I lived in Durham for 2 years I was working in a small company, and I was bullied and harassed by 3 of my colleagues who made fun of me all the time, they were pretty mean saying really horrible things, and on top of that I was told to f**k off and go back to my country but two people in the street just because they heard me speaking my mother language, I left my job in Durham mainly because of that, and now I am looking for a job again, the only job I had in the UK was the one in Durham because the manager was Indian and had a good feeling about me and hired me, if it is up to my colleagues I would never get hired. I am really thinking of going back home to North Africa.

I have invented a medicine which i want to explore. Ani i want to sale my idea to a top medicine research company in uk. Please help me out to connect to the company. I really tried so hard from google and mail. But no result

Some friends from France and Eastern Europe were also the victims of racist behaviour in England. The French couple - who do speak English, albeit with an accent - were in a restaurant in Liverpool, obviously speaking French among themselves, and when they ordered a coffee, the people at the table next to them, who had heard the couple talking, started imitating French people speaking English, with 2 of them laughing, saying, 'of course the Froggies want coffee'! Another friend, originally from Romania, who spent several years in England, was treated rudely and given poor service in some shops and restaurants, and also faced discrimination when looking for a flat. Even being from elsewhere in Europe does not automatically guarantee immunity to discrimination based on language and ethnicity in the UK.

Worked for leicestershire police, trust me it wasn't verbal racism it was felt and oppressive. Honest!

I came to UK in 1974 there was so much racism compare to now.

Racism is universal across cultures in history. In UK, big portion of the population feels animosity towards foreigners but the reasons are primarily economical rather than race. -Economical stagnation -Shortage of housing -Increase cost of living -High taxes -Income stagnation for 40+ years -Increase in crime rate -Overload on early education and NHS Everywhere in the world, where these factors have affected local population we have seen the same hostility towards foreigners or immigrants. Starting this conversation is great but blaming race or skin colour is missing the point. Racism is an ugly byproduct of multifactorial economic situation not the root cause.

I think all forms of racism today starts with the fear of the locals , that we people of other ethnic communities will take over their land and rule over them. Even in India in olden days if a person went from one village to another village he would be viewed as a threat and sometimes chased away . Most violence happened in my State Tamilnadu between 2 villages and have even led to bloodshed , because of the fear of new comers. The underlying factor is the fear of occupation. I appreciate gulf countries in this matter. One can work and earn in gulf countries and they can return back to their homeland. This is a win win situation for all. We don't heat of racism in gulf countries and they don't feel threatened by us and they treat ppl well.

We too asked them to go back in multiple ways , soft and harsh, but they stayed for 100 years !

While applying in it jobs they will very easily select people who are ilr but not who are on sponsor visa same cv gets shortlisted when a British citizen applies but not for others

So in all honesty, that might not be about racism, it's more about cost. Because if you are on a visa, it would mean they would have to sponsor and pay the costs towards sponsorship, which they don't have to do with citizens.

I’ve lived, studied and worked in London, Birmingham and Reading and have experienced racism equality everywhere. I’m from Iran and people immediately get obsessed about my nationality but in time when they get to know me they begin to look at me as an inspiration! I learned to manage negative emotions and direct it towards taming the opponent. It’s hard painful and a constant battle specially at competitive work place or in public but it gets easier when I look at the harasser as less experienced less travelled human!

Don’t worry law protects you, you just follow the rules and don’t trust anyone, even the most kind smiley ones cause appearances are deceptive. The further you look and live from their familiar stereotype the more difficult your life is going to be. But they show it less to brown and black people because in that case the racism and discrimination would be too obvious to cover it up, they are way more clever in playing their games than you think! You must experience it yourself.

​@@nipi1790I agree with you. As a black person that was born in England over 40 years ago I saw the overt racism of the 1980's and 1990's from the white British working class. It's much less overt now and it's still there but much more hidden than it was. I think the UK will always have a problem with racism given it's failure to reconcile itself as a modern progressive state that is inclusive to all people as it pretends to be given its past based on oppression of its colonised people. The classism that exists in the UK particularly in England contributes to this and as with the hostile media environment around immigration and asylum seekers I don't expect the UK to become a post racial harmonious state anytime soon.

Unfortunately, a very hermetic local community, I often encounter a hidden manifestation of racism, although I am from Poland and I do not distinguish myself by skin color, religion, or other aspects that could arouse reluctance. Despite this, one can sense the reluctance of people to other "non-English". All it takes is my accent and it works as a trigger. I immediately feel a change in the attitude of people's behavior, distance, withdrawal, etc . I haven't been directly attacked because I'm athletic, quite large, etc., so my physical features may inhibit someone's bad intentions. Unfortunately, in workplaces or places where there is a superior or I am in a situation of lower hierarchy of the company - situations of racism often happened, but covered with "care for the company, internal rules, law to work", etc. Situations where a racist used a position in the company. In general, a very complex topic, but it often appears when I talk to other friends (from other countries, other nations, etc.).

I worked in a hospital in Glasgow for 6 months and after hearing my accent people stopped talking to me and made no effort and think maybe out of all my time there in Glasgow the Scottish people only said like 10 sentences to me, Glasgow is the worst place I've been in the UK with xenophobia

I lived in the UK for 5 years and I feel like people there were a lot more racist towards people who weren’t born in the UK than those that were born there. And even though they act polite you can feel the discrimination in a lot of aspects of life. And they don’t discriminate only based on race but also based on where you come from. Being an Eastern European, I often felt discriminated by different professors during my studies. However, I did feel much better in London. Because of the multicultural diversity there, racism and discrimination are probably a lot less common compared to the small towns and villages.

I'm English and have faced racism from expats many times. It goes both ways. Of course you're going to experience racism at some point in the UK, just like liberally any other country you choose to live in. I feel like we're constantly under attack in this country even though we're one of the most, if not THE most race tolerant countries in the world.

Even I faced in university I studied, not directly. It happens hear and there, as u said not every one is like that. Even i met very nicest people there. Now in India and want to come back again

Guess I’m one of the lucky ones who hasn’t experienced even a SINGLE INCIDENT of racism. Like I used to live in Derby, in the English industrial North. Funnily enough, The UK is the LEAST RACIST country in all of Europe and the many Eastern European ones outright want to ban Muslim immigrants from entering their countries. One observation which is definitely true is this. Violent incidents of racism (just like violent crime) has drastically gone down in the UK over the last few decades which means that even the smallest incident gets a LOT OF attention. Certainly, any type of racist incident isn’t pretty (and it applies both ways right?) but by and large, The UK is an excellent country to live in.

There's racism and there's xenophobia. Racism exists at an institutional and societal level. Xenophobia, an irrational fear of strangers/foreigners, is down to the individual and stems from prejudice. Interesting word...pre-judging. My elderly in-laws were a good example; having fought in and lived through WW2 they saw immigrants as ungratefully taking what they had built up (ignoring the fact that immigrants were helping rebuild the UK). Imagine you live in a village and everyone contributes to building a well. Some who have more belongings are told to contribute more but everyone gets to take the same amount of water. One day a stranger from outside settles in the village, finds a job from day one is allowed to take his fair share despite not having contributed very much at all. He works hard and tries his best and continues to contribute (even though those who built the well say his contribution will never match theirs). Word gets out the village is a good place to live and work. More strangers come. The village prospers as a result but now people are suspicious that the newcomers are only interested in their well. Queues for the well are getting longer. Friction builds. Some of the newcomers bring their elderly relatives to live with them and to support them, because they love them and it is their right. Even though these grandparents can't work, they are entitled to water from the well as water is a right, not a privilege. I could go on...but it's too depressing trying to think like a xenophobe! 😢 But maybe I have given an idea of the prejudice?

Iam from Plymouth which comes under Devon county and never encountered a single racism. People here are more helpful and kind.

UK CITIES outside of London are very racist and segregated like Birmingham, Manchester Liverpool, Leeds have racial issues and segregated areas with no integration at all.

I have had experiences of this kind of attitude. It’s how they make you feel. To my credit I’m quite confrontational & call people out directly which in return makes them extremely uncomfortable & puts them on the spot. They don’t like this.

I look Indian, Jewsih , Arabic , Persian , and so on and so forth , 😂 So I’ve experienced so many different versions of racism in london , Especially in the london Suburbs. London isn’t actually an example of the English culture because london is an entity of its own and for a person to have a real understanding of the English culture one needs to live in the real English cities such as the cities and villages in the southwest of England or places like Norfolk or Suffolk Because if the ethnic minorities are high in one city in the uk then racism goes unnoticed because of the policies of local councils but things can be very different in other parts of the uk .

Hmm... I'm not sure the incident in the Dartmouth cafe is necessarily about racism (whatever that word means.) I can tell you that the lady in the caf probably would indeed have reacted in the same way if you'd been white. It's sure been my experience.

As an asian brit born in the 80s I can tell you there is a lot of racism in london back then it was very open but now a lot more subtle having said that I have to add there are some white brits who are genuinely very welcoming. People just don't like anyone that's different from them in any way whether it's colour of the skin language religion or even class and I believe it exists in every community

Im Pakistani born in Uk. Must say i love Indians who i come across. I always try to treat them with respect. But racism exists in all evil people whatever creed or colour. Suprisingly Suella did not help.

I live in Leeds here I find people really warm and helpful never faced any racism yet here however this is really subject to people to people 😢

Im very frustrated about seemingly increasing xenophobia in the Uk. Ive never been the victim of it but it feels so antiquated and stupid but were told our country has a migrant crisis when our rich is taxed at effectively 8 percent, i wonder which one is the reason we have no fuckin money.

It's been six months here, so far so good. I found people very warm and supporting.

Whites in Australia are originally from England and ireland many immigrated to Australia and brought thier racism with them.

Sorry to hear that. It’s very ignorant of them. I am white British and I rarely see racism amongst British people black or white in the cities. If there is an incident it stands out as being unacceptable behaviour. This year in 2024 there is more racism from black and white immigrants who have moved here. I am not used to it. I grew up in one of the most multi racial counties in England. Having said that it is definitely more apparent in some of the towns not the cities in UK. It is quite a complex issue. Everyone I know in UK who is black or brown see themselves as black yet lately some black immigrants do not accept being called black and they find it offensive so it is not an easy subject. It’s like saying only one of two white people are white because one of them has an olive complexion not a white complexion.

this shit happens to me as well and i'm white skinned, I don't know if they t hink I'm jew or something. I have long curly hair. When at the gas station they're really nice to people that look normal and are british descent, but are not at all nice to me. Some indian taxi driver asked if I jewish when I was wearing my fedora.

I am Ahmadi Muslim and brown. So kinda double disadvantage. My son (8) faced very sad incident of Racism in a school in Worcester before summer break this year. During playtime when he was playing with another Asian friend, few boys from senior year group(year 6) called them "bloody Asians" then one of them pushed him back for no apparent reason, his head hit the bin and when he fell down the group started laughing. Being encouraged by the group the pusher started to hit him with a stick in hand (though not very forcefully). Teacher came, rescued my son, shouted at those kids and reported the incident to us. I didn't know who to blame? However, the response was important to me. I thought about filing a police report etc. But my son after discussing with me decided to make a card for the racist kids, that he did and handed over to their teacher. I don't know if his gesture would plant some seeds of goodness in those kids when they grow up. But we as a family were too grateful to this amazing country to hit back at those kids. These people have shared their home-land with us and gave us every possible chance to thrive. Yes, there can be both structural and individual biases and white privilege also partly exists, but we would like to be the part of solution to make it better society.

Omg that’s terrible. I’m so sorry your son had to go through that. What he endured is inexcusable. Being a mother myself I’m 100% sure I wouldn’t have reacted as kindly as you’ll did so something for all of us to learn from you. That being said, I think it’s about time schools have sessions to teach students how racism cannot be tolerated in this age to make sure this doesn’t happen again. Your son will grow up stronger and I wish him the best x.

Racism often shown way people treat you and talk to you.

As a native we are scared of losing our identity! Like we are seeing other flags being flown around different cultures being introduced and it’s taking away our identity our tradition of British language British flags British food and pub food British music and folk! The island is Very small island our countrysides are being ripped apart to host more and more people our beautiful lands once was! Again this is to do with the mass immigration from the east! This is not about race this is about our culture and respecting the ways and lands! Crime since the introduction from the east in the last decade is up 30% in theft rape and murder! Arrests again out of 1000 men 12 are being arrested Out of 1000 men of ethic east 61 Do you see our concern as natives! Our once Great Britain is dying in all aspects! From mass migration we can’t even house our own people! People that do move need to read about the history need to read into the tradition of the country it’s not the other way around of coming here and changing it! That’s called no respect!

Yes you need to speak up when it happens, they look surprised when you speak up probably they assume you do not know the language and my first grader son got the " you need to go back where you came from" at school. I live in Newcastle. Surprisingly the older generation here are very nice.

I'm an Eastern European, white but with dark eyes and hair, and have experienced very similar situations. I have been feeling down because of these for quite few years now but have always been afraid to call it "racism" as the rudeness from British people is not particularly because of my skin colour or race. I do have accent, wouldn't say too thick and still receive quite a vulgar behaviour. Would this be racism or discrimination or something else? Especially after Brexit, I feel like nobody is talking how unfair we have been treated as well, so I think we should have bigger discussion about this! And sorry you have felt like this! If it makes you feel better, I have experienced the same things and it's not because of your skin colour, British people like only British people :)

Great courage for speech against such discrimination, my question is what about your opinion about Indian Raciscism by Castism? Have you ever said your opinion about this? You should once think about this?

Why is UK only indexed?? I have lived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for some time, and let me tell you, there administration has done masters in exercising racism. As an Asian ,you are not even in second class citizens ( other Arab speaking non natives), but something below that , say third level citizens. They were racist enough to speak in big team meetings and Presentation in Arabic only ( deliberately), despite having a board of Asian and African medical staff,who would simply watch the show like deaf and mute. I am a specialist Surgeon, and would not mention of labour class treatment there. But yes, some people amongst them were brilliant, generous and justified. So it isn't never like that, the people and things are same exclusively !!

Every expat has every legal right to use what ever opportunity they can to improve their life and use the economy to their advantage. The British stole from so many countries and now you are acting pathetic. People need to have some sort of compensation from all the stealing the British did

I experienced bullying, harassment and stalking for 8 years now. All started in Reading when I was working for an Indian, very rich estate agency owner. Him and his daughter after I resigned from work for them, said they will do revenge and will ruin my career. They said something bad about me after my conversation with a young colleague from Pakistan (we have a conversation about a terrorist attack). Then I was employed by another estate agency - family owned (family with Pakistani background). They repeated everything that happened in the previous place of work. They also said I can't finish my lunch in the cantina because they have to pray. At the same time they said I am not allowed to eat at my desk. There were many more I experienced from them. They use business connections to stalk me. I have done nothing wrong against them. I suppose that the ex employer said bad things about me - hence they are following me. The behaviour is typical to their community. When you have a ''problem'' with one of them, they turn against you. In my country we believe that when you have a ''problem'' you need to speak to this person. We believe it needs to be done face to face between those two people involved. Other people try not to get involved. What is the conclusion - racism is not coming only from white people. Actually I believe it is done by narrow minded people. Personally I believe that skin colour doesn't matter. What does matter is how you are treating other people, your character. I have been treated badly by this estate agency owner and his daughter because they think they have the right to treat me in this way as they are rich and influential! She said to me I have to be thankful that she employed me, a foreigner in the office with my poor English. They can't stand the fact that I do not let them treat me in this way and resign. I do not want to be their slaves - doing work that 3 people should do for £16000 per year. I also experienced bad treatment from English people. I was sexually harassed at work in Wokingham where I was working for a car dealer. He felt free to do that because as said to me - ''nobody will stand behind you as you are a foreigner''! Later one I found out that that person was contacted by my ex-employer. I took that to the Employment Tribunal and since then they have turned my life into a nightmare. They will never stop. In November I received a call from a man with a Pakistani accent and he said ''come back to your country if you want to live''! What has the police done about this? Nothing - they try to keep me quiet and protect those bandits. From now I decided to publish my story and warn other people. If anybody else is experiencing the similar situation as I am - please contact me. Let's stop racism together.

OMG that's horrible! I hope the courts sue them for every penny they're worth. I would like to say name and shame but I'm sure you have constraints that bind you from doing that but I genuinely help things get better. They sound like goons and trashy people. Money can't buy manners unfortunately, or common sense for that matter. And you're right, racism comes in all forms. It's wonderful that you've taken the courage to speak about this. It wouldn't have been easy. I hope things get better for you.

They dont greet you, they make you feel.. how about you greeting them with a big smile and you making them feel great. People are like this to Indians cuz they've faced many cold Indians. Indians are cold cuz of their own insecurities.

All I know, it spoke volumes to me how they (British) treated their own black soccer players for missing penalty kicks. In a fkn GAME!

To że anglicy bez powodu w sklepie mnie obrazali to jedno ale moje prywatne sprawy siłą wyciągać w pracy to sobie postawili polacy. Murzyni w pracy przesadzali jesli chodzi o rasizm menadżer został oskarżony o rasizm bo kazał pozamiatać podłogę. Ludzie biali bialych też źle traktują. I am completely ignorant about this but I've seen 3 or 4 comments talking about racism in India? Is that for real? Or is it like the banter we have in the UK where we mock eachother for being Welsh or from Yorkshire or Liverpool etc. kzread.info/dash/bejne/iKmkrsmveJjUhpc.html UK slander (real Can someone explain please? 🙂

Think of India as being like Europe, but with more unity: It's a big country with 28 states, 8 union territories and over 700 ethnic groups, e.g: Bengali Indians, Punjabi Indians, Gujarati Indians, Tamil Indians, Telegu Indians, Kannadiga Indians, Malayali Indians, Asomiya Indians, Odia Indians, Marathi Indians, Naga Indians and many many others. There are 22 official languages, most with their own distinct written scripts, and many other languages that have not been registered by the Indian central government, as being official. India has no national language, and all regional languages are national languages. The most commonly spoken languages are Hindi and English. Now add to this mix 9 religions, four of which were born in India i.e.: Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, Sikhism, but India is also the adoptive home of Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Zoroastrianism and B'hai. The situation is complicated even further by social stratification amongst different ethnic groups in different states. This social stratification is indeed inherent to Indian civilization, which is thousands of years old, and has been corrupted somewhat by the Indian population natively over the centuries, however a great deal of it has been artificially engineered into Indian society by invading and occupying forces into India, namely by the Muslim Empires (Afghan and Uzbek/Mughal) and by the European Empires (Dutch, French, Portuguese and British). So there's a great deal of ethnic, religious and linguistic diversity in India. Each state in India is in many ways a country of it's own which is why I drew the analogy between Europe and India. The difference is, Europe is not united and looks like it's breaking apart. With the diversity in India comes a great deal of stepping on each other's toes due to differences in language, religion and customs, e.g. when Tamil Indians (from the Southern state of Tamil Nadu) move to Jharkhand in North India for work or if they are farmers looking to sell their produce there or when Bihari Indians move to Kerala, or Christian Naga Indians moving to Hindu majority Gujarat etc. The unifying force that brought all of the people of India together in 1947 was to face a common enemy that was exploiting everyone of all ethnicities and all religions: Britain :). So it's a bit more complicated than the typical banter in Britain of say an Englishman calling a Welshman a sheep shagger or a South English person calling a North English person a "Northern Monkey" or a North English person calling a South English person a "Southern fairy" :D. It might be better to think along the lines of how the French might behave towards the Spanish or how a Danish person would be treated if they moved to Italy etc. Does that make sense?

If you are foreigner in India, it's highly unlikely that you could avoid racism. It's everywhere. (But needlessly to say, not all Indians are racists)

Vin00infy I watched a programme about India and found it very interesting that the food culture from different parts of India. You can find like a whole town mainly eating fish or parts that are vegetarian only. Unfortunately racism is a problem everywhere. But then we have problems in our own ethnic groups even in our own families. It’s just that racism makes it worse and own ethnic group problems also makes it worse when you are also dealing with racism. Human conflict has always been a problem.

Hey there Ashika what's poppin'? Yeah racism I believe does not exist in 100% area of any country. Maybe in some parts or areas of any country we may face racism but I don't think it is possible in every single place. And secondly, we go abroad for normally two purposes, earning and higher studies. So our main focus must be on our dreams. Not on these unnecessary matters. Ashika what do you think about that?

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry that happened. Have you noticed how these comments are mostly directed at people because of the color of their skin? I see so many Europeans who aren't British either who aren't subjected to this.

Live in more indian area

I could say move to area with more indians but sometimes indians racist to each other but still better being in mixed area

i was in UK for 2 years, someone threw an egg on me and fled. I live in Germany now been here for 7 years not a single racist incident happened. I feel that UK is more racist than Germany.
