That's amazing! It definitely shows off the pigeons' flying skills; a breed having evolved over millions of years to evade peregrine falcons among the cliffs of Europe. Their skill in evading the goshawk is also amazing. It's like the flock is of one mind, and they know exactly when and how to split up and merge back together. Nice job raising the pigeons, and filming this video!

Gosh hawk (are that a sparrow hawk?) are ambush predators, they rely on stealth,that one is either fooling around, (testing the flock) or is a very young and inexpert birds. Look at the difference in the falcon strategy sprinting and diving on open air push the pigeons limits

Just came across this. Great footage. I'm a falconer here in the UK. My brother raced pigeons all his life and is still pigeon mad. Nice to see both predator and prey evenly matched. This video just shows that the outcome doesn't always result in the death of a pigeon. It also shows the different flying styles of Peregrine and Goshawk. The agility of the pigeons is amazing. Good work with filming it.

On viewing for the second time is say that the second bird is a female Sparrowhawk rather than a Goshawk judging by the size comparison to the pigeons?

@@EskdaleHawks1 I agree, second bird is a female sparrowhawk. Wings are too short for a gos. It is also nice to see how the pigeons, fly differently depending on which raptor is chasing them. I have flown goshawks and sparrowhawks, both get the best out the birds they are chasing. As you say, It is about the flights, not the kills :)

Thats wasn't an experienced Falcon but probably a young one. Racing Pigeons dont stand a chance against a adult PF

These blue bar racing pigeons are true throughbreeds , with super survival instincts. your footage kept me on the edge of my seat!

These birds are aces when they hit the sky amazing to watch such creature enjoy freedom😊

NO WONDER PIGEONS TEND TO FLY IN LARGE GROUP. HERD REALLY PROTECTS INDIVIDUAL AGAINST PREDATION. THIS IS ALSO TRUE FOR LAND ANIMALS LIKE ZEBRAS, GIZZELS.

I love pigeons a lot. When I was Between 8/9 years old from that time to at present I'm still practicing them with great love & affection. I'm now 28 yrs... Now I'm practicing on the extreme level's high flyers . pray for my family & my pigeons

Your pigeon are so unbelievably fast. It seems that raptors don't have an easy time at all, chasing for them. These pigeons easily outrun raptors, it almost looks like they are joking with them. Amazing.

Wow!!! I was at the edge of my chair. I used to own pigeons many years ago. I can tell you have awesome pigeons, they are beautiful. Great video and music to go with it.

@ONE TREE HILL NZ tbh i am amazed u that someone would accept their mistake this quickly so stay blessed for that... and secondly its a predator prey relationship... his birds do fly fast and escaped raptor but this is not always the case he lose 1 or 2 every now and then.... if there are no pigeons peregrine falcons would rather starve .... so its how the nature works

I've raised lots of pigeons and have done plenty of successful surgeries on injured pigeons. Outstanding birds.

My father was one of the most successful pigeon racers in Pennsylvania. He never shot at the hawks or falcons that pursued our birds darn near every day during their exercise flights. His philosophy was that if the hawks could catch one he didn't want that one anyway. Used the hawks and falcons to exercise the flock. Race day was different.

Best ever video! This kind of pigeons so strong so smart never give up, I love them from heart. Thanks man!

Bravo un video foarte spectaculos si foarte rar asa ceva nu prea gasesti pe internet, daca cineva incepator vede acest video direct ar crede wow ce greu e sa fie prins prorumbelul de soim/uliu. Porumbeii tai pe scurt is cam bat joc de pradatori acestia, se vede ca sunt foarte bine antrenati si au o conditie fizica extraordinara. Am urmarit acest video 9:22 fara sa ratez vreo secunda ba chari in unele faze am derulat ca sa vad din nou, chiar a iesit f bine si noi abonatii mai asteptam video, cat de multe noi nu ne suparam. La secventa de la minutul 6:05 cred ca m-am uitat de 20 de ori. :) Sunt si victime... nu numai ca nu le-as posta, dar nici nu am surprins pe film vreo captura, majoritatea le face soimul foarte sus si departe si nu vad nimic.

Este si normal sa mai prinda din ei dar doar la greseli facute de porumbeii tai, pana la urma nici iei nu sunt perfecti dar cum spuneai cei puternici raman si se calesc tot mai tare cresc in forma tot mai mult si cred ca ai din ce in ce tot mai putine pierderi pe an ce trece. Schimbarile de directie facute de porumbei uliu se parea ca ramane spectator :D. Ma bucur ce ai realizat pana acum! Felicitari!!!!

What kinda pigeon is in your profile picture ?

I live within a concrete jungle, seen lots of raptors hunt (peregrine falcon). It's typical for them to float and observe the pack of pigeons and pick out one for their meal, survival of the fittest really.

My pigeons could never trick hawks like this, he always took one. And they all panicked. Good work!

Wonderful video. And respect for obviously admiring the raptors as much as you do your fantastic pigeons. Beautiful.

Mine also go really high so the falcon cant dive into the kit

Great video of my favorite birds thank you for sharing it makes me love my pigeons more every time I watch it.

I've been a falconer for a long time and can attest that well conditioned racing homers very rarely get caught by raptor in fair flight.

Thank you. This is why I started doing these videos, got tired of people saying that the falcon never leaves hungry. It is an exception when it takes a fit experienced mature racing pigeon, not a rule. Now after posting so many videos they changed their mind, sometimes I am told the falcons just play. lol. Still, they keep the pigeons locked for the cold half of the year so the falcon won't "play" with them.

No wonder that Soviet aircraft designers like the OKB MiG had a Pigeon on their logo.

Reminds me of my grandad who youst to race pigeons when I was 5 he took me up to loft at Bradley shops he said peter which pigeon do you like I said the one with the white face. found out years ago he won a big race from france to here in England and it was called White face. he got a solid silver trophy of a pigeon for it. this is my story he named the pigeon cos I said I like that pigeon with white face godbless grandad he was a good man ginger billy William fail they called him.

I was searching about pigeons on KZread when I came across your channel. Your videos are simply awesome.To put things in perspective, pigeons have some of the best defense maneuverability of any bird in the planet. Even the fastest flying bird on earth, the peregrine falcon hardly attempts to catch pigeons since they are so difficult to catch. I learnt this from a program which was shown in the National Geographic.

on flat yes is more than proven, that's why wawk's use strategy they flight high then fall at high speed, some times they chase but they use the fall more often and is in this fall were they get the famous speed the pigeon dont use the fall because they know that will lose

They have to fly close.. they have to stick in group... don't keep the enemy out of sight. The pigeons usually try to fly above the falcon... my pigeons used to do that. Falcons are pigeons natural born enemies.

Absolutely great. Your pigeons are healthy and well trained and play with the hawks and falcons. 95% of all pigeon breeders can dream of your birds. Congratulations.

Cool video. Pigeons are incredible, High altitude they fly in the group just they have been attacked they scatter and gather and they circle down to confuse the bird. Even one of them picked off it does such maneuvers amazes me. Good exercise for the pigeons too
