Great videos! I love the decision you made on your racing loft landing board/aviary. I was torn on my loft also, and decided to do with a removable aviary cage that sits on a landing deck. (See mine at Honeymoon Loft). But I think I am going to change mine to a opening with landing board extension like yours. That will save me a lot of cage movements! Can't wait for you to get your race birds. It is a great sport, and you have outfitted that loft nicely. Congrats!

I have not seen any problem with the pigeons feet and they have been on wire their whole life. I'm glad you like the video and found it interesting, thanks for watching

That platform and aviary is awesome. Do you have a latch that holds the platform in place when closed? Also, do you just use a long bolt to hold the spinning support in place? I am going to build this!

Hey Matt, I’m glad you like the aviary. The doors do not latch because they are heavy enough in my opinion to Stay shut you can add a latch easily if you like. And yes there is a heavy duty screw holding the support in the center. Best of luck building it I hope it turns out great.

There are too many issues with my local racing club and also I don’t think they are going to race this season. I really don’t have any normal racing pigeons I was expecting to get 25 of the ones I wanted but that has been canceled. There’s always next year, and I am looking forward to it. Just curious why use nails as opposed to netting staples? Didn't know if there was an advantage to it in this type of build.

The only reason is because I had them available and those are roofing nails which don’t tend to rest so I’m sure it would work well both ways but I always tend to use what I have on hand. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching

@@sdfsfklugi You should choose a screw size that is twice the width of the wood so in this case 3". The actual dimentions of this lumber is 1-1/2 x 2-1/4" because it's a 2 x 6 ripped in half.

@@sdfsfklugi I used heavier lumber because the unit was large and needed the strength to keep it strait. If you have a smaller one you could probably get away with 1x2 lumber. I didn't hit the other screws because I kept them offset for that reason. 👍

It is 2‘ x 2‘ x 9‘-6” long. When you open the landing board is 4 feet wide.

@@sdfsfklugi You should choose a screw size that is twice the width of the wood so in this case 3". The actual dimentions of this lumber is 1-1/2 x 2-1/4" because it's a 2 x 6 ripped in half.

@@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons thanks alot, 1 more question you see how at 1:36 you drill the under and above the material how did you did this without hitting the two screws that hold the material together, and do you think 1x2 would work or 2x3 would work better, thanks so much for replying by the really apprecciate it

@@sdfsfklugi I used heavier lumber because the unit was large and needed the strength to keep it strait. If you have a smaller one you could probably get away with 1x2 lumber. I didn't hit the other screws because I kept them offset for that reason. 👍
