Once the sparrow hawk leaves them, you have to contend with the peregrine falcon. Enjoy all your videos, mate. Good luck with the race season
Just love your videos
Good start buddy!! Best of luck in the racing season.
Hi just started pigeons again after watching your videos I got 24 up an over boxes for 160 an the gentleman has more in your interested he lives in Newark
Fantastic video again mate, great to see Charlie at the loft sitting with your wife and kids....😊 Seems everyone across the country had funny races, as you said in the video, plenty of birds of pray knocking about causing havoc!!! You've got to be pleased with the result considering your preparation, can't beat having good pigeons, they always show up. Looking forward to your next race, we really appreciate all the hard work you do making these videos 👏👏👏
Hi 😢 strong my friend 🙏🇹🇹
Now all my questions are from Horsham, Pennsylvania USA so we do things different here
Great video! Hopefully you do better on the next one!
Great video Dan! Love it
Hi mate good first race and coming 2/3rd is great result looks like all birds might of clashed on way home not brilliant but the stronger birds brake and made it back looking forward to next race👍
Well done on a good first race mate, A good competitive club to be in as well by the looks of it, Hopefully they've come well for you today
Just started back up with pigeons. After a break of a few years got some white logans to fly out . Do enjoy your videos keep them coming good luck with the season I do feel your pain with the bop issue that's why I packed in with the tipplers
Well done a little tip I would say is have a trapper in your hand and let it flap it’s wings when holding it this will attract them to land quicker
Also my dad would put tobacco stems in the nest bowls
Use double "barbs" where the birds come in. So the other birds can't dance and spook them where they need to come in. Losing a few seconds there 😅. Great video!

@youriverstraete4986

@@howtotrainyourpigeon I mean "bars". So the pigeon that comes true the first bars can relax in the trap for a second and get clocked before going in the loft with the other birds.

Congrats 👏 on second place, it is a pity cause you no any other time they'd usually hit that land board an in, but like U said it was a bit of a strange1, saying that a club over here not to long ago sent there birds across the water to England somewhere the winning bird was clocked 2days later there was easy 150 birds& more, some lad's lost there hole race team but that's PIGEON racing, the dropper's can only help I think, 🇮🇪DUBLIN🇮🇪

they just need some more training bud. then they will be fine.
Good start fingers crossed they trap better as the weeks go on.

Thanks. I had 2 more during the week with feathers missing. Think they were spooked from a falcon strike
Good second in what can always like the first and second young bird race be a bit mad, and are often avoided by experienced fanciers, as John Callaghan suggested to you don't be afraid to give them a miss if the birds are not quiet race fit due to lack of training due to weather or work commitments. Hopefully a repeat of Saturdays race won't happen again this or next season, you can bait the brain and wonder is it them clashing with other bigger feds and getting dragged untill they have the sense to break from the flock and turn and head home and be hours late, is it a hawk attack along the way, and it's definitely not a hawk near home because they wouldn't be doing laps of honour at you're house, as I've seen them almost break my old Sputnik trap to get in when a hawk was hovering near by, weather that's out for a fly, on the way home from training, or on race day, they no there safe in the loft and will head there, then you have lack of fitness, ting is we will never no, so best to look forward to next week all going well training and health wise. I would definitely have a dropper ready and very hungry . Try let the young birds out as late in the evening as possible, as by then the hawks are all fed for the day, and have no interest in food, even if it means you change you're darkness times and don't open them up untill 12-1 lunchtime, witch will mean you're Mrs opening them up if she can??
Weres your drop birds m8 ,we use 6 drop birds per race
As the first birds were flying around on arrival, I was wondering why you hadn't trained a dropper (the fantail). Thanks for explaining why. Please have your entry list on a clipboard and mark off the birds as they arrive. Much easier to keep track of what is and what isn't home. (In the old days with manual entry sheets there was a carbon copy in the bound race entry book that we would use to keep track). By the way Daniel, another terrific result, and well done with the limited preparation. I'm looking forward to you having another good season. Glad to see a 2nd round from '83.

The ets records the birds as they come in so 8 can see which ones come back. Although that doesn't work for training because I don't leave it set up. I might do that come to think of it 🤔
Also do you have any new ones and even that one that you were going to put together to save pigeon racing
Keep up the good work😊

You have to carefully listen the successful racers and literally follow the advice. Dont overcrowd. Keep the numbers small. Find the simplest method. Once you get a hold of what youre doing get you some expencive birds. Hello from a Serb pigeon racer. Or give up on the sport and teach your kids how to start a fire or cook some food and love their nation. God bless you.
Well done maté keep up the good work you should try using a trapper bird not telling you how to run your loft just a suggestion

@desburke7786

Dan is flying a kind of widowhood system as he said in the video, so cocks don't see hens untill basketing for the race and return from the race, no body shows the hens during training ever, cocks are just happy to come back to there box's and eventually as races go on they get a bowl
Do your local laws forbid killing the hawks that attach your birds?
The fact Charlie is sitting outside the little yard tells you never have your friend over and also tells you believe the birds wont trap if someone is around. The birds should be used to your friends as every race you will have supporters over. Hopefully.
You should keep a spare hearing aids, just in case.
