Racing Car Driver Crashes Into A Wall | Miami Vice
Ойын-сауық
Epic Chase on Miami Vice! Danny wins the Grand Prix, then the police begin chasing Frank. Despite having a clearly faster and more agile vehicle, his attempts to escape are thwarted as the police surround him. Ultimately resigned to his fate, he deliberately runs his race car head-on into a building, presumably killing himself.
From Miami Vice Season 2 Episode 17 'Florence Italy': Crockett and Tubbs track a Grand Prix race-car driver after the body of a slain prostitute is thrown from his speeding car.

4:17 shows the Newman/Sharp car. That's the racing team of Paul Newman and Bob Sharp. Paul Newman was a very good winning driver then too. They raced Nissan 280Zs of the time. This racing circuit was the IMSA series. International Motor Sports Association. It was soooo cool when Miami Vice featured the race in this episode. Danny Sullivan was also a top winning driver in the GTP (Grand Touring Prototype) class. These cars had the fewest restrictions and always the fastest, most exotic looking cars. MV was very unique in that it featured real people from the real world that was being used in the episode. Danny Sullivan here. Mark Breland in "Down for the Count". They weren't the best actors, but they were from their real worlds.

Yeah they used a lot of GoPros to good effect
Crockett uses his famous line, "I will clear my desk of all my other cases and make your life one living hell," for a second time in this episode. He would use the line a total of four times over the course of the series -- the other three occasions being in "One Eyed Jack", "By Hooker by Crook" and "Miami Squeeze".

Yeah and "pick up your mess!"...oh wait, that was my mother
I remember being at that race. The noise from those cars was so loud. Especially the swapped out engines. The Jags and Lowenbrau Porche weren't so loud but very fast. Spirit of Miami was spicy. Have to look for pics and post to KZread.

Those good time too long ago and far away!
The beginning...and the ending with a few great shots of the pastel duo in-between are the best parts of this episode.
A compelling and unforgettable vice moment!!! Wow
Vehicular duels on Miami Vice must always be the most iconic phases of 80s history. My most favorite one from the series is Crockett's Ferrari vs. Saboteurs from Rising Sun of Death.
My favorite ending for a _Miami Vice_ episode.
GTA 6 should return to Vice City but also get some storyline inspiration from Miami Vice episodes. Even this race car episode sounds amazing

i totally forgot how "cinematic" Miami Vice was in the 80s
If only IMSA broadcasting looked that beautiful back in those days...
Favorite cars was the Nissan cars #98 and #99
This still holds up brilliantly

That #85 March that crashed at the end actually finished 3rd in the race and was driven by Emerson Fittipaldi. & Tony Garcia. This episode damn near tells the real life story of racing father and son duo John Paul Sr. & John Paul Jr. They had smuggled marijuana to fund their racing team in the early 80's. They drove in IMSA, the kind of cars shown this episode. Jr. was an exceptional championship-winning driver at the time, Much like Danny Tepper, but went to jail in 1985, (took a plea deal so he wouldn't testify against his father's smuggling operations) got out in 88', redeemed himself and turned his life around. He passed away in 2020 from Huntington's disease. . . Sr. on the other hand, was a fugitive for over a year, and spent time in prison for many years for smuggling and attempted murder of a Federal witness in 1983 before being paroled in 1999. If not already dead, is most likely a fugitive on the run. (Again.) Since May of 2001 he's wanted by the FBI for the disappearance of his then-new girlfriend. His 2nd wife disappeared in the summer of 1981 but he wasn't charged. Much like Frank Tepper in the show, he's horrible with women and may have murdered 2 of them. He hasn't been seen since. @3:20 however, that #57 March 83G that flashes by was the Blue Thunder Racing Team (again, funded by marijuana) car driven by "Super Kingpin" drug dealer Randy Lanier who went to jail for life the following year of this Vice episode. He's out now (reasons undisclosed) and back to racing and working at rehab centers helping treat others with substance abuse. A few videos of him are out on KZread. All in all, this is probably the most realistic of all Miami Vice episodes. lol

I believe the Whittington Brothers did some time also.
A little cameo for multiple time Le Mans champion Derek Bell (next to Danny "Tepper" Sullivan after he gets out of the car in victory)!
Amazing ending to be honest... The storyline just keeps on- until the last second. lol.

Yes
His dad was picking up prostitues and murdering them, dumping their bodies on the streets. Committing suicide was the only was to escape the death penalty or lifetime prison. Kida sad that his son didn't know it until the end.
