Classic cars were generally far less reliable than modern cars. As for the love people comment, again, that applies more to today than the 60s. Lots of wack jobs back in the 60s wouldn't even let my gay friend marry another adult for literally no reason.

Classic cars lasted longer and are more rigid and far less disposable than today's cars. And the ppl were far more sensible, caring common sense than today's society. I've noticed this growing up in the 70 & 80s. Today's generation is so traumatized by what gender they are. You can't even walk outside the comfort of your own home without offending anyone.

Meaning on average, you'd buy a brand new car, and it would be in a junkyard less than 7 years later. That's a statistical averaging tracking the average age of cars on the road. By comparison, 7 years is nothing for a modern car. As for the comment on society being more compassionate, tell those people you're gay, or that you had depression, and watch them turn on you fast.

Awesome recreation! But, as someone else mentioned, this missed the absolute #1 cue which signified the beginning of the Chase, which was the buckling of the 1960's lap belt in the Charger. Might have added a bit of humor to buckle the three-point harness instead, or splice in an actual lap belt buckle🤷. Also, i was waiting for the Mustang reversing uncontrolled wheel hop at 6:39 and was dissapointed that that piece was shortened with no wheel hop. I grew up in that era, and those Mustangs without Traction Bars were notorious for wheel hop under uncontrolled acceleration. The smoky burnout by the escaping Charger exceeded the excitement of the original. And my hair stood on end with the absolutely perfect timing of the Mustang showing up in the Charger's rear view mirror.

Richard, you have always succeeding in entertaining us in the car world. Your next mission, should you choose to accept, will be building and renting cars for the movie industry and/or making movies. I will write the script, OK? We need more movies like American graffiti, and, two-lane blacktop.

Hey? The Mustang's brake lines didn't shoot out brake fluid from the underside brake lines from under the car on one of the jumps?! Eh. Close enough though. LOL

Wonder how that would have worked out with a 68 Charger and both with bias ply tires. It’s nice to redream the “good ol days” but oh how we cherry pick the good parts.

They should've either used the newer 2018 Bullitt special edition Mustang to chase the modern Challenger, or used a classic Charger which gets chased by the classic Mustang.

Everything was fine , UNTIL... I see a wrong CHARGER , in the film the winner was Mustang because it was drove by the main actor, BUT everyone knows CHARGER was better in all , speed, torque, etc...

Hi Alejandro, I read somewhere that the driver of the Charger, Bill Hickman, had to ease off on the throttle during the car chase otherwise he would have outpaced Steve McQueen. The Charger's engine had 375 hp, the Mustang's only 325.
