Rachel Brice & Illan Rivière | Thousand Year Forest
Ойын-сауық
Datura and Dancer's Ways hands together.
The divine Rachel Brice and I are happy to share with you this collaboration.
Thousand Year Forest.
This video from the genius Albert Rue translate perfectly the moment we shared together between the trees.
Thanks to Dancer's Ways, this kind of ideas can come to real.
I'm so grateful for this.
With love.
Illan.

I keep coming back to watch this incredible piece of art over, and over again. It's just so beautiful, and relaxing, and...I don't know how to describe it. 'Connecting' I guess...? I love nature and this was like watching my soul out of my body.

I thought I wouldn't like to see a man doing belly dancing, but Wow!!, it goes beyond gender or any prejudice one may have! Thank you! Beautiful choreography! Beautiful styling - so much grace. I am very glad I saw this.
There's no way anybody that sees their moves as sexy & enticing as they are can say they aren't moved by their motions. I've never seen two people move so fluently together as these two. Anybody that's had the pleasure of dancing with them in my eyes are blessed. As a matter of fact I'm looking into taking a class my husband would love it
I think it was hypnotically beautiful. The dancers move just like plants growing in the forest. I am watching it again and again.
Rachel looks so happy when she dances. beautiful

STUNNING. I can't stop watching!! Every single detail; visual and audio, beautiful!
I think they way it was edited makes it really hypnotizing. It was perfectly done in my opinion
I wish it didn't change frame every 3 seconds, the choreography looks like it was great, but it changed too much to be able to showcase the choreography or the dancers performance.

Thank you for your feedback Melissa! We intended no to do a coreography or live dancing video but a new piece of art out of a mixture of dancing and cinematography inspired by nature and the music we used.
Earth bending.
I see a very old bond that involves the divinity in between mother nature, sounds, man and woman. I love it

I've watched this performance video several times and will likely watch it over and over. Mesmerizing and hypnotic. Their movements were so fluid - reminded me of flowing water or a gentle blowing wind. A beautiful work of art - brilliant of every sense of the word.
absolutely brilliant. if you can let go of the 'i want to see dance performance ' You'll see ancient tree souls waking up and moving together symbiotically with the music . looooove it
how have I never seen this. this is amazing
Deep, very deep, so enchanting! I felt the forrest, I breathed the forrest, the moss, the leaves, the wind, I cried with joy and angst. This is a masterpiece and should be treasured by all. It means everythin g to me!!!🌳🌱🌿🍄💚💚💚

still watching this video. I don't see a problem with the editing. This is my personal opinion so take it as a grain of salt. I felt the dance, the music , and the edit fit together nicely. For me, those short bursts and bright symbols flashing back and forth felt like energy between the two dancers being shared. They seemed to work with the cuts and the dance. Just like the old trees in the forest bend and sway, feeding their energy to the planet.

Wow! Really ornate costuming and adornment, and great concept. The tree headdresses were cute but mysterious. If you could release another version where the camera would pan slowly over the dancers, so we could take them in fully, that would be great!

I really loved this, as someone who is both a belly dancer and artist (working with video and editing) I totally understand the entire aesthetic. It's about expression of movement and connecting with nature via dance and video. It felt like I was watching two nature deities waking up to celebrate Spring

Fours years? What!!!! I watched it when it first came out & now. Dahm can't believe it's been that long. Still love.
This is so powerful and mesmerizing. I felt compelled to keep watching, yet at the same time there is an intimacy projected between Ilan and Rachel which I feel is a metaphor for the meeting of the male and female aspects of nature which makes me want to look away as if I'm intruding on a moment between two lovers. Or maybe it's this sense that I'm getting to see what's going on 'on the other side of the curtain' where all the magic happens that we, as normal people, aren't ever allowed to glimpse. I'm not exactly explaining it well. To me, at least, there was this excitement of feeling as if I was watching something that I shouldn't be watching, something I'd stumbled across by accident that was somehow forbidden to me. Like an ancient tome of knowledge or maybe a hidden little doorway that peers into another realm…the dance had a dream like quality to it like that. Sort of like that, only with the sense of sensuality. I've watched other dances between them where there is not this intense tension, so I must assume it's intention. Both of Rachel and Ilan dance so well together; it's incredible how well they fit. To see Rachel's sensuality shines through unfettered so much so in a performance is a delight as always as she's such a powerful woman in whatever role she decides to dance. Ilan is also always so so beautiful, and the way he riffs off of the main theme of the movement is glorious. The dance as a whole is all so raw and lovely curves with a powerful; but controlled, disciplined and smooth sensuality which appeals to my artistic aesthetic greatly. The dance was obviously carefully planned, from the location and choreography to the make-up and the costuming. When such meticulous care is taken by the artists to create a work of art it shows their deep dedication to their art form and I, for one, am deeply appreciative for all the hard work which obviously went into making this video happen. I would expect nothing less of Rachel and Ilan, however, both of whom I have greatly enjoyed watching dance throughout the years. This video however is especially well crafted and considered and I'm so grateful to have been able to have gotten to see it! I was definitely deeply moved emotionally by the work. It also greatly appealed to my more esoteric nature. I will be thinking about this dance and coming back to watch again. It's gloriously authentic during a time when most of the world seems stuck on the superficial. I needed this, Rachel and Ilan. Thank you.

Beautiful!! But way too short. I'd love to see another rendition of this that involves rocks/mountains and water. In fact, include all the elements. Your movements are so fluid and captivating. More?
So beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!! 😍
I personally like the cuts --- most of the time. I do agree with some complaints about it jumping around too much , and there are places I think this is a problem, but I really like, for example, the cuts that show the two states alternating when they are going through a particular choreo sequence. It doesn't seem like this was really intended to be all about choreography and instead is more focused on the ambiance. Love the color palettes used!

Hi WorldisArt, that's exactly what we intended! It's all about the feelings and the ambience enhanced by nature and cinematography, not just the dancing! Thanks for your feedback!

This reminds me of the photo on the cover of Don Snyder's book "Aquarian Odyssey" about the Summer of Love. It shows eight nude dancers in a meadow lying down in a wheel formation. That was fifty years ago and I love to see this amazing spirit continuing today. Lenny Kravitz used this photo on the cover of his "Fields of Joy" album and it's also on the cover of a book called Drop City. Keep dancing! Your energy keeps the universe turning.
