Rachel Bloom: Why Crazy Ex-Girlfriend challenges romantic comedy

Rachel Bloom is the star, writer, and co-creator of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend on The CW, a TV show that plays on the idea of love and romantic obsession through musical comedy. Prior to creating Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Bloom made hilarious music videos on KZread like “F*ck Me, Ray Bradbury” and “I Steal Pets.” Bloom uses comedy and musical theater to explore love, gender, and dating, while tapping into very personal topics like anxiety and depression.

A lot of men like the idea of funny women but will go out of their way to scrutinize women who actually try to be funny. This is in the context of comedians anyway, not just every guy.

LOL, that’s hysterical. Her bad behavior is portrayed as being *very very* bad, harmful, and unacceptable. Her character is supposed to be delusional and messed up and acting badly. Just because a TV shows bad behavior it doesn’t mean it’s endorsing it. If you actually watched it you’d see the deep misery she gets herself in acting like an ass, and how she learns from it. The show is *about* deconstructing the rom-com type tropes that this kind of behavior is cute & ok in the name of “love” or “destiny”. Literally the whole point is that it’s not.

@@ewqdsacxz765 What the hell do you mean by "cheating propaganda"? Are you saying the show promotes cheating?? (If so, have you even watching...) That the show revolves around cheating??? I don't get what you're implying.
