Rachael Heffer: What does the UK think about faith? • Unapologetic

Rachael Heffer, head of mission at the Evangelical Alliance, shares her thoughts around the Talking Jesus research. What do the UK public think about the Church, Christians and Jesus? Who are the "nones" and why has there been such a rise in this category of people? What questions are young people asking? Are people actually interested in God?

Today , more than not Religion is an Obvious For Profit Business ..This is why I do not approve of much of Organized Religion . Also all people can not conform to other people repressed expectations and norms Socially and Sexually . PS :God is for Everyone , not just the zombified Sheeple- people . Since God is everywhere ,he/she/it dose not need a house or my money as far as I have learned .

As far as you have learned.... I would say it would not be very far. You referred to God as a he/she/it?? Why do you not refer to God by his preferred pronoun which is in the masculine? I have a feeling that the God you are speaking about doesn't exist at all because it is just a figment of your imagination that is very pleased with the things that please you and very displeased with the things that displease you. God has given his revelation of himself to all mankind through the Bible. It speaks plainly about who he is what he likes what he doesn't like and what he expects from us. I would suspect you have no interest in that though unless it would be that you had the ability to make God conform to your wants and needs

Talking to any rational person about first century mythology in the 21st century being real, is not going to save the ultimate demise of religious nonsense and you may get laughed at too

Just take cosmology and fine tuning for example. Is there any rational explanation for our material world “something from nothing”? What about cosmic fine tuning? Is it rational to say we are the lucky end product of and uncountable number of lucky events and sequences in the one lottery winner fro an infinite number of universes? There is a strong consensus of mainstream theologians (i.e., atheist/agnostic) that Jesus existed, was tried and crucified, buried and had many witnesses who not only claimed he arose from the dead but suffered and died themselves for that belief. Easier to believe in an incredibly stacked lottery or an omnipotent God who not only created the universe but who would easily have the power to raise his Son from the dead.

@@captivedesk3168 fine tuning is actually not the best argument for Christians. And it is not a terrible argument. God is the precondition of intelligibility. Any other worldview then the Christian worldview cannot give a rational cogent account for its own paradigm. Just like yours can't. Want to give it a try smart guy?

@@acts-me8xrI'm thinking they won't bother, as anyone who has any idea will know that trying to have a rational conversation with a presuppositionalist is akin to nailing jelly to a wall.
