After the season’s wrapped up and a new champion has been crowned, it just occurred to me how Lewis managed to do so badly (relatively speaking, in 7-time WDC standards) in his battles against Perez. Couldn’t pass him in Baku and somehow made that magic brake mistake, got massively undercut in Monaco, couldn’t pass him in Turkey, lost 7+ seconds to him in Abu Dhabi, and seeing as how close this season ended I’d say those are crucial misses for the almost perfect and almost always lucky Lewis. Checo really helped win it for Max.

Sadly, Schumacher, also starts to degrade ever since Alonso won in 05 and 06. Even then when he returned in '10 in Mercedes, it shows he's also sort of not in his prime, even with Mercedes back in 2010, the car was also pretty much mediocre.

Azerbaijan grand prix always giving us entertainment races. Even this one. Awesome battles, unexpected moments. We saw Max to crash and Lewis almost to take the win but a mistake with the brakes of the car cost him the first place and the lead of the championship. Gongratulations for Perez, taking his second win of his career and I'm happy to see Vettel again back to the podium. Bottas for another one time, awful result for him. I don't know if Mercedes will change him during the season or the next year. Personally i don't see in the future Bottas in Mercedes. Let's see what will happen to the next race.

@@princevarghese6556 when checo moved towards Lewis at the start , Lewis pressed a button by mistake that makes the car brake bias to front so he didn't even have brakes at the back so he went straight😂😂😂

There were too many incidents this season that went in favor of Hamilton. if it weren't for his mistakes he would've won for sure. And there were very few mistakes indeed but that's how much small mistakes cost for the best drivers. Hamilton and Verstappen gave us a season to remember. Hats off to both the drivers. Imo verstappen deserved the championship. Had such bad luck throughout and never gave up only to be favored by some luck at the end. One of the best F1 seasons ever thanks to two of the best drivers ever!

The racing Gods wanted Max to be champion this year. After Max having a dramatic puncture, Lewis makes a mistake we only rarely see him doing. This mistake caused him the 8th championship.

So true. This season made me appreciate Hamilton's driving. I didn't like him much before because of the sheer dominance of Mercedes, but this season for the first half of the season he didn't have the most dominant machine on the track and showed us that he can fight! loved it. Hamilton is brilliant!

@@an_omega_wolf We all knew he was great, but also made a ton of mistakes when under the pressure this season, specially early on. The mistake he made in this race was so weird, dont know if it was lack of concentration or he got confused pressing the wrong button at the restart.

Problem is, in terms of outcome... it will literally be non-consequential. Max's tire popped, Lewis went off, difference remains the same. RedBull did get a nice 25 point for WCC though. Look, if Max's tire didn't pop, he'd at the time have gotten a 11 point lead over Lewis (assuming Lewis wouldn't have gotten around Perez) in this race. If Max loses the the WDC by that margin.. well.. yes, that would be incredibly sad for him, but if that's the margin at the end - then holy cow it would've an incredible season regardless of outcome. And in the same 'what if'-scenario line of thought you could also imagine that Lewis might've thought 'lets play this restart safe and take a +18 to Max's DNF'. But he didn't, he went for a ballsy line and a 0-point finish. Fair on him. If he wins the WDC, that would mean that it could've been a bigger lead in the end. But for now, nothing changes between Ver/Ham and it's all eyes on the French GP. And I'm a Dutch Verstappen-fan. I mean I want to see a Dutchman win the WDC, but in any case I just don't want to see a titlefight where the nr1 ends up being 100 points ahead of his teammate. Not gonna lie, I know Max isn't like this, but I assume he at least had a sigh of relief when Hamilton went deep on turn 1.. I know I cheered.. If Hamilton won this, it would've killed the tension we feel.
