I’ve got this exhaust mated to a supersprint mid pipe resonator delete on my 128i and it sounds amazing. The Berk exhaust has the best sound by far on the 1 series. Not raspy and makes the car come alive.

Totally agree. It’s such a refined exhaust note as opposed to straight pipes that sound too dirty for my tastes

i just went buy their hq and picked up the street today in black. if anyone lives in southern california call them and ask about cash discount. save you about a bill. i put the mids on a few months ago. had a dinan muffler but it was almost 10 yrs old. hope it sounds better. race is the way to go if you keep your cat. i got a race cat cuz the smell was to much with catless. miss the extra horses but i like windows down.

not exactly sure what you’re referring to but the rubber bits are hangers to it doesn’t vibrate like crazy. made to dampen some of the noise and vibrations

@@apexpxl there is a flat bracket welded on top with 4 holes. one has threading for a bolt. came with a washer and nut that looks like the same size as the threading. stock exhaust have a bracket and threaded hole for a rubber cylinder that I think is for noise/vibration reduction.

I have this same exhaust except with the muffler. I had such an awful time with the mid-pipe install. The studs on the downpipe broke taking off stock. Which I figured normal nuts and bolts would be a fine replacement. but that downpipe is in such a bad spot to try and get a wrench on the back and tighten down the bolts. It just never fit right for me and I've had leaks. Guess I'll have to get back under one day and see if replacing the studs will help.

Oh gosh! We got pretty lucky that everything was in good condition under the car. Not to exhaust installs will ever be the same but it sounds like you could even replace the Dow pipe with something my aggressive and that will fix your seized bolt issues 😛

get a downpipe and it will probably come with the bolts. the vrsf did. but then you have to play with the clamp before it. might as well buy a clamp too if going that route.

Damn this set up with DP would be ridiculously loud. I'm looking at berk but can't decide between muffler vs no muffler. I have DP's so could be well over the top with no muffler. May just get both options to swap around haha

Sounds really good. I want to replace exhaust to this or vrsf. Honestly I feel like a lot of e82s have a trumpet sound. This sounds like a dragon. You probably mentioned it but are you catless?

Of course! The bumper itself is stock but the diffuser is aftermarket. If you Google “Duraflex R1 Rear Diffuser” you should be able to find it.

when this vid went up it was stock down pipes and the berk tech exhaust from the video. slight tune for the burbles 👍🏼

How is the drown on the highway at 70MPH?

Very manageable in my opinion. It’s probably worst around 60-65 at ~2,000rpm but once you get over 70-80 (which seems to be the flow of traffic where I live) the car gets comfortable (~2,300rpm) It’s easy to have conversations with a passenger all throughout, especially with the windows up. Drop the windows and up the RPMs however, and that N55 goodness really comes alive 🤤

how much hp does this add? or is it just performance

hard to say the numerical impact on HP without dynoing the car before and after (though berk may have actually done this about 10 years back). the car feels more responsive and certainly likes to rev higher with the setup on but the primary benefits are for sure in the exhaust note & tone

@@apexpxl I think he's reffering to in the mhd settings there's an option for stock downpipe burbles or catless downpipe burbles. Choose the catless down pipe and add burbles for the duration and aggressiveness that you prefer. It will sound great on soft or medium for a duration of about a 1-1.5secs

Haha ahh gotcha! I think I mentioned there’s not burble tune on the car but the more I think about it, there probably is from the previous owner. He set it up with stage 1+ and left it for me to enjoy. Might have to dive into the MHD side of this more fully pretty soon 😈

Wondering if I bite the bullet and go catless as well. I figure the car is still quite enough to slide under the radar but catless would sound so nice!! Not to mention, it’d make the car come alive a bit more. Will see what I end up with in the coming weeks 😈

hard to say not knowing the configuration of your stock exhaust. i don’t think it’ll be a plug and play fit but there’s tons of options out there for N52

@jasonchen7619 looks like VRSF has a nice option for your car. Can’t say as though all the Berk pieces will mount properly with your car. you could always buy the exhaust and pay a shop to make it work (fabricate mounts, etc). Would need to take a look under your car and measure some pieces to see what would work. I’d recommend hitting the forums for your car and see what others have done / what works best!
