    I own a Hik Micro Stellar SH 50 and an ATN X Sight 4k Pro. I agree the vision does look a lot like a thermal. Without knowing the distances the big difference between IR and thermal is that my IR gives a more detailed picture than the thermal. Thermal really shines in picking up targets when there is scrub or long grass. That Alpex image is excellent in my view.

    I know very little about 'night vision' scopes being here in Canada, ( it's a wonder we cans till buy ammunition, le alone be permitted to use kit like you have. Having said this, I think BOTH videos are clear as one could hope for. I do know CZ rifles as I have a few of those in all rimfire sizes and these are well worth the money. Thanks for this video Jim, very enjoyable viewing.

    Thanks for your honest videos of this scope I have one now. I got a big dog fox with no IR the other night near my lambing ewes. Plenty of moon though. Still just learning but foxes here ( Australia ) that have been missed under spotlight are very difficult with out night vision or thermal. Do you use 850 nm on foxes ? How much better are the aftermarket torches over the one with the scope. All the best.

  • @jimwood

    @jimwood

    9 ай бұрын

    No worries and thankyou for your comment. Yes it's a great scope I love my one especially when I put it on night mode with no ir. If there is plenty of moonlight you don't really need a torch. Regarding the aftermarket torches I use an optic fire tx38 and a irlightbuilds laser. Those are my goto torches. The optic fire is an 850nm. To be honest it's not that much better than the torch supplied with the scope but at longer range it is slightly better. I do have a couple of ir torches which I haven't tried with it yet. It's so difficult to target foxes if they are lamp shy which is where thermal scopes are the way to go. If you have anymore questions about the scope let me know mate. All the best Jim 👍

    Thanks mate 👍 and that's interesting about the cheetah, I still have one here on loan and I found it to be ok if I'm honest, but I would say out to 100 yards max. More suited for closer range. The Alpex is so much better it really is the best day/night vision I've owned. I would say your lrf should work well with it I'm actually thinking of getting one for now to try with it so if you get the Alpex let me know if it works well with the lrf as I would be interested to know 👍

    Hi nice vid so helpful i'm getting in to thermal rifle scopes can you give me 3 choices of what u recommend ,well be putting it on different calibers to try out 22, 17hmr ,22 mag or 223 mostly yardage well be 50 yards to max 150 yards and the budget 2000, 00 mostly coyote and racoons, thank you 👍

  • @jimwood

    @jimwood

    Hi firstly thank you for watching my video. Regarding the thermal scopes I use the hikmicro stellar sq50 it's fantastic but you probably won't find one for 2000 but you might be lucky. That would be my number choice. Secondly I would choice the iray tube tl35 it's really good image quality it records video but not sound. And thirdly I would go for the Pulsar thermion 2 xq50. Both of the last 2 you would pick up for under 2000. Bare in mind I haven't tried all thermal scopes but the 3 I have suggested would be my goto scopes. The hikmicro panther PH 35mm thermal is a great unit to especially on base mag but does pixilate when you zoom in abit. This one does have a built in LRF which is handy. One down side is if you use cheap 18650 batteries they don't last long so buy the best ones you can. This scope is also under 2000 I have done a video and review on it so check it out. I hope this has been helpful to you. 👍

    @stephenlewis6903 for some reason there seems to be an issue on profile A not sure why. Try zeroing on a different profile it should be OK. I use C,D,&E they are alot better. Its not bang on in line but its only a fraction out. Also I hide the time icon you can turn this off because if you leave it on its right in the PIP box which doesn't help. I'm an independent reviewer so I say it as it is. I get sent alot of products to try which is great but have to return them. In my opinion people want honest reviews so that's what I do. What I find wrong with products other paid youtubers won't mention which is wrong I think. I wouldn't worry about doing an update just yet just see how you get on with it first but if you decide to do one you won't lose your profile settings. Yeah still use it mate. It's on my .22lr at the moment. I find the image quality really good day or not, personally I prefer night footage and if you put it on night mode when it's dusk it looks like a thermal in black hot mode. The objective focus is quite still I find and for some reason profile A is a no go for zeroing as the reticle doesn't centralise but does on the other profiles. Honestly mate I really do like this scope yes there are a couple of issues like any other digital scope but the overall performance is brilliant I think.
