This is a wonderful drive taken by C E C - UGC. It is very important to create interest in our younger generation to know about and learn our Heritage Music ... coming from Saamved. It makes no difference whether the lecturer is speaking in English or in Hindi as long as she or he is fluent in the language she is rendering the language in. In this case Dr. Ms. Sarita Pathak is quite fluent in the language she is speaking in. And its more important how she demonstartes and explains a raga. She has done it the maximum .... best in every minute, presised details, supported well with her rich voice. And what I found as her foremost credibility is that she did not look into or referred to the papers or sheets kept in fron. She carried out the entire lecture without looking into the papers even once in this part of her lecture, with out missing a bit of every important matter in the raaga. She has a melodious voice with enriched with granules (jawari) in her voice. I like the Raaga picked up here ... Bhupalai and also Yaman Kalyan and all the more when the two Raagas are combined is then Raaga Shuddha Kalyan. My regards to her and pranams to her Guru - maa Vidushi Smt. Sulochana Brahaspati - Ji.

this is indeed a boon for music students. your explanation is crystal clear and your renditions contribute to the understanding. old people like me can learn at home thanks to this UGC venture. I am more comfortable in English and I think the younger generation and non Indians too can benefit due to the explanation in English

Thanks a lot of the lecture. One suggestion is please don't force Dr Sarita pathak to give lecture in English as you can see she is more comfortable in Hindi and is able to explain more effectively when she is giving lecture in Hindi. Please don't make language a barrier for the speaker. Majority of the audience of Hindustani classical vocal music understand Hindi

Pranam Saritaji, Thank you so much for explaining Raags in detail. I am an old woman but after retirement want to learn classical music -Raags, which I could not do in my childhood. Finally trying to fulfill my wish. I just started learning but what I am learning is 1/100 th of what you are teaching. Now after listening to your lectures, I fill I am not even learning basics. My book has aaroh avaroh for the Raag, Vadi-Samvadi Swar, Some time Pakad, but does not even discuss about it. Some time there is a sargam and one bandish. Taan, Palta, etc is new for me and when I asked I was told that you learn that in later part {3rd to 4th year). I am in US. Is there any way I could have notes for each raag , is it availalbe some place? Once I have something to go by, I will understand and pick up fast. I am too old to wait but do want to learn, Your advice of not hurrying and go slow is perfect and encourages me that I can do it. I am not able to do SRGMPDNS in aakar in faster speed. is ther any way I get notes for taans, palte etc?
