R46 and R179 (A) Trains long relaying along Culver

Ойын-сауық

On December 2nd 20232, A general order rerouted A trains to end at Jay Street Metro Tech on the (F) line platform. Usaually when this General Order takes place trains relay at the Lower Level of Bergen Street which is not visible to the public. However the switch used for relaying trains malfunctioned and therefore caused (A) trains to have to use the next closest switch to relay. The next switch is located at 4th avenue 9th Street which is a above ground station on the Culver line. On the way to 4th avenue 9th street The trains pass Smith 9th Street. In this video we see R46s and R179s using the Culver line tracks to relay, something very unusual. Enjoy the Video!

Long relaying is when the train is unable to use the nearest switch to relay for whatever reason so it travels and extra distance to the next closest switch and relays there
