The only thing I have to say is that although there are a lot of things that are different / have shown advances compared to the r179's, it didn't really feel that different riding it to me. A lot of people have said it is a lot smoother but I couldn't really tell. Maybe it was the fact that I only took it 2 stops down or was too excited about the fact that I was on it to notice. But other than that besides me riding it for the first time, my parent recently started training to operate them.

You didn’t have to wait very long to catch it! Luck was definitely on your side that day. Too bad that there are only two open gangway trains at the moment but hopefully more will arrive and that they become the standard subway cars. Was there no way that every single car can be open gangway? Seems strange that you have to get off the train just to switch from hard shell to soft shell and vice versa. Was there a reason for that design choice?

Hong Kong uses longer cars that are connected as well. So figuring a 10 car train in NYC with cars being 60 ft each would create a train length of 600 ft, it should be doable.

GGS, I had the same thought as you when I first saw the soft connectors. I could easily imagine someone spilling a coffee on them leaving a forever stain. Or a fool with a marker defacing them. I say go hard. Cheers from Wisconsin!
Im so happy you didn't quit!
Nice catch i enjoy the videos man
I'll be looking forward to seeing this when I'm in New York this summer. I've been on light rail trains in many cities that have the fabric accordion "soft" dividers, and I'd definitely agree that the hard ones are superior.
i been watching suprtoe for like almost 7 years and its been fun (if you remember nyctrain//a train boi thats me.)
Great job hunting this absolute monster down!
Lucky you, the R211T showed up right away and you didn't have to wait all day for one to show up. The hard shell design looks safer to me than the soft shell. I am hoping to catch one of these soon. I have still yet to ride any of the R211 sets.
R211T’s are amazing! I’ll have to hunt them down again when I get the chance.
Finally he did an r211T video I have been waiting for 15 days I still think MTA should use the soft version since it’s wider and plus the soft shells are very safe if mta protects it
Very Lucky Catch!🎉
Nice job. I hope for future versions like the upcoming R262 they figure out how to improve the design to run on the express lines .

The R262s will definitely have the hard shell. The R262As end ways I'm telling you.
Didn’t notice the difference between soft/hard shells! It would be nice to have those in boston, the best we get is the connection between the halfs of Green Line trolleys and walking between CR coaches
As a former R211 foamer, i prefer the r211t soft shell, but at one point someone might hallucinate while walking through the gangways like your walking through the whole entire train. But yeah i like softshell more then hard shell
the hard shell r211 is asome it allows people to go to different carts without crowding!
I actually caught an R211T C train yesterday afternoon but it took off once I got to Hoyt Street going the opposite direction. I saw so many R211s yesterday and I missed my chance to ride it yesterday darn 😢
Hey super Toe I was on an R46 W train just for you , and an R160 E train on Wednesday.
Cool nice job 👍
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤nice video suprtoe and do you remember that old suprtoe vs new suprtoe
I didn't expect the interior part of the gangway to be a wall, but I guess it's better so no one decides to try wrecking it
Right, we have the soft shell gangway connectors on basically all rolling stock here in the UK, for example on the S-Stock on the London Underground, they have the soft shell, people are basically used to it, but on something like the DLR, if I remember properly they have the hard shell, which personally I prefer because its not like your gonna get finger stuck, so I understand why you seemed to feel a bit off about those shells. Nice video anyway lad!

Also I just wanted to say I've been watching your videos since I was around 5-7 years old, which was about 8-10 years ago, I found your channel after like a good year or two so I'm glad to have you on my recommended again.
Man Suprtoe you lucky to see the r211T
The soft shell rubber & jiggly ribbed things look a bit creepy when they jiggle and wiggle.
I remember my first time taking a 211, it was so amazing because I remember it being around a week or so after they got put into service.

I think it's worth adding that I haven't seen the R211T's yet, as I haven't really needed to take the A or C lines anymore since I moved schools. I hope once I get to see it IRL that I will notice the differences better. 😭😭

The only potential issue I see is, there will be those blocking the door while trying to figure out where to go, especially at platforms that have multiple connections from it like Canal St (N) platform.
I think i prefer the hard shell because it gives a place to lean, but we'll have to see what they go with in the end
The same thing happened to me at Euclid age I wasn’t even expecting it to come and it showed up so I got on I was actually waiting for the A R211 since it less of a wait cause in more in service..I didn’t even know until I watched this that the hard shell and soft shell is a 5 and 5 split of one train I thought it was separate trains glad you were able to catch it super p.s. if anyone can tell me what that thing is connected to the end of the seats I banged my elbow on it when I was on it
I like the soft shell and how roomy it was but i agree with ya on this. the harder shell would be better in this case.
Hong Kong MTR has hard shell over gangway that’s almost as wide as the trains cars. They’re also super quiet
Finally came on video
Nice job super toe caught ing the train

You mean caught
Next video you should do is a rolling stock bingo where you ride, each one of the different types.
I'm surprised they didn't choose the "rubber shroud" setup used on Toronto's Rocket-Series trains - I stand in the middle of those articulations all the time no prob.
@SuprToe
3 ай бұрын
Standing in the articulation point on either of these is mostly fine. I haven’t been to Toronto, yet, but I’m mostly concerned about the longevity of either of these shells in the NYCT system.

Do u guys know if the R211T run on the Weekends?
I rode both R211 A and C trains 6 days before you!
Imagine telling a guy in the 80s about this train
Idea:go to the transit museum
Those screens are definitely a huge upgrade, the only problem is safety and cleanliness. If one person gets sick, will they have to remove the entire train out of service?
@SuprToe
4 ай бұрын
I think they do that anyway on a train if one person gets sick? IDK. I would say I felt safer on the open gangways. We all know, on regular rolling stock, as soon as that door between cars opens some dumb s*** is about to happen.

@@SuprToe On regular trains, they evacuate the car where the sick passenger was so they remove the train car out of service. But you’re right about the last part lol

Just passed another one right behind supertoe so there’s 2 R211T’s
When can you do a TSN or WTN?
Why the R211’s Display for the destinations on the outside was flashing a lot
the R211S are out
Gotta say, if they put these on the J, specifically the soft shells, you can’t put them anywhere NEAR Crescent St. you all know why

They can, except it would involve a lot of work with the shops/lifts prior doing so. Toronto has 6 car trains (75 ft cars) that are connected and the total length of their trains is 450 ft. Hong Kong uses longer cars that are connected as well. So figuring a 10 car train in NYC with cars being 60 ft each would create a train length of 600 ft, it should be doable.
Are you doing another video
By The Way, (S) From Grand Central To Times Square (1) (For A "P" To 14th St (A) To 42nd St (M) To 5th Ave (7) To Times Square (Q) To 14th St (N) To Atlantic Ave (For Spelling The Word "Spamton") (Made A Mistake Last Time)
