R1Liz - R1250GSA - First ride on a proper GS (ft. appropriate GS weather)
(CW - some bad words)
Today Pinky went into Bahnstormers for her 12k service, and her pre-Norway checks. New tyres, oil and filter change, new air filter, brake clean and thorough once over. I was half expecting to need a new chain but we think we're going to be ok. As it was a longer service, and I wanted to do it anyway, I had a go on a new R1250GSA (low), here is my first reaction.
Of course I like it. Enjoy the video :)
Typically now I'm home with no further plans to ride this weekend, the rain has stopped, there's even rumours that this elusive 'sun' is going to come out. Imagine that...

BMW needs to use "this bike could read me bedtime stories and I'd have the best dreams" in their marketing.

I think they should use “If it’s moving, it’s stable, if it’s not moving, it isn’t.” in the user manual.

Best line I've ever heard
Once you ride one you understand. It’s cliche but so true. One bike to rule them all.
I have a BMW GS310R - love it as I am older - so pushing it up the slope to my garage is easy! 👍
Glad you have had the opportunity to try out the GSA, they are amazing bikes
Hi R1liz a another entertaining and informative vlog l look forward to every Sunday for your new vlogs ❤
You did great, that GS is a big old bus and you handled it well. Ive had several S1000 rr BMW bikes and got a KTM 890 Aventure R now for a change. Have to say the rr's are so smooth and comfortable but if you want can be brilliant on the track. Took mine touring and on lots of circuits in uk and europe. Just superb machines with great dealers like Barnstormers. Enjoyed the content. Cheers 👍
I have a few bikes in my Garage. A GSA is one of them. Honestly.... its not a bike I look at on a sunny Sunday and say "YESSS!!! Let's go". I always go for one of my sports bikes. However if I do take out the GS, every time, and I mean every time I smile a little and say to myself "these really are a great bike". They just feel civilised. I just came back from the pyrenees with mine and they really are the touring machine. You sit there, in comfort and just munch the miles. Last day I did over 750k and I got off with no pain. You are right though, you're decisions have to be solid in stopping, going, turning etc. Best of luck for when you buy your new GS 😂😂
Great riding Liz look like a pro great vision so confident ❤❤ ride safe was the service expensive ride safe look forward to seeing your trip

Svarty was never going to last, I love him but I think I’ve scratched the itch now, give him a little while longer but he will be part exchange fodder
Great vid again, Liz, you don`t have to by a GS to have a touring bike, you can by the RS , same as the GS just better in higer speed, and cheaper. Ask Kate about it.
great vid and nice riding in rubbish condition - having toured around europe for 10 years with a couple of friends on their GSA's I have been adamant I didn't need one, 5 different bikes later (including a sweet R1250RS) I'm now on a GSA and completely agree with the end-game statement!

It’s easily an endgame bike but I feel it would definitely need some garage buddies to fill the few gaps… an RR, a Svarty and a GS would be spot on 😂 but I say this with a lot of bikes
Love my 1250GS been across the US on it twice, riding From Florida to New York at the end of the month. They are addicting.

@@R1_Liz The food? It's here for sure, still amazed I've managed to maintain my European body in fat America.
Try turning the bars to full right lock when climbing on as it creates space. Please get to know what all the switches do as you are possibly missing out kit that will help 👍
✌😘
I hate putting wet hands in dry gloves. Complete nightmare, but all to common in our lovely UK summer weather.

Order some yellow sticky fly traps to get the fruit flys off your plants, that should help a lot (And try a Tracer if you like sitting up but less weight!) 😎

They are thrips and I think I’ve mostly dealt with it now I’ve just got half my plants in my bath tub 😩
Love your channel and glad you got out on the massive GS. I want one! Just a polite tip, noticed in all your videos you seem to ride along in low gears. Most bikes are happy to ride along in 6th gear from 40mph. Might save you some fuel on your Norway trip 👍🏼
Looks like a pink GS is only a matter of time….
Actually been enjoying riding my Tiger in the rain lol, how long before you crack and buy one 😂

It’s a weird switch with rain, sometimes it sucks, sometimes I love it 😬 There’s no way I’d buy one for a while but it’s nice to have experienced it and know that it’s there for later down the road.
The next time Pinky goes to the spa, try one of the K bikes, I’d like to see that video!

Sports bike to a 1250 GS that,s a jump and a half. I have a RT1200 and a 800GS cos I can pick that up on the dirt don't rate the 1200GS too heavy off road.
You will end up buying one soon 😂😂 get a triple black like mine

I am amazed that the bike dealer allows test rides and loaner bikes there. Over here, Canada, dealers claim their insurance doesn’t allow test rides. Unless you know owner and give your annual salary then maybe.

In the UK in most dealers they have a fleet of demo vehicles just for this purpose! Usually you have to be over 25 and with a full licence for more than 2 years, and you sign a document promising to pay up to around £1-2000 if you damage the bike. It’s great!
Just curious Liz...are ALL those vehicles that you pass on the road, driving UNDER the speed limit.? Like your show, but can't help wondering if you are riding a bit too fast!? I'm just a concerned viewer from 🇦🇺🌹

Yep, I don’t think I did anything excessive - the conditions were terrible and I’d like to have a clear road in front of me - better to be in a bubble of space than sat in a queue

I’m saving the delights of GS ownership for when my back can’t cope with a sportsbike anymore. Maybe by then the GSs will be electric. There’s a horrible thought for you.
