R1Liz - Iceland with S1000RR - P7 - First Day on Iceland!
Finally my bike and I have arrived at Iceland!
The weather has been good enough that I’m able to travel north and see the half of the island that I wasn’t expecting to visit! So without much of a plan, off we go.
The bike is feeling great, we’ve had a few slips in gravel but other than that, the roads are fine. I think it’s a relief to get away from the heatwave back home, and both of us can breath in the crisp cold air.
I will work on the wind noise problem. Annoyingly, the mic I purchased for my phone camera worked when I tested it at home, but has since given up. Hopefully the visuals make up for it…

Enjoying the Iceland trip so far from here in Norway. Thanks. Gifflar are good! Did you know you can get them at Tesco and Morrisons in the UK - and of course IKEA cos they are Swedish. God tur videre!

Thank you! Hi Norway 💙 I found Gifflar in Tescos after I went to Norway and discovered them 😁 but they feel like a road trip food so I only buy it when I’m on a road trip

Looks great. If you hadn't been following the local guy who obviously knew the roads, would you have felt as confident about the road surface having sufficient stickiness on the bends? I'd be nervous about ice patches.

Thanks! I really did appreciate him, he set the tone for my riding, and without him I think I’d have sat safely behind a caravan for a lot longer 😅
Looks worth a visit - think i''ll fly and hire a Hi-Lux though! - good on you to ride to the ferry Etc.- i'd imagine very little traffic too.

It was nearly empty in the north, the south was a little busy with tourists but I imagine it gets a LOT busier in the summer

Pretty difficult to get lost in Iceland - one main road going round, only a few big towns - so long as you recognise the town names you’ll be fine and won’t need one except for in Reykjavik

Nahhhh they’re fine I think in some places they look a bit iffy, but I avoid the iffy patches just in case
