Hello, if referring to the two different Gibbs free energy change equations, how would you differentiate them when using words to name them rather than symbols as they are both Gibbs free energy?

One is the standard Gibbs free energy change and the other is just the Gibbs free energy change. The only difference is one is at standard conditions whereas the other is not.

What is the later video mentioned concerning the point of max entropy?

I think it never materialised, unfortunately. All students really need to know is that at equilibrium entropy is at its maximum. There is no explanation required.

5:08. I just don't get how you go from the third equation to the fourth equation

To go from the third equation to the fourth requires you to know about rules of natural logs aka "ln" that is seen in the equation. A key law for natural logs states that subtracted logs can be rewritten in the form of division. Ex: ln(Q)-ln(K)= ln(Q/K) Starting with the third equation: 1. Rearrange so that the right side reads: " RTln(Q)-RTln(K)" 2. Factor out RT so that the right side reads: "RT[ln(Q)-ln(K)]" 3. Use the law of natural logs that I explained above so that the right side reads: "RTln(Q/K)" Hope this helps!

niamh de burca This is not necessary in IB chemistry.
