Hi brother, I get the entropy thing. But if you see the equation at 6:53, the entropy is positive. But what if you had to compare it to another reaction that was positive and had all gaseous products. How do you determine which has a higher entropy?
@MSJChem

In this case, you would have to calculate the actual entropy change for the reaction. That would tell you which reaction has the greatest entropy change.

Thank you for the video, but how do we know the surrounding(>>0) outweighs the system which is negative, leading to a positive total entropy for this equation Cao(s)+CO2 - CaCo3.

The reaction between CaO and CO2 is a decrease in entropy because we have one mole of solid and one mole of gas forming one mole of solid. The reverse equation would be a positive entropy change.

The value was converted to joules because entropy is given in J/K mol.
