Starting this first boss from checkpoint is rough because you really have no way of attacking behind you.

    Oh man R-Type Final 2! Been getting into shmups lately and this one has been keeping me having fun for a while now. The biggest thing I have had to learn so far is to be willing to play without the Force attached, since the vulcans are actually really good at doing things that you otherwise can't without the right Laser equipped. Didn't notice the first episode so imma put my current methods for stage one in here too: Stage 1: Leo2 - the Leo series gets 2 bits instead of 1 from pickups and turns 1 bit into 2 if you switch to it, so I figure I may as well get that ASAP, since I want 2 bits for stage 2. Generally just try and build as much DOSE as I can. Stage 2: Mariko, OF Force 2 - Could also use the OF2, but Mariko lets you use better pods. Just keep the Red Laser and use it to keep the screen clean and detach it to shotgun the plant bulbs with the vulcan. As for the boss, that is why I want 2 pods, since detaching your Force shoots your Pods out, which can get the weakpoints pretty well, also in slow mode you can pretty easily match the speed of the boss and shotgun it with the Red Laser and contact damage from the Force Stage 3: No Chaser - People really seem to sleep on this series, which is a shame because I love the Gallop Force DX. You can change speed to change how the Force shoots and the Red Laser at minimum speed just shreds whatever you aim it at. The Homing Wave Cannon deals with the enemy swarms pretty well, and if you need damage ahead of you with the Force on your back you can detach it since the Force's vulcan is all straight ahead dealing pretty strong damage. Sadly I have yet to one cycle the boss with this setup, though I have come close.

    Continuing on with more R-Type! 9:44 - 9:54 - I love the clamp like effect the beams have here.

    Just kind of noting at this point this game really seems to prefer a lot the player using more of a burst breaker strategy than a suppression one.
