Gotta love that the ship pilots most dreaded for it's blatant lack of humanity in design is called "Happy Days". It shows a glimpse of the value of individual humans in the R-Type universe. Also the test tube canopy is so very inhumane.😓

In this episode we go on a starway to the dunger zone, a mix of a dungeon and the danger zone made out of old stinky socks lost during laundry runs

I'm still missing a nice gray sock that seemed to vanish from my laundry several weeks ago. Usually if a sock goes AWOL, it'll eventually turn up buried inside of a shirt that I had washed with it or something, but this one is still at large. Maybe it ended up in Narnia? :P

@@Rie-Vinaca I remember there being one in a Family Guy spoof when Peter Griffin was missing yet another sock. I don't remember if there was one there in the original tale, though.

Its good to see R-Type seeing a resurgence that people can enjoy. And if one is curious, yes there is quite a few things that are added in Final 2 that was from the Tactics duology such as the three resources Solonium, Etherium, and Bydogen among other things that one will see over the course of the game. Both Tactics games are currently available in English on the PSP, the first game being released to the West as "R-Type Command" while the second game, "Operation Bitter Chocolate" while never officially being ported to the West does have a fan-made English translation patch available if one wishes to know the story of the games in full for themselves.

IIRC, there is a compilation remake with both games in the works. Tactics Cosmos, I think

R-type... the game with more lore than it's cousin Gradius. Cross the Rubicon and all that. Parodius is Gradius's step sibling.

Awesome! Your R-Type videos were how I first found your channel way back when. I’ve been on the fence about buying this ever since it came out. I’ve only ever played R-Type 1, 2, and 3. But now I think I’ll finally pick it up. Probably later this week.

Ooh, we're finally getting to R-Type Final 2! And, I love how the video opens with the lore timeline, just like when you were doing your All the R-Types series in the past. (8:30) Oof, that sounds like an annoying glitch or oversight alright. They could just be able to add something like a simple "Esc key = back out" routine, right? (9:04) I vote for QVZ, just to be silly. :P (I'd vote for 712X, but that would require four slots, and you only get three.) (18:19) Maybe "Djiladtril" is this game's "Pappy van Poodle". And yes, I just attempted to Google search "Djiladtril" myself, and it did indeed return 0 results right now. I wonder how long that'll remain the case? That blue sphere attack of yours is royally obscuring your vision, and yet you managed to not get wrecked by anything anyway! (43:55) Flawless victory! I'm a big fan of Final 2 simply because it revitalized R-Type. The tactics games are coming to steam soon too! They did *so* many cool things with this game and have given a lot of new players a chance to experience R-Type.

Almost forgot about this coming out. Good to see it hit the channel at last. Did not expect the background story of it. Good developer, love that kind of passion. 20:20 Not sure how safe that outfit is for combat flight. Is it regulation? *_Find out next time, on Final Fantasia Z!_*

Time for a shoot 'em up with R-Type Final 2! Definitely a lot of things put into this one, it almost had my head spinning.

A very interesting note about the "Practice" difficulty is that is allows slow motion, less enemies with less health, but more interestingly bosses have simplified attack patterns which I learned the hard way when I was going from practice to kids mode then got curb stomped by patterns I never even seen before. My Lesson: Just play on kids or higher because practice may create a larger stop gap when moving up difficulties than normal

Yeah practice is basically the "Get materials when you dont have time for a full stage" difficulty... especially since if you game over you don't get materials for it, you HAVE to beat the boss

Maybe would've been nice if "Practice" was just a modifier to any other difficulty, so that you could try out the advanced patterns at the slower "Practice" speed.

I hesitate to buy R-type final 2. Did they ever make a gold edition with all the ships, instead of that pay as you go stuff?

My goal with Final 1 was to play the game through with every single ship. I think I got 25-50% of the way through. In theory every ship is possible to complete every rout on every difficulty. I was never that good.

You seem to think the ships are DLC. Aside from very special ones, theyve never been DLC. You buy them with in game currency earned by playjbg the game and being at least vaguely passable at it. Just like how Final 1 worked, except now you also need the other currencies depending on what ship it is - the currencies of which are also all earned from playing and being at least vaguely passable at the game.

I know how the previous game worked, everything could be unlocked, yes. Pack 1, pack 2, pack 3, pack 4, pack 5, pack 6.... Those are NOT in the game. The game does not have everything. I'll wait for the gold edition so I can just buy the game, once, and have everything. I don't do this "buy the game a piece at a time" nonsense.
