A lot of people end up playing the event though, and it goes on for long enough that people are able to make images and text, all by drawing along with random strangers on the internet, or grouping up and working together.

Yeah, towards the beginning, it was a sloppily-drawn leaf, but after a certain point it wad a perfectly decent-looking leaf under constant assault by griefers trying to prolong the joke.

I love what France and Ireland were doing there really creative

The French square is so beautifully detailed and those madlads redrew the whole thing multiple times while Canada struggled so bad they had to write their country name just to make it clear wtf it’s supposed to be.

I mean, France was openly cheating. They claimed to only be using a mod to tell them exactly where to place pixels, but they were also one of several groups caught using bots. Canada, meanwhile, was doing things fair and square, but it's hard enough for one person to draw a good maple leaf. Coordinating so many people to draw one a pixel at a time? That's super hard, between the potential for misplaced pixels and the constant attempts to grief it.

You can see the wine constantly getting drank and refilled throughout the entire thing, no grieving that really destroys it, just people being thirsty. This is the kind of grieving I can get behind.

Bananas vs Canada war was thing that made me laugh the most

the best part is when Germany decided to put a leaf on their flag and did it in like 30 minutes

@@ad3l547 Search for France botting r/place, there are a bunch of threads about it. Biggest flag on the canvas, raided by a ton of giant streamers from different timezones. Hard to believe French people are able to defend against thousands of raiders at 6 in the morning. The bots are programmed to place a specific color in a specific spot, so when the r/place ended and all colors got replaced with white the entire French flag dissapeared in under 5 minutes. People complained about this a lot once the event was over since Reddit didnt put any requirements as to who can participate, so an account that is 0 days old with 0 karma and a randomized name is able to place pixels. Kinda ruins the point of the entire event.

only that you could just put a template over it and then put the pixel in the right place, like, fuck the rest of the flag if it turns into cannabis or bananas. you could have just kept the form of the leave while all that happens. not even make it red and let the wrong red ones go away, just make the outer line black for now

Actually banana isn't a Republic, it cames from a coup where the people of banana designed their leader for life

The "Colombia" being turned into a bunch of Among Us characters is a testament to it's time.

They’re struggling this year too. They’ll get it eventually.

Can you imagine the stress of that though? You’re trying to coordinate drawing this really vague shape, and you look over and see the people next to you drawing a baguette, the Eiffel Tower, and ANIMATED wine.. Props to the goose that slipped in there a few times. The wolf(?) suddenly getting a drink was my favorite part of this area though.

The coordination wasn't the hard part. We had the template finished pretty early on. The trouble was fighting off the bots. I was there, trying to keep things under control. 90% of the accounts placing incorrect pixels were fresh accounts with no karma. We never figured out who was botting against us, but it was pretty obvious someone was.
