I served 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and two combat tours in Vietnam, we didn't have a Toby Keith then but we did have a Bob Hope,. Toby came along later. He's always been one of my favorites and he always stood up for America and her fighting men and women. Rest in Peace sir, Semper Fi ! Tom Boyte GySgt. USMC, retired Vietnam 1965-66/1970-71 0369, Infantry unit leader.

I've never been a country music fan, but I'm a huge Toby Keith fan! My daughter was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. She had the pleasure of seeing Toby. She would call home after and there would be a calmness in her voice. For that, I'm forever grateful that he loved our Military. My daughter was 18 when she was deployed to Iraq and her little bad ass would never admit it, but it's hard to hide things from mom. I could hear some fear and uncertainty in her voice. Thank you for your service, Mr. Keith! We've lost a true Patriot!

Mz, please tell your Daughter WELCOME HOME AND THANK YOU FOR OUR FREEDOM. because of her and those she served with, my grandchildren grew up safe and free. I am forever grateful. I am a ol submarine veteran and I am still so proud of all our military and thier response to 9/11. They made us so proud. They fought with the same patriotism and bravery as those who came before them. As far as Toby, I wish we had him when I served. This song made me wanna re up lol. I was to old anyway. I'm so glad Toby was there to boost the morale of our troops. He truly loved them and cared about them. This goes to show there are multiple ways to serve your country. Now Toby and Charlie Daniels are playin' to those who fell and the Angels. Prayers for his family.

💔 This one hurts, doesn't it? It sure has hit me hard. i've taken comfort though in watching the many reactions to his videos and reading their comments. What a legacy Toby has! He has touched so many lives across the globe. And every reactor that i've seen, that hasn't known of him, world wide, now know what we Toby Keith fans have known from the start... Sleep gentle, Big Dawg Daddy. We'll keep your music playing. i love you, cowboy...🙏🕯️ 🩵☘️🥀

Only idiots or willfully ignorant jerks, 'people', would call Toby's reaction controversial; those idiots deserve to get ignored. Toby was like most of the rest of us; angry about a terrorist attack (it's even in the title) and had been led to believe something. There's absolutely nothing wrong about being a patriot and nothing wrong with getting mad when our nation gets attacked from outside of it. That really was a sucker-punch that we suffered. Any OTHER controversy around this was not Toby's doing. Start looking at the real problem, not at the effect the problem had on everybody else. Look for a solution to the problem; instead of looking at the site of the wound, find the hand that held the knife.

When I served I wish we had that song! He brought a boost of morale to many a military person. In that song he didn't just bring " the boot in yer ass" he brought everything good about America to the troops and they yes " so we can rest in peace at night when we lay down our heads". Now that Toby is gone, "Uncle" Charlie Daniels is gone. Who is gonna step up to the plate?

This flag now called the Star Spangled Banner was commissioned by Lt. Colonel George Armistead, who took commission of Fort McHenry around 1813. Two flags were made the larger being a "garrison flag". But this was no ordinary flag. Today's garrison flags are 20' X 38'. It is said the Colonel wanted this flag because of the war with Britain to be "So large that the British could not fail to see her". This flag, made by Mary Pickersgill, her daughters and an African American measured 30' X 42'.

I do like songs like this and thats coming from a Veteran that Tears Up when the Flag goes by, Tears Up when the National Anthem is sung and Breaks Down when Taps is played at Funerals and let me know when you attend 4 Family Members Funerals who were Veterans it tears this 64 year old man apart.
