Michael is one of my favorite vocalists ever. This band never sold out, never declined, made beautiful music until they decided they had said their piece and gracefully retired. Preserving their perfect legacy forever. This song has gotten so many people through hard times. This band was a musical blessing.

He's always struck me as a stellar performer and entertainer, but Everybody Hurts brought out something else. Lyrical, musical, wistful - sure - but also fragility and vulnerability. In one breath he's a frightened timid child; in another, he's a survivor. Qualities absolutely required by this song, and qualities delivered to a degree that still gives me chills after all these years. A gift to the people, delivered by a singer who conveys what few others are able to do; he believes what he's singing. That's what makes this so unifying, compelling and priceless.

When I need to cry I listen to this song. My brother who was my best friend ended his life on 2/25/1999. He promised me we’d grow old together. I grieve everyday, but sometimes the tears are stuck, so I turn to this song and I can cry-grieve. Like right now 😰

I have zero recall of the first time I heard this tune. If not for my oldest daughter, I might never have heard of REM ~ big R & B fan. I mentioned this song to her today. Thought of it yesterday, thinking of friend close to death due to pancreatic cancer.

This song saves lives. Fact. I dunno how many songs have saved as many lives as this one. It’s a miracle of a song.

Watching and listening to Michael sing this is almost a religious experience. You can see that he means every single word. What a man.

This is such a touching song to the soul... If you feel alone, reach out to someone, we will be there for you... Make new friends open your heart to people they will listen...❤❤❤❤......

All it takes is those opening notes and I’m in tears. God, I love this song. So beautiful.

I just love this song. Vocals are perfect & the lyrics heartbreakingly beautiful ❤ Watching this again as the words mean so much to me. This is like therapy, encouraging & I just become lost in the music, shutting out the world for awhile. I'll be 78 in a few weeks & live alone.

I was at a religious retreat for self healing, no talking, no books,phones,etc. They allowed music and this was the first song played-struck me to the core. Will never forget the experience. Thank you Micheal.

In high school we drove out to Athens one weekend night to hear a band that a friend's brother played drums in. I remember thinking they were so good they could be on radio. Little did I know what the future would hold. Good times.

Sorry for your losses. I had a cousin who took his life ~ but he came from a family of 13 siblings, and I only saw him a few times when he was a toddler. Met up with his siblings on Facebook, including his daughter.

( I had two tickets at the time, and eagerly I refused to stay in my hospital bed. But, Both One of the palliative nurses and I both fully enjoyed the Balloch Castle Country Park Appreciated Live Gig. .. Stay Cool In 2023 !

One of the best live versions of this masterpiece, with so much meaning to it. One of my all time favourites.

When I and my family was abused and abandoned by agencies of the Roman Catholic Church of which I had been a lifelong member, it became my go-to-song., a great blessing, proving that 'God' is greater than any cruel, corrupt and cold organisation

Believe me when I say that this is not just a song for young people but also older people as well. Us older folks also go through bad times. I am now in my 60s and am going through a very horrid time . This song is one the songs on my list that I listen to whenever my day starts off bad. Yes, they are only songs, but certain songs lift you up. And bring a glimmer of light in the dark. So... Hold on.
