    I was in the exact same situation as the 17 year old in the beginning. My dads extra money being sent was a blessing and I was nice enough to share all my gifts from him with my mom because I thought my mom deserved them for being such an amazing mom (we went through A LOT of shit, most because of my dad). So my dad buying me an expensive accessory or necessity isnt a one up it's a gift. And my mom and I know that if she had enough to buy me something expensive she would do the same. But she doesnt and that's okay. I dont love either of my parents depending on how which car they could buy me.

    It will get to the point where people will require full payment upfront for any service or product, and I don't blame them. The most heartbreaking one I saw was that girl that babysat some kids, with an agreed upon payment of 16 per hour and the evil mom didn't pay her anything, apparently, being at an amusement park watching kids was supposed to be payment enough.

    I’m a child with split parents (they never married) and I think it’s not a douche move, he just wanted to give his son something he WANTED to give him, and literally being jealous because a family member has something pricier than what you have, for all we know, the mother could’ve been the literal opposite of the child, not nice, not doing well in school, etc. Plus it’s his birthday, this is the equivalent of your boss giving your best friend a damn good raise, and then saying “Hol up, he’s my best friend, so I should deserve at least the same as him!” Even though you damn good know he was responsible and real successful in his area of work

  • @iglidor

    What that dad did is perfectly legal move. But common sense when it comes to such expensive and specific gifts says it would be better to tell beforehand his mother to get her opinion at least. I mean from what I understood, he did tell her that he is buying their son a car. It is kinda weird that he did not thought it important to mention that it is car for 50k just as is silly on his mother side to not ask about it either. There may always be a lot of things dad can have no clue about that his mother would have (for example knowledge that expensive cars in their area are getting often stolen or damaged etc.)

    He has every right to do so if he doesn't give a shit about the long term repercussions for his son. It will mess up the kid's relationships with is peers. He'll have to be careful where he parks the goddam expensive thing. He'll never be able to independently pay for insurance and repairs. That dad is thinking only of himself, not of what's best for the kid.

    Honestly, the way I see it the dad absolutely had every right to send money he wanted to on his son's car. Because he and the mom discussed it first. Sure, she didn't realize how much he was going to be but it sounds like that was more her choice to let him take care of everything than him being secretive. You hear about parents showing up one day with a car that was really expensive without even discussing it with the other parents and I think that's bad. But she knew he was getting a car.

  • @maddikitten1306
    @maddikitten13065 жыл бұрын

    The dad thought his son was doing well, even got his license. If the son was given a shitty cheap car or hand-me-down clunker, the mom would likely be paying for or begging her husband to pay for any major fixes if the car broke down. From experience, buying old cars or clunkers is what my dad would do to rework them entirely and make them run better. Even so, they only last for so long... The son should be able to go between houses easily and not worry about breaking down from the mother's possible definition of a beat-up car. HOWEVERRRR, $50,000 is a lot of money for a car.

    I agree. We helped are kids get new cars because they went to college several hours away. You don’t want your son or daughter breaking down on a road at night. But 50k is a lot of money for a first car. The dad may not realize it but he is sticking it to his ex. But he should NOT give her the money. I feel bad for the son caught in the middle.

The father is not a douche but he rushed as well The mother didn't react well but she has some point hidden under her childish reaction

    TGCuber Ex wife shouldn’t have bitched about it. However it’s generally common sense for your first car to be used and cheap, because it’s going to be the first car he drives he’s prone to get in an accident and since he is young the insurance will be high as hell, even higher now that it’s a 380i. But this dude must be a damn millionaire to be doing this because no sane financially responsible father does that😂
