The camera pan to the audience at the end is something that hits you right in your very soul. If you pause it, you'll see faces of bewilderment, fear, loathing, conviction and complete awe. God's word struck them deeply, and it strikes me...

To say that Dr. Sproul was a rock star is to unduly elevate rock stars, and to diminish the life and work of those who faithfully preach the holy, and perfect work of God.

I was there that day. I can't begin to tell you the intensity in the room as he approached the end of the sermon. Truly one of the most memorable moments for me as a listener. This is a fine example of God honoring substance above the intrigue of human delivery.

I had learned this information before watching this, but i don’t think it hit me as hard as when he broke it down. I legitimately cried from the conviction. Knowing my Lord Jesus had to suffer to this unimaginable degree for my sake.

This truth was revealed to me in the past few years. I was also preaching this truth in my churches. But today hearing this teaching in detail, l received a great blessing from Christ. Really Jesus became a curse for me on the tree, otherwise l would never have received the blessings from the Father. I praise God for this great sermon by Dr. Sproul.

The fact that this sermon has been viewed so few times is unfortunate - one of the best I've ever heard from Sproul. So many Christians have no concept of the curse that we so richly deserved, and what it meant for Christ to become the curse for us. This fact has driven me to my knees weeping for joy because of grace and horror because of what my sin has done to Jesus.

I recently had this very thought and realized for the first time, after 30 years of being a Christian, that not only did Christ die for our sins but he shielded us from God's justified and holy wrath. I had never thought of that before. You don't hear that in church. Pastors don't talk about the wrath of God. But it is right there plain as the nose on your face. Read Ezekiel 6 some time. Realize Christ was there and in full agreement with the Father. And what makes it even crazier is God himself became the object of his own wrath. It makes my head swim.

Steve W April 14, 2018 Isn't our LORD GOD absolutely Magnificent, Steven! HE took on our flesh, without the sin, in order to save us from HIS Own Just and Holy Wrath! Literally blows my finite mind, as well! LORD bless you, Steve, and may HE continue to increase your spiritual understanding and knowledge and wisdom of HIM, our Father, and of our LORD GOD and Savior and King, Jesus Christ, HIS ONE and ONLY Son! PRAISE GOD IN CHRIST JESUS' HOLY NAME FOREVER!

But, I went back and read Ezekiel 6 as you suggested and noticed that I past over verses 8-10 the first time I read the prophecy. It's another passage in the old testament where we see our LORD Jesus, which ties in beautifully with Isaiah 53. Thank you so much for your insight!

My oldest son (in college) is writing a play based on a "Screwtape Letters" concept (pray for him). One aspect of it made me think of the "Divine Malediction," which I heard for the first time last year. I listened again this morning as I sent him this link. It chilled me to my core... again! what was ironic to me was, hearing it brought me to near weeping tears of painful joy because I know the curse is not for me, though I deserve it. It IS what Christ experienced on the cross in my place, though He did NOT deserve it.

We need more worship songs that reflect this biblical truth. The curse given by God in response to Adam's rebellion is still at work. We still grow old and die. We are prone to sin, and to suffer from both our own sins and those of others. I'm tired of being around Christians who believe that God is going to make everything smooth and comfortable for them. We are blessed beyond comprehension, but troubles will never leave us alone.

And if your way of thinking prevailed we would not have Amazing Grace, A Mighty Fortress Is Our God, or many other profound worship songs. The Psalms are great, but there is far more to the bible that can, and does, inspire helpful, doctrinally accurate, worship music.

One of the best sermons I've ever heard. RC's delivery is so soulful, you can tell this is something God put on his heart. A desperate yearning to see God's face, and the promise that because of Jesus becoming a curse for us, those who take up their cross and follow him will achieve that blessed rest one day. This man was such a blessing to God's church.

If you love me, keep my commandments 1 John 3:4 Sin is transgression of the Law If you love God, you must keep His commandments, the Law doesn't save us, but show us what is sin. If we keep commandments out of love for Jesus, and tell others about the cross and how He paid the price, that doesn't mean we should continue in sin, we understand the Gospel.

Amen and amen, why the whole Christian world fail to understand this simple truth, that the Law of God, the Ten Commandments is the Holy Character of God, written down on those two tables of stones, that the Almighty God, want to write them on our hearts and minds in His people ! I am not talking about the Ceremonial Law or the 5 Books of the Law called the Torah ! I am talking about the Law of God, which was known in heaven as the “ Law of Love”, which Lucifer broke away from ! And was the very first sinner in Gods created universe! 1John 4:8; Sin is the transgression of the Law ( of God) ! How sad to hear many, many Christians in this fallen world, say we are released from keeping these 10 Commandments? What a very sad deception is this ! How can we say this, when the Lord Jesus Christ, said these words :- “ If you Love me, keep my ( Character) Commandments “. Many of His unrepentant people say ‘no we don’t need to keep them, because we are under Grace’ ! What a real deception from satan, is this ! Grace is the method by how we keep Gods Law, Grace is the method, and God’s Commandments are the test standard! Sin is identified as breaking Gods character, which is Holy, which us this Law of Love ! These 10 Commandments! See Revelation 14:12; ‘ here those who keep the Commandments of God, and have the Faith of Jesus’. ! It is real blaspheme to say and preach and teach that we do not need to keep His Commandments which is the Character of God himself ! Amen and Amen

The Father never forsook the Son. People say, Well, they were fragmented. Are you kidding? Deity being fragmented? The Godhead would have ceased to exist. Father, Son, and Spirit have always been in that perichoresis, in that circle of love. It’s never wavered for one moment, even at the cross, which is encouraging to us, because like Jesus, when we cry out, why have you forsaken me, we can know God says, “I haven’t. I’m with you.” He’ll never forsake us. Steve McVey

What takes more faith? To not keep the 4th commandment or the 7th day Sabbath bc of grace or to actually keep the sabbath holy bc obedience by faith!

Restricting oneself from doing whatever we want on the 7th day bc obedience is not as easy as those who by disobedience claim that they need not to follow a God’s command bc grace is the license Jesus gave to disobey!!!

Excellent antidote to the heresy of the crossless Christ (Fulton Sheen may have named it) - Jesus as social reformer, not redeemer because without sin there’s nothing to redeem

Deuteronomy 21:22-23 the malefactor on the cross is well aware of the curse upon him and this is what he refers to in Luke 23:40, knowing he has no hope because of this curse turns to Jesus and pleads Luke 23:42. Jesus saves him in Luke 23:43 demonstrating the Glory that is His. The Jew is given 613 laws plus the ten commandments by G-D to teach them to trust Him even if they fail to keep them. Instead they invented Judaism in an attempt to keep them. Jesus comes and elevates those laws to show them how impossible it is to keep even the most basic laws and we invent all of today's religions to try and keep them. When all He wants is for us to trust Him. He goes to the cross willingly to submit to the Father for examination if you will so that all power and authority can be handed over to Him from the Father as His inheritance. See Mark 12:1-11. If not even the Son of G-D is exempt from being judged, who are we to escape judgement? The only way to escape judgement is to humbly ask Him who has been made judge over all flesh. When Jesus cries out why have You forsaken me, it is not an accusation but a statement as you would make if you were accused of something you have not done. Why are you punishing me I have kept all your laws? For six hours The Father examined the Son on the cross looking for any sin, any spot, any blemish and finding none proclaims for the first time since Adam Worthy is the Son whom He Loves to judge all flesh. Jesus broke The Father's only word that the the Father could not punish Him for because Jesus was framed "cursed of G-D is he who hangs on a tree". Jesus is glorified in a promise made to a cursed man. To demonstrate that He had saved that man and to show us that he can keep that promise He was raised from the dead on the third day proving He is mighty to save anyone. The Gospel hidden in plain sight on the cross. If you've read this you have just been shown the narrow gate which is hard to find. You don't accept the King of Kings He accepts you. The promise reiterated in Romans 10:13. Yours is not the choice to be saved. It is and has always been His to save you.

All his commandments and the minimum is 10! It includes to REMEMBER to keep the 7th day holy. Also, to keep God’s Feasts not man made holidays such as Christmas, Easter…..even the name Easter points us to its pagan origin. Please read Leviticus 23 & follow. Same God in the beginning of the book and the end of the book

Jesus has abandoned me, and I cannot beg Him back. Strange thing, I feel His light, but He will not answer my prayers. My faith is shattering. Jesus once loved me like you would not understand. Problem is, I kept denying Him, repenting, and renounced Him one final time, and He left. I always thought ones who committed the unpardonable sin had hearts so hardened they did not care about God at all. I do care. It's back to before me "conversion" days, too caught up in my sin. Is there really no hope for me? Jesus, God, has abandoned me, turned His back on me, and His Spirit is gone.

@President Christopher Dear Friend, Jesus cannot abandon. He either never was with you or will never leave you as He promised. I sincerely urge you to examine your life in the light of the Bible and talk to believers to teach you about the gospel. We are born again only by grace and we are sustained only by grace. Perhaps God not answering your prayer is actually the answer you were not anticipating. Perhaps God is taking you through a phase of learning utter dependence on Him and His will. Perhaps you are saved and just need a waking up in your walk with Christ or perhaps you haven't been saved so far. Please do not treat this lightly. Please go to an Elder in a local Church if you're not already part of a local Church and have God speak to you through them. But more than anything, pray and ask God to show you grace and mercy in revealing scriptures to you. Will be waiting to hear from you.

I think God was pleased to bruise His Son because it would be the end of the continual bloody sacrifices for sin. Jesus, The Spotless Lamb of God cried IT IS FINISHED and at last sin could be truly taken away from those who would believe. At last The Father could call gentiles to come to Him through Jesus Christ. At last Sin Death and the Grave all were conquered and Christ Jesus arose with the keys of death and hades. Jesus became sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. At last we have eternal life through JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD.

Typical Calvinist twisting and disorting the truth The Bible never presents God like this. The cross is about Christ removing the curse. God never cursed Him He took the curse, because He took our sin, the curse was upon our sin. We have actually been set free. Spouls view of God is not mine. When I had an encounter with Jesus I fell in love with Him Unfortunately Calvinists viewed God differently than that and that view drove me away from Him. However He wouldn't let me go. It has taken me years to seperate that Doctrine from what the Bible actually says.
