HI Mary🤩 A few weeks back, I ran across you colab with Rick Beato on "Operator" (Which, incidentally, destroyed my macho image and left me sobbing like a baby in front of my computer). This led me to your "Last Train Home" video. Never in my life has a tune been so stuck in my head. Absolutely loved it! I enjoyed the Q&A. Besides being a fantastic musician, your honesty and sincerity with everything you do is very refreshing. Cheers!

You remind me of someone...Mary
Mary, you are a true inspiration. Rick Beato mentioned you and a few other friends on his channel yesterday and I just had to pop in - it's been too long. 😊
Mary, Your information is accurate, well delivered, and I find your channel very entertaining. Ive been playing guitar for 48 years and teaching for 26. I am here merely to help set your mind at ease, and encourage you to continue on you path. Btw... don't read too many fan comments! They can corrupt your spirit unnecessarily! Way too much of that on this planet!...Thank you for the courage and tenacity it took to establish you channel, brand, and YT audience! Bravo! I also love the fine appreciation by Rick Beato! You Rock!
There have been times when I've practised more or practised less, but I've never considered quitting guitar. There are other instruments that are more classical or jazz oriented that I have drifted out of, but guitar lets me play the music I love the most, so I would never give it up. Thanks Mary, I really enjoyed this video.
I also wanted to just say thank you Mary, you are such a little ball of sunshine who brightens my day every day, whether that is motivating myself with your own motivation posts, one of your guitar or producing videos, I learn a lot as a complete guitar newbie4. And that british classiness just is the cherry on top for me.
Writing song’s & scripts is creative writing Mary, props to you on everything you create as a creative person.
Hi Mary Spender, I like listening to you answering questions from us.
What a lovely candid video Mary. Enjoy your language journey; it's as deep as music and your guitar - never ending and always a pleasure to learn.
Well played ! And yeah, would love to see more sights from your travels.
I am so glad I stumbled upon your channel, Mary. You are a “ real”, down to earth person. I look forward to follow and listen to more of your music and off-topic conversations ✌️👏👍
Loved the friendly and fun responses. Rick Beato on his recent video nailed it when he spoke about you.

Hi mary, just discovered you through chappers and andertons vids, you're a great musician and wear your heart on your sleeve, looking forward to watching more vids and ultimately your journey if you share that with us, keep on trucking mary.
You are sharing interesting information for the benefit of others and you do so with an open heart and mind .
I lost track of this channel until Sir Beato reminded me. Thanks Rick! And keep rocking Mary!!! Guitar is one instrument that should never be quitted. (quat?)
this was fun Mary! you should do these like once a month
That was fun, Mary. Hope you're enjoying yourself in Spain. Looks beautiful.
Glad to see you are in Spain , greetings from Madrid!
Any time I see you and Adam Neely are together in a video, I can feel an amazing friendship between you both!
When I had a project studio in South Florida we were recording a song and used a quartet with people who played in local orchestras and did session work. In this case they quadrupled each instrument to give that BIG sound. So, we were waiting for the violist to arrive, but the two violinists and the cellist was there. One of the violinist talked about how he had switched to viola in the orchestra for a bit, thinking it would be nice to play the supporting role, but quickly discovered that the parts were not fun to play, too contained, and switched back.
I have to imagine a video like this is lots of fun to do, confirming or debunking what folks might think. My next music project will be more vocal parts, and less loud electric guitar. Much more like you have done, even though I am not blessed with the writing gene. (I am just a tavern band guitar player) I find it way too easy to hide behind quads of 6L6's. Singing accompanied by Acoustic instruments is so much more from the heart. Bravo Mary, you are a true inspiration. :)
Thank you Mary for sharing the journey you are on. Big into spotify at the moment and enjoying your material which is a change from metal.

Your “Sultans of Swing” cover with Josh Turner was EL PERFECTO!! Thank you! I also appreciate your respect for the English language and attempt to use proper grammar. I share it. Language is at best a limited and somewhat poor vessel for conveying our thoughts and feelings. Taking the trouble to develop a good vocabulary and decent command of the language is critical to our ability to think, understand the world around us, and communicate our insights. It deserves respect. As an American, I’m a bit unsure of the meaning of a “posh” way of speaking. However, I am aware of the many radically different accents in Britain; some quite difficult to understand. Yours is very nice. I’m from an old Tidewater Virginia family that predates our war for Independence. We have an accent here that still retains many flavors of old English so the way the Royals speak feels familiar to my ear. Linguistically I have no idea what that means except that perhaps being extremely traditional and somewhat cloistered from the general public they may have preserved a way of speaking from the times when England colonized America. English aside, I enjoy your music. Thank you. Good music is mana for the soul and making it is a worthy life’s endeavor. Well done!!

That was quite interesting. Clearly some of the assumptions came from people who either haven't followed you for long or are the sort of people that have their own work to do still so their unexamined assumptions get projected onto you. In either case they were talking about someone that isn't you _clearly._ A couple got you quite well. They made me smile. Made you smile too:) You are an open book in this way. You don't in any way hide who you are, but some things you don't rub in the worlds face. If they're perceptive they can see for themselves who you are because you don't try to be a mystery. You do you boo and we'll all still love you:)

You just love music, and sharing it with us.
I first came to your channel for the guitar related content. I soon found you to have an interesting and enjoyable personality. Now, I also enjoy your videos like this which deviate to a more personal level. The more I know about what drives a particular person, the better I understand them and, the better I relate to the more tutorial oriented videos for which I originally came. Did that make sense? Lol.
I've been wanting to see Salamanca for a long time, what's it like? I lived in Southern Spain for a long time but never went up north.
I haven't paid much attention to a lot of spoken vids (yours made it through somehow this morning), you brought me some amount of joy on your response to a recorder not being a real musical instrument. Whatever makes noise is a musical instrument by basic definition... people and their choice of what to be a snob about runs the gamut between idiocy and horrific. Ok, that comment and the one about tea caught my attention (the one about rich background worked it's way in there. Everyone is rich, what we do with those riches and the imaginary place in society's clique is what creates the definition of our lives.)... funny what breaks through my morning guitar practice.
4:07 "When they focus" and here the camera focuses back - Brilliant!
enjoyed that, thanks!
The assumptions people make about people they have never met and know in real life. Crazy stuff some of it. My Assumption/Opinion - You have a wonderful speaking and singing voice that is very pleasant to my ears. You are a excellent musician. Love the minimalist rig idea. I use a minimalist rig too.
Letting go of that ‘fierce’ side and listening more is the definition of maturity!

Fun! Thank you for sharing.
You're, I mean you are, so thoughtful to respond to all these assumptions and set the record straight. All in all interpretations seemed mostly innocuous. People hear what they want to hear and see what they want to see. So many filters! I didn't know about plain tea though. My business partner is in the UK. We'll be having a talk about that.
Can't disrespect the recorder when they appear in one of the best songs ever made. Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven features John Paul Jones playing 3 of them.
Love it, keep it coming Mary
You really are a talented person, musician, singer, has a beautiful voice singing, but you have no idea how I love to listen your voice when you're speaking, the calm, how it sounds is enjoyable to me and I love, really love the British accent.
Auto-correct is a harsh mistress, it will sting you without warning. With regard to the video though, Mary inspires many of us by just being who she is and she is talented and motivated. Nothing but respect for her.

Dear Ms. Spender, I have two issues if I may please. First, you mentioned wine and hangovers are a cause and effect problem you are having. My wife and I have a wine restaurant in Busan, South Korea and have found SULFATES are the reason. If possible, try an All Natural wine or a wine marked NO Sulfates or Sulfides. This may help with the hangover result. Second, have you put any thought into a Christmas Single? Christmas is one of my favorite seasons and I am slowly working on recording Christmas songs for family and friends. It's right around the corner. If you ever make it to Busan, contact me and I'll be happy to show you the city and our restaurant. Sincerely, Fred
