HI Mary🤩 A few weeks back, I ran across you colab with Rick Beato on "Operator" (Which, incidentally, destroyed my macho image and left me sobbing like a baby in front of my computer). This led me to your "Last Train Home" video. Never in my life has a tune been so stuck in my head. Absolutely loved it! I enjoyed the Q&A. Besides being a fantastic musician, your honesty and sincerity with everything you do is very refreshing. Cheers!

I am here merely to help set your mind at ease, and encourage you to continue on you path. Btw... don't read too many fan comments! They can corrupt your spirit unnecessarily! Way too much of that on this planet!...Thank you for the courage and tenacity it took to establish you channel, brand, and YT audience! Bravo! I also love the fine appreciation by Rick Beato! There have been times when I've practised more or practised less, but I've never considered quitting guitar. There are other instruments that are more classical or jazz oriented that I have drifted out of, but guitar lets me play the music I love the most, so I would never give it up. Thanks Mary, I really enjoyed this video.

When I had a project studio in South Florida we were recording a song and used a quartet with people who played in local orchestras and did session work. In this case they quadrupled each instrument to give that BIG sound. So, we were waiting for the violist to arrive, but the two violinists and the cellist was there. One of the violinist talked about how he had switched to viola in the orchestra for a bit, thinking it would be nice to play the supporting role, but quickly discovered that the parts were not fun to play, too contained, and switched back.

I have to imagine a video like this is lots of fun to do, confirming or debunking what folks might think. My next music project will be more vocal parts, and less loud electric guitar. Much more like you have done, even though I am not blessed with the writing gene. (I am just a tavern band guitar player) I find it way too easy to hide behind quads of 6L6's. Singing accompanied by Acoustic instruments is so much more from the heart. Bravo Mary, you are a true inspiration. :)

Your “Sultans of Swing” cover with Josh Turner was EL PERFECTO!! Thank you! I also appreciate your respect for the English language and attempt to use proper grammar. I share it. Language is at best a limited and somewhat poor vessel for conveying our thoughts and feelings. Taking the trouble to develop a good vocabulary and decent command of the language is critical to our ability to think, understand the world around us, and communicate our insights. It deserves respect. As an American, I’m a bit unsure of the meaning of a “posh” way of speaking. However, I am aware of the many radically different accents in Britain; some quite difficult to understand. Yours is very nice. I’m from an old Tidewater Virginia family that predates our war for Independence. We have an accent here that still retains many flavors of old English so the way the Royals speak feels familiar to my ear. Linguistically I have no idea what that means except that perhaps being extremely traditional and somewhat cloistered from the general public they may have preserved a way of speaking from the times when England colonized America. English aside, I enjoy your music. Thank you. Good music is mana for the soul and making it is a worthy life’s endeavor. Well done!!

Clearly some of the assumptions came from people who either haven't followed you for long or are the sort of people that have their own work to do still so their unexamined assumptions get projected onto you. In either case they were talking about someone that isn't you _clearly._ A couple got you quite well. They made me smile. Made you smile too:) You are an open book in this way. You don't in any way hide who you are, but some things you don't rub in the worlds face. If they're perceptive they can see for themselves who you are because you don't try to be a mystery. I haven't paid much attention to a lot of spoken vids (yours made it through somehow this morning), you brought me some amount of joy on your response to a recorder not being a real musical instrument. Whatever makes noise is a musical instrument by basic definition... people and their choice of what to be a snob about runs the gamut between idiocy and horrific. Ok, that comment and the one about tea caught my attention (the one about rich background worked it's way in there. Everyone is rich, what we do with those riches and the imaginary place in society's clique is what creates the definition of our lives.)... funny what breaks through my morning guitar practice.

I’ve been playing guitar since the late seventies and even in bands and for me it goes up and down with playing depending on what condition my fingers are because I have problems with arthritis, the guitar playing has helped me when I’m depressed or have some problems to solve and guitar playing gets me in good mood and calm when I’m upset, I play guitar, bass, keyboards, piano, harmonica , accordion just keep on playing it’s good for your health 😊✌️

Fucking recorders get too fucking wet when you play them. A tin whistle is far superior and more versatile.

@@paulmurray280 The truth is, in the hands of a master the recorder is as beautiful a woodwind instrument as any. The bad rap it gets is solely down to the fact that little children are given cheap plastic versions as if they were toys, with which they proceed to torture everyone within earshot.

It’s been fun watching your videos. I found your channel this past January. I’ve enjoyed listening to your songs you have shared on your channel. I am curious if you ever used a prompt to write songs? Do you have a basic process or are more of “I need to be inspired to write?” I personally have not written any songs, but I been listening to a song writing podcast called “prompt queens” which has been inspiring and entertaining (Hope Dunbar and Emily Dunbar, they are sister in law) If you have some spare time I would enjoy hearing your thoughts about your process of writing? Thanks, Tim

Dear Ms. Spender, I have two issues if I may please. First, you mentioned wine and hangovers are a cause and effect problem you are having. My wife and I have a wine restaurant in Busan, South Korea and have found SULFATES are the reason. If possible, try an All Natural wine or a wine marked NO Sulfates or Sulfides. This may help with the hangover result. Second, have you put any thought into a Christmas Single? Christmas is one of my favorite seasons and I am slowly working on recording Christmas songs for family and friends. It's right around the corner. If you ever make it to Busan, contact me and I'll be happy to show you the city and our restaurant. Sincerely, Fred

Wow, what a world we live in. Here I am in the United States (Maryland) watching an English girl in Spain. KZread has suggested your videos more than once and I usually give them some time. At first I was drawn to the beautiful face but stayed for the music. These days I watch because you're an absolute delight. I'm sure there are hundreds of thousands around the world who share that sentiment. You are a very nice diversion from all of the yuck in the world. Plus, it's so nice to see that your beauty is not just skin deep. That's what really keeps me coming back.
