I remember watching Quinta on Buzzfeed when I was growing up. She doesn't even know I exist, but I'm so proud of how far she's come! She's just a genius, I'm so glad she's getting the recognition she's always deserved!

Quinta is not only hilarious and an amazing writer, she has somehow created a show that is on par with Parks and Recreation but even more wholesome and just as witty. Ava might be the best sitcom boss since Michael Scott

I realized this would quickly outpace parks and rec in the first season, mostly because i saw an interview where Quinta said they were creating a show that is intended to be on the air for many years, unlike parks where they only started world-building once they realized they weren’t getting canceled.

There is serious problem with American entertainment with such a focus on crime shows and they are so specific and graphic. I find it so odd. I think courtroom dramas started out long ago in earnest to educate people of their rights and the process of law with entertainment, but then it's taken a dark turn. No they just make entertainment out of people's personal misery.

Abbott Elementary is a cry for help in the only way that Philly knows how to do it. Please our schools are failing our kids, our Licenses and Inspections Dept is failing our families, our Police Dept is failing to protect us, our Revenue Dept is failing to collect what's due us, and our city is failing us all. Our sports teams and our culture makers are what we care about because they are how we can communicate how truly broken our city is. There is no expectation of safety and there are no safety nets. Abbott and Always are documentaries, tragedies not comedies. We laugh because if we don't, we'd never stop crying.

That's so disappointing. Philly is such a huge part of America's history, I'm sad it's not getting it's flowers. My son is about to move there & I worry - it sounds like a hard city for young people to get their start in.

Sounds like what NYC went through in the 1970s and 80s when neighborhoods were literally burning. So hang in there, because things do get better, the pendulum does swing. I think creative experimentation works? For instance, tenants managing their own buildings that had been abandoned by the landlords. Seemed like a wild idea, no one had a better one, situation desperate, so yeah let's try this. That kind of almost desperate creativity. There are people within every department who have creative ideas, but they are not speaking up because they don't want their boss to call them crazy. Find a safe space for sharing those fresh ideas in parks, housing, everything. Education is probably the hardest because it's so complex, but.... I'm not trying to say that NYC is perfect now (we desperately need a new mayor right now) but it's not the 1970s. Things will get better if everyone just keeps on shouting how much they love Philly and keeps on trying new things. Continuing the old things, that's not working, so why not? Hang in there! Loving a whole city is hard, but so worth it. 🌆
