Damn, Quincy Wilson is the one to watch in four years time with the right development. Still a minor and running 44.59s like a pro. Great to see Michael Norman back on the track.

I’m still doubtful moving to the 400m is the best thing for him because he was already putting up times within .3 of being on the WC team in the 200 m. Yeah he got a couple gold medals for the relays and should get another one this year, but when you talk about how far off he is from being in the top 10 or 15 in the world, it’s more than a second back and I don’t know how you make up that kind of time at this stage in your career. Then again he could probably make a decent living just traveling Europe and competing Sub 45 second 400 m. But people forget his senior year he placed 8th in the WC qualifiers after running Kenny Bednarek to almost a tie in the semi-finals. He could have literally gone to Europe and made money the rest of the summer and all this year putting up times of 19.9 to 20.2 and placing top three in every meet. It’s just doubtful he’s ever going to beat Noah Lyles or the 2 or 3 top international runners. So good enough to compete and get paid to travel Europe, but never a world champion. I’d take that over finishing a full second behind in the 400m and hoping to make the relay team. Heck, at his speed of 9.98 to 10.15 he probably could place top three or top five in virtually every hundred meter race he would compete in on the European circuit. Josephus Lyle’s has made a career out of being a top eight runner so it’s not hard to do at that level.

Michael Norman is a very good 400m sprinter. Michael Johnson was one of the best 400m sprinters of all time, having ran 22 races under 44 seconds! There is no comparison.

Okay, so I'm fuzzy on the lane assignments at the trials. Is it time based, is it place based (1st/2nd get priority, fastest bubble runners get the leftovers), or is it a blind draw? Don't know if Boling has a time faster than 44.90 in him, but being the least experienced (probably less than the high schooler), I think him being out in lanes 8 or 9 is a killer for him because his first instinct is to run too fast. He's not in the class of the leaders, but he might be able to get in the top 6. Quincy is just otherworldly. I can't even imagine how you go out there as a 16 year-old and run with Norwood. I'd be shocked if he didn't finish in the top 5. Just crazy.....

Michael Norman is absolutely one of the best 400 guys ever. I’ve been watching him since high school and he crushed it at usc I believe has the fastest indoor split ever and we all know can go 43 mid in peak form. It’s gonna be some final and I think Wilson got one more race in him and if he can knock off a little more time he may just get a chance on the relay

Poor pacing by Boling - Though he hasn’t had a great deal of experience in the 400m he should’ve been aware of the consequences of running the first 100m too fast ( indicated by making up one’s entire stagger around the first bend ) - In high quality fields the race is never won in the first 100m but almost invariably in the final 100m

I’d really like to see the 16yr old Quincy Wilson and Matt Bolling make it on the team, because i think those two runners will peak just in time for Paris!!! Don’t know much about Quincy other than his a 16yr old high schooler and i really like him, I think he’s a good kid!!! I remember Mathew Boling running in Worlds on the US mixed 4X100 relay team where US won and setting the world record doing it!!! So I’m really hoping to see those two make it to Paris!!! Even though no one cares, I have always disliked watching E. Godwin run. He looks like he's full lactic by 30 meters in. It's annoyed me he's made it this far bc, despite his times, to the naked eye, he looks like he doesn't know what he's doing out there. He could "over-run" the 8 meter dash.
