How you would know when buying a design how it stitches out?

That is an excellent question! You could try reaching out to the company that you are purchasing it from.
This is excellent information IF you have designer. What if you don’t?

You could use New Start/End and crop between start & end points to cut the design into manageably- sized sections.

If you don't have Designer, just be more particular on the design that you choose to use so that it stitches the top and then the bottom.
