Continuing the testing of my Canon EOS R5 and trying my best to get back out taking photos, Elly and I went to the City of London for some quiet urban photography.
I decided I wanted to take a simplified approach and chose my Fujifilm X100F as my go-to choice for photography. It's a familiar camera and has been with me on many trips over the last 3 years, so it felt great to be back out with the Fuji!
I'm super happy with the images and way this vlog turned out, both with the photography and filmmaking. I'm also so glad to have your support as I publish these light-hearted vlogs in such weird and confusing times right now. We're continuing to be cautious on our interactions outside and actively choosing to visit quiet locations with minimal social contact. Where scenes may appear to be busy with people in the distance, please be assured we have masks and wear them behind the camera.
If it's safe to do so in your location, I hope this vlog inspires you to get out with your camera and get creative!

So much soul to this camera 🙌
You guys look absolutely stunning! Also the video is as wonderful to watch as always - very pleasing on the eyes. For some reason I missed your Fujifilm X100F content probably because it always feels relaxed and you take especially many great photos and show us the beautiful locations you're at. Hope you guys are well.

Thank you, that's very kind! I'm really pleased with how this R5 is working out for video!
I think your X100F videos single-handedly convinced me to buy this camera!
I love these vlogs. It's especially nice to see different parts of London. Especially for street photography.
Great to see the two of you exploring again. And I really did miss your x100f content! Happy to see it back =)
My old stomping grounds working in the city area, lovely memories of an area full of life with all the hustle and bustle of during weekdays and the eerie quietness at weekends and so photogenic too. Thanks, nice video, you have a very relaxed demeanour.
What a great mood and pace for a video. I love it!
Such a pleasant vlog. Loved it. Footage on the Canon looks great. The updated color grading made a huge difference. The background blur is just so pleasing on the Canon. Cheers!
Incredible as always Joe! Nice to have you back, and have the Fuji back! It's amazing getting inspired by your photos, they're on another level! I wish I could take images like that!
Thanks for this video! Beautiful footage & photos. I would love to try out the X100 series at some point. I can highly recommend the X-Pro 3 - one of my favorite cameras of all time. Cheers!
This grade is absolutely lovely!
I have missed theses kinds of vlogs! I first found you from your X100F videos so it as great to see you out with it again. Excellent video as always!
I love your videos, they are always chill and interesting at the same time. Whenever you upload, I'm watching right away haha. I'm really glad you're back 😌 Stay safe and keep up the great videos ❤️
Absolutely enjoyed every bit of your X100F content and so glad to see that you’re still using it! I mean many would’ve upgraded to X100V. Your X100F videos are what inspired me to get an X100F and start photography in the first place.
Hey Joe and Elly😃👋! Thanks for this easy going vid from London that made me smile and wanting to go out and shoot😎✌️!!!
I like the light hearted nature of this video, and the color grading was really exceptional. The people following you all at the end looked like a clip from Invasion Of The Body Snatchers.
Your videos inspired me to get an x100v and I’m loving it! Love your videos! Stay safe you guys!
I always get excited when I see your story on Instagram about a new video upload. How I miss London! And you have the coolest caps and jackets. Keep creating.

Thanks! I'm absolutely a jacket person. They're my weakness when it comes to clothes shopping 🙄 The one in this video was actually from the Burberry sample sale when I worked there a few years back - it's easily one of my favourites!
Elly and you look so refreshed and good. I love the animated titles and the good old Fuji X100F which I'm about to buy next week. Prices dropped so crazy.
Old like me Joe, so nice to see you and Elly walking around a fairly subjuded city, and yes its one of my places to walk around, hope to be going on the 19th, but still pending, loving those big shadows, great video as always you guys.
Loving this new Vlog! The camera work is impressive. Loving the images coming out of this new Canon camera! 👌🏻
Such a vibe this video guys. Love it and miss London.
Great to see you two lovely people back out and about. Fun video and some excellent photos.
Your video reminded me when I was living in london 5 years ago, just starting my photography journey. Some of the few good photos that I took were taken one evening in the same area with the exact same pink-blue grandient sky. Your video took me to that evening and it's bringing me a lot of memories. Time flies..
really needed this... Thanks Joe! more x100 content please!
Joe, love the low-key photo vlogs. So nice! I have a question. When's the wedding and will you livestream it?
Sweet vlog - just like you wanted - but yes that was spooky w/ the people at the end following you, omg. So many nicely composed and processed images.
One of my favourite blogs Joe! Loved the look of the R5 footage, and of course you can’t go wrong with the Fujifilm X100. Also BAOTASTIC!
Some of my favourite photos from London are ones I took in and around the Bank Station area on Remembrance Day 2018 on the 100 year anniversary of the armistice. I got there in the morning and the area was completely closed off to cars. The combination of the light that day and how quiet it was led to some amazing photos. That same day, on a suggestion from one of your older videos, I went up the Monument to shot the city skyline during golden hour. Watching this latest video just brought me back to that memorable day wandering around London for the first time and feeling so inspired by everything I saw through my X-E3's viewfinder.
As always another great video. 👍Love seeing the streets of London through your lens. I recently got the Fujifilm x100f, my first digital camera, and wondered if you could give newbie photographers tips and advice on choosing which settings to use for different types of pics. I know it requires taking a lot of photos to get to know your camera and knowing which settings work the best but it would be interesting and helpful to see your process in how you select your settings. Looking forward to more street photography videos!
Really missed your videos, keep it up 👍🏼
Just found your channel. Your videos are fantastic! Looking through old ones atm. Your Japan videos are just pristine ☺️
the wuality of this video is insane!
Colors and look in general looks amazing! Nice grade.
Loving the video and the colors :D definitely makes me wanna shoot more
Fantastic video. I loved my x100f, moved on to a Leica Q last year, but kept the Fuji. Definitely taking it out again later. The X100F is a fantastic camera.
For whatever reason, I find myself coming back to this video every few months when I need a little pick me up.
So easy to watch this vlog! Happy to see the X100f again and more shots from it. Further inspiration to make the move and buy one. More importantly though, outstanding beer choice! Great to see in the UK!
Hey Allam! I think your video "documentaries" are spectacular! Always so much attention to detail and the BGM is really spot on. I also like the locations, actually thinking of moving to London myself, but hasitating a bit 'cause of Brexit n' all that... Please stay awesome and continue delivering nice content! Cheers mate!
great to see you and Elly back out shooting! hoping you grab that X100V or X-Pro 3 soon :)
Such a beautiful, chill, no-brag video.
Nice to see you guys back guys,. I think you’d dig the V Joe, the updated lens and of course Classic Negative.
The video from the Canon looks so good in this vlog. I noticed something was a little different straight away, it is a nice improvement in quality :) Love your work!
Camera gear talk and photography vlog without "drama"...lovely...thank you!
Thanks again for your video, the two of you are great and very pleasant to listen too 😊 love yhe pictures...
Cleaaannnnnnnn great content as per usual
So glad I found your channel again after a few months. With school going on during a pandemic and being near a wildfire, it can get overwhelming sometimes. But it's nice to get a change of scenery once in a while, even if it's through a screen.

Glad to hear I'm providing some casual entertainment away from studying. Distractions can be good sometimes!
It's soooo nice to see you two again! and the x100f, lol
Hopefully Fuji are watching and lend you an X-Pro 3, maybe with the 35mm F/1.4! Always a pleasure watching your videos, especially when they include Elly and the X100F. Such a weird time but I'm glad you guys are keeping safe while out and about.

I so wished they updated the 35mm f1.4 to a more modern XF build. Possibly with WR.

@@hfiguiere Viltrox's 33mm f/1.4 caught my interest, especially since it has a an STM motor. It's not WR either but maybe it'll nudge Fuji into updating.
Enjoyable, thanks.
Crazy how quiet it is there - potentially a once in a life time situation. Also I've had a chance to properly use the R5 with 1.1 and it was great - no problems (so far)!
loved the video
Fujifilm ❤️ looks amazing 👌 nice vlog!
Hi! So great this new video! Thanks! It’s always so lovely to see some London shots again. I Love that city. Don’t know why, I just love it! How I wish I could stay a year or two in the future!! Anyways, great choice that X-e3!😉 Waiting for an update from the Fuji brand...😜 Take care and have fun!! 💪🏼
More of those London vlogs please 🔥
Fun video! I have the X100V having previously owned the F. If you choose to upgrade, you won't regret it. I especially love the fold out rear screen - impeccably designed.
Still love my X100F...... great video Joe.
im digging the canon. video looks so soft and generally good
I really enjoyed your video. It is really refreshing. I also like the looks of Elly’s camera. Have you ever tried it?
Hi Joe, great vlog as always. Where did you get this square lens hood?
This video looks so C R I S P
I bought X100F because of your video, and I LOVE IT
Nice photos Joe Allam ;) . Loving how the EOS R5 looking on your videos. What would be your go to lens to shoot videos with the R5 ?
Your x100f still looks like new. I think that's an achievement considering how much you've used it now :) thanks for the video, missed content like this.
This video really made me miss London. It's been 27 years since I visited. :( I have the X100S and I love it. It made me love photography again. I would love to take it around London.
Just stumbled across this video after pulling the trigger on an X100F for an upcoming trip. I've always really admired the Fuji colour reproduction and tonality so excited to give it a go for myself coming from a Nikon full frame DSLR. Really great video, you are well spoken and interesting to watch. I especially appreciated your before & after shot comparisons with the LUTs. I'd be interested in knowing your thoughts on setting up the camera, basic settings and any tips or advice. Subscribed. Thanks
Just love wandering around cities and towns, try Bath and Bristol, especially Bath for stonework
Gotta scratch my travel itch with your videos 🙃
Mr Jello ! So funny Elly! Great video of you guys!
I thoroughly enjoyed it 😊😎🥂🍾
You should come up north. Bradford's Little Germany has some amazing stone buildings and so does Leeds and some other old mill towns.
Great leading lines in the opening talking head shot.
so nice
Loved this video Joe, thanks! "Dead Eye Joe", LOL, sounds like a camera cowboy!
Yay for Elly, still sporting the X-E3
Great video
Thanks Joe same here, really struggling to work the camera again. As a side note you will love the Xpro3, had mine for a while now and so happy with it. Actually not quite as quiet here in Brisbane as its almost business as usual. I missed the shut down window.
Nice work!! I got my new x100v recently and I am not disappointed. 😊
Would also be great to see more pictures from Elly's xe3 with the 35mm lense. I'd really appreciate a comparison of the 23mm/35mm.
Nice to see you didn’t forget about old faithful. 📸👍🏾
I miss London ❤️
Wow the R5 video looks beautiful, best I have seen from any mirrorless...
A lovely video. I quite like that lens hood you're using on the X. Are they still available I wonder.
06:22 Very recently bought your preset master bundle - very happy about that purchase!
Love your video, down to earth with a lovely calm demeanor. Can you please tell me where you got your camera strap from?
Man whenever I watch your videos I want to take the camera and go out to the streets to take pictures. Thanks for sharing your adventures!

Glad to hear it - that is exactly why I share them!
That R5 video looks so good, Joe what lens did you vlog with? Thanks
You inspired me to buy this camera and I love every bit of it! I made a video about it on my channel and it’s my biggest video yet! Thanks Joe!
fan of this channel! greetings from australia.

Cheers! Would love to return to Australia someday!
About that 35mm: getting the tele conversion lens for x100f was a revelation. Unlike SLRs, that can be changed so fast and easy. I have been walking around a lot with the conversion lens on, and when I see something that could use a wider angle of view, I just quickly screw the conversion lens off, take the shot while often keeping it on my hand, and screw it back on. Something that would be a hassle with an SLR.
"Why are they following us?" Lol Did you ever find out? That is phenomenal. Loved this video! I appreciate your honesty in struggling to get back to photography... though your struggles are what I aspire to. Lol Well done! Ellie's photo was lovely!
this vlog was absolutely beautiful; the colour correction is perfect imo. & those people staring at you was funny & creepy, lmao.
Hi Joe. Love this video. Since I had my XPRO2 my X100T has not had many outing. Will need to dust it down me things. Where did you get the silver square lens hood?
Oh every time that music clip started it made me jump, spilt my coffee, you owe me one lol lol.
I love this video! Can I ask where I can get the square lens hood?
Great video thank you. Would you share your restaurant list? And maybe photographic areas of london walk maps? Many thanks!!!
Great video! I’m inspired to dust off my X100S and go for a walk. I am more inspired to place an order for an X100V but my wallet does not currently share that inspiration. I am also eternally jealous of people living in walkable, urban cities. Everyone in my city, Dallas, is in a car, and places you can just move through, on foot, full of life, are few and far between.
@joeallam
3 жыл бұрын
Haha, yeah my wallet continues to say "no" to many things as well. I feel for you in a more spread out city. I have definitely struggled in some cities in the US precisely because of that. Even just seeing a shot across the road can be tricky when trying to navigate how to actually get across the road on foot!

Joe Allam I have big “photo walk” plans for my Sunday. In my situation, that means drive to a place, walk around the immediate area, drive to another place and repeat. All of these spots are separated by 8-lane freeways and “street life” is limited. Which is frustrating because Texas city’s have a lot to offer if you have the time to look for them. Oh well. I’m just going to assume all of these limitations make me more creative or something like that.
Video looks fine. Question: Which lens hood are you using on the X100F?
Welcome back ..... looking forward to more ....
What a great video! Just curious about the brand of the lens hood, where can I get it? Thanks.
