Quickly repair a cracked RC car body - DIY with shoe Goo and fiber tape

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Discover how you can easily fix or repair a cracked Lexan RC car body in just 3 minutes of your time. It really is quite simple to do, watch and see. All you need is a cracked lexan RC body, fiber tape (it's used in dry walling and can be found at most any hardware store or online), E6000 or Shoe Goo adhesive (many other flexible adhesives will also work, FLEXIBLE is key, so experiment with what you've got and see if it works) and rubber gloves to keep your hands clean. Someone will likely point out that this method isn't quick because of the drying time required for the flexible adhesives. The adhesives do require time to fully cure, however the fix itself only takes a few minutes. Since most of our RC's sit on the shelf for periods of time between uses, this point seems moot. Obviously if you break your lexan body and require an instant fix to get back in the race or on the trail immediately, this fix isn't for that situation. In that case gorilla tape or duct tape would be great options for a temporary solution. If you have any questions or an alternative way to fix a cracked lexan RC car body please share it down in the comments so we can all learn more together.

That was so helpful. I have an orange BMW E30 body from an HPI RS4 kit that has a crack. It’s still in good shape besides that crack. I’ll give this a try

Great tips! I use straight shoe goo and it holds great without the fiber tape!

TJ the rc Guy Good to hear it's working. I tend to prefer the added strength of the fiber but I can be hard on the lexan bodies so in my case I'll probably always use the fiber tape. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. 👍👍

It will depend on the severity of the damage but it’s definitely a cheap experiment since the supplies needed to try it are readily available online, in local hardware stores and most home improvement stores. If you need it to be sturdier you could layer a couple strips of recycled plastic in with the fiber tape.

Those hands don't look like they've seen a real day of work ever. As far as drywall tape and goo it's a waist of time just get fiberglass reinforced tape it's an instant fix and you can put multiple layers on for even stronger repairs.

The tape and goo has held up good for us but it's only one method. There's a variety of ways to fix cracked or broken RC plastics. I've never used the fiber reinforced tape like you suggest but I imagine it does a fine job. As for the hands, I don't see the relevance but I've been out of the manual labor game for quite a while due to a Nerve disease, before that I worked for a longtime in a factory that produces cast iron truck and tractor parts.

Nerve disease. What like your brain is burned out on one side or you can't get a boner anymore? You get all twitchy and flop around on the floor? I need help figuring this out I see people all the time that are "disabled" and can't work but have no problem building a deck off the back of there house. Weird how disability works that way.
