What's the difference if you use detail preserving upscale?

detail preserving upscale is for scaling up individual pixel-based layers. It doesn't help when scaling down and it doesn't affect the comp dimensions
thanks boss , what about the length of the comps ... if we need to increase the comp and pre-comps time
