@@DianeAntoneStudio I love seeing comments like these. I too am one who retired at the start of the pandemic, February 2020 and your tutorials taught me not only how to watercolor in a more professional way, but helped me through the loss of losing my younger sister and her husband from Covid in March of 2020. You are touching lives so positively in more ways than you will ever know. xo

Thank you for the video Diane. I, too, love books and bookmarks. I like the tactile qualities. I know it sounds weird, but having a book in my hand is quite comforting for me. I always look forward to your videos, and I am rather fond of hearing Gabrielle.

Hi Diane and thanks for your thoughts… are you like me - I have never been far from having a book in my hand or beside me since I learnt to read at age 2, so I suppose Kindle seems a bit foreign, although if I were away from my library of real books I would certainly use digital ones! Glad you don’t mind Gabriel. He is a noisy chap!

That was lovely, Diane as always!!! I enjoyed listening while challenging myself with a small sketch book from the second hand store. It's handmade paper is only good for dry mediums. But it's less intimidating to me to play with today. Not sure if I've said this already, but I hope you and your loved ones, ( the 2 leggeds, 4 leggeds, & winged included), have a healthy, peaceful, and happy 2023!!! And to this entire community, too!!! Gratitude, and hugs!! Susan ☮️🌏🎆🐾🙏🕯💐💜🤗

This is really lovely,Diane. I love book marks. I like to have them in my watercolor books and my sketchbooks, and even magazines. As an ex-English teacher and lover of all things paper,I swore up and down I would never read on an electronic device. Well never say never. My husband gave me my first Kindle years ago,and the rest is history. The new Kindles do not have blue light so it neither bothers my sleep nor my eyes. I buy books whenever I want including two in the morning. And I have three English dictionaries, two Spanish and one French dictionary so I look up words instantly and sometimes for the sheer pleasure of it. I can add notes within my books, underline passages, and all without a pen or highlighter in sight and it weighs ounces;a necessity for these old bones. Kindle, that was free advertising. You owe me a book!

Hi Angie, thanks so much for your lovely comment.. I have a new Kindle too, from last Christmas, and I do use it quite a bit, so I know what you mean. They are amazing technology aren’t they, and so good if you have to travel or leave your books behind. I’m a language fan too, and love to look words up, but I still turn to my very old and heavy dictionaries. I should update myself!
I like to make bookmarks that say « Please return to Amanda « on the back. I put them in every book I loan out.

Should I spray these with some sort of fixative?
@DianeAntoneStudio
Жыл бұрын
To protect them? Yes, if you like you could spray them with a polyurethane fixative like they use on pastels. Or you could use Mod Podge thinly watered down. I don’t usually seal mine, but it’s not a bad idea if they are likely to receive a lot of use!
Diane would this have been a good one to use that frisket I think it's called on the flowers to keep them white?
@DianeAntoneStudio

Yes, it would be a good idea to use masking fluid. I didn’t because it does add to the length of time you need to do the painting. But yes, it makes it easier to do the background. Thanks so much for mentioning it!
I think these are gorgeous. My sister in Nova Scotia is having a Birthday at the end of the month - I am going to try these on her Birthday Card. I am facing an issue that I have a bunch of papers with watercolour paintings on them that I wouldn't sell - and a bunch of sketch books filled with watercolours.
