    the French subjunctive mood is very difficult for Americans to understand. the explanations we are frequently given are tedious and confusing. Virginie, in her inimitable fashion makes it easy to understand. and her attractive and engaging personality make it all enjoyable!

    thanks for the video! it's very useful! But I have a question about the phrase "a moins que" which is in your video 5:59, in english it's "you speak", in french "tu ne parles", is it a typo? Or we have to use negative expression when we use subjonctif tense and the phrase "a moins que" together? thanks for your explanation in advance!

    No it is not a typo. We use a negative expression for exemple: " A moins que tu n'avances... " =( unless you move on...) I hope you understand what I wrote I'm not English..

    Just one thing: It should be "...that he apoligize" in the subjubctive. That he apologizes in using the indicative. In English, the subjunctive form is that in the dictionary entry.

    Subjunctive Present= 3인칭 복수 어근 + -e,es,e,ions,iez,ent이지만 발음 변화는 의외로 간단하고 1군 동사의 경우는 nous, vous의 경우에만 어근 뒤에 i 추가 penser, croire, esperer, trouve 들은, 긍정문에는 indicaf / 부정문에는 subjonctif 사용 * tu est -> tu soit

    I thought il est became c'est when it meant it's. Eg, c'est possible que ?? Also, as a Spanish teacher I see my students struggle with the subjunctive too. Spanish use the subjunctive for so many weird things. Ella esta' acostumbrado a que tu' no siempre estes preparado. I truly dont understand why the subjunctive is needed in that clause lol.

    Must = devoir (present tense) I must leave. Je dois partir. You must help me. Vous devez m'aider. Should/ought to = devoir (in the conditional) I should/ought to leave soon. Je devrais partir bientôt. You should/ought to help me. Vous devriez m'aider. I have to= I must, I am obliged to) je dois + [infinitif] I have to go now, or I'll miss my train. I don't want to go but I have to. Je dois partir maintenant ou je vais rater mon train

    Hahaha you know what I always did keep the British "example" I don't know why! I lived in the UK for 7 years before making it to the US and some things I never let go off for some reason! Like "till" instead of "cashier". I just came back from a vacation week in London and everyone there thought I was American :-)

    La vidéo était très très utile comme toujours.. mais je pense qu'aussi en français 'que' peut être omis dans la conversation courante comme il le fait en anglais..??? par exemple: I want her to leave, on peut justement dire je veux tu partes(Dans langage courante seulement bien sur )??? Ou C'est bizaare en francais??? J'suis curieuse....!!!

    A small thing: You misspelled "judgment". Yes, I know, I've made this mistake many times too, since "judgement" seems correct. But there is no "e" in the middle...

    I've only ever known it as "judgement". A quick check on Word Reference shows that (I think) judgment is American English and judgement is British English.

    This was not helpful in the least. You didn’t explain how to conjugate verbs in the subjunctive and half your sentences were wrong because you didn’t conjugate the irregular verbs correctly. Complete waste of 10 minutes.

    I didn’t understand the video, AT ALL -cause you failed to define subjunctive & indicative mood. you assume, instead, your viewers have a great grasp, already, of English & French grammar. I don’t care for that...

    You are absolutely right, I did assume people knew the difference between indicative and subjunctive :-) but I'm also sure you can find a video that will teach you that and then complete with this one :-) one short video is never going to cover every single question that may come to mind, it's just part of a learning path.

    I have not yet made such a video but you are definitely giving me an idea :-) La différence entre indicatif, conditionnel, impératif, subjonctif, etc. In the meantime, I would just type in google: difference between indicative & subjunctive in French :-)
