Quick & Easy Custard Tarts | Using Phyllo Pastry ~ Scrumptious!

Here's a quick and easy recipe for custard tarts using Phyllo Pastry dough. They are not too sweet, the filling is light and creamy, and the pastry is so crispy. These custard tarts look great, taste amazing, and are so quick (and incredibly easy) to make! I think they resemble the Portuguese Pasteis de Nata...which are one of my favourite pastries. I hope you give this simple and delicious recipe a try, and let me know what you think.
INGREDIENTS
For Tarts:
1 tablespoon (15 g) Butter (melted)
454 g Phyllo Pastry dough (thawed) ~ I used 5--6 sheets per batch
For Custard Filling (makes 1 batch):
2 cups (500 m) Milk
1/2 cup--2/3 cup (100--130 g) Sugar ~ (sweeten to your taste, I prefer using 2/3 cup)
3 Eggs
2 tablespoons (15 g) Cornstarch
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
INSTRUCTIONS:
~ Brush muffin tin(s) with melted butter. Divide Phyllo Pastry into 5 or 6 sheets per batch. Roll out on lightly floured surface to smooth. Using a large glass or cup (I used a large jar lid), cut-out circles of dough. Place them in bottom of muffin tin(s) and press to the edges.
~ Mix the custard filling and pour into each muffin tin. Repeat to make another batch of custard filling if using entire package of Phyllo Pastry dough.
~ Bake in preheated oven at 400 degrees F. for 20 minutes, and then turn down to 350 degrees F. and bake for another 10 minutes until pastry is browned and custard is set. Times are estimate and will depend on your oven.
NOTE: One batch of the Custard Filling makes approx. 12 custard tarts.
Two batches of the Custard Filling makes approx. 22 to 24 custard tarts.

I absolutely L♥VE Portuguese Custard Tarts from the bakery....and here's a fast method to make something very similar at home. I think they are pretty and so delicious, but let me know what you think. The recipe is posted in the Description Box.

Thanks for your comment! Yes, if you do not turn down the heat for the last 10 minutes, they will burn. Glad you tried the recipe again and they turned out good the last two times! They are delicious.👌😋
