This is a video about my trip to Miami last week and seeing Gino Vannelli's first concert back after 3 1/2 years! He was great and the whole trip was so much fun! Also got to do some digging for records at Lucky Records in Wynwood district of Miami and found a sealed "grail" Ive been looking for years!

I was outside the Ft. Lauderdale theatre the night of the GINO VANELLI concert. It is the PARKER PLAYHOUSE. When I found out that I couldn't go, I was very disappointed to tears. I even asked if I could sit outside the theater and hear the concert in the back. They told me that I wouldn't be able to hear it outside, so I just left. God bless you Gino and Mrs. Vanelli. May the LORD GOD YESHUA CHRIST, KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS BRING LIFE, HEALING, WISDOM, JOY, LAUGHTER AND PEACE TO YOU MRS. VANELLI IN JESUS MIGHTY NAME. AMEN. I too believe in natural medicine, vitamins, herbs that GOD gave us, minerals, nutraceuticals, good diet, clean water.
Some of Gino's songs simply cannot be replicated by other singers....and they know it. They truly belong to Gino only.
I've been a fan of Gino since the 70's and finally had a chance to see him live in Cincinnati last weekend. He put on a fabulous show! Not only was his music great but he added some nice personal stories during the concert which added a nice touch. Gino is an incredible talent!
Awesome video on your experience. Love how you explain so well what Gino is all about. Brilliant musician. Wish I could have gone. Sorry I missed you this time! Your video quality looks great btw.

Thanks Victory! I’ve got to get another one from my friend who I stayed with in Miami! He likes to fight for what is right!
I've been a huge Gino fan since I was a kid also. I played Powerful People to death when it came out. One of my favorites over the years has been Inconsolable Man. I've seen him twice. The second time was in a smaller venue. He would stop after a few songs and tell the audience a story or two. Get a few laughs. It was the most personable concert I've every been to. I have all of his vinyl and a few CD's. I don't know much about his recent work. I just wish he'd release more of his albums on vinyl.

Yes, everyone who sees him live, becomes a super fan! It’s hard not to be because his charisma and his musicianship is infectious! He told a few stories, and he did at least one song off of every album that he’s done including a brand new song I have never heard! I have 26 albums of his all different variants And promos of each one! I actually have him sign my pauper in paradise, and gist of the Gemini promos! He couldn’t rave been nicer! Shockingly he is 71 and was worried he may not tour again! So I was so glad I went again!
I agree with a previous post that the recent rendition of “Love of My life” is not the same. I understand that Gino needs to update his classics to keep him interested. I first saw him in 1975 at Mr. Kelly’s in Chicago and then in Indy, and lastly in Chicago when he was in front of a huge crowd . I appreciate his music; he is a genius. I just love hearing his original music. Thank you , Gino, for your music. I listen to you almost every night.
Another great video Matt! I wish I could have been at that concert. I really like Gino's music. It's awesome that you were able to get the two white label promos signed. Looking forward to some more amazing content.

Glad you enjoyed it!
He sounds great. I just don’t like how he’s turned all of his songs into heavy jazz songs. He’s taken awesome, beautiful, haunting melodies and completely overhauled them, almost to the point of being unrecognizable. So much jazzy instrumentals mixed in. He even sings them very differently. Such a pity! He’s a true genuis and I love him. I just don’t enjoy the new creations like I did and still do enjoy the incredible originals. And I know I’m not alone feeling this way. Not everyone is into the heavy jazz sound.

I totally understand! I just want to stop, is probably the closest one to the original of everything that he played in concert! Everything else was rearranged
Ginos vocals are incredible!! So good!
Been a huge a Gino since I was young drummer! I've seen him twice! So professional, always sounds great!

Me too! Seen him twice! I’m a bass player so understand how amazing his rhythms have always been! Glad you and I still love live and analog music!
Been a Gino fan since i was a kid as well. He's a family favorite artist. I have VIP Meet & Greet with Soundcheck access tickets for his upcoming show here in Cincinnati that will be in a very small intimate venue. Should be a very good show with some great memories. I want that Cannonball album! Love it!

He’s probably going to play the same set that I shot down in Fort Lauderdale! Watching those clips you should get a good understanding of what your show is going to look like! I certainly wish I was up there, and I would go again! Thanks for the Sub!
Gist of the genimi awesome brother to brother,,,wilderness ,,,gino is da man....my concert dream is ambrosia with gino ...BLACK CARS DONT GET HOT IN THE SHADE.
The fact that Gino is a premo Canadian keeps me warm through Canadian winters..his music is otherworldly and l don’t see that ever changing..🇨🇦
GOD BLESS GINO VANELLI.
While I was in high school in the ‘70s, I would hear Gino on FM, progressive new music on a new venue, FM. Beautiful music to this day, and into the distant future, to be sure. Every album of his has monstrous hits, just ask the under 30 year olds. And thank you for the video. Appreciate you.

Powerful people was the first released in Toronto I believe. He wasn’t in am stations in Canada until Gist I believe. Whatever it was he was and is still the man. If Gino has the time to review our discussions, please say hello.
Gino is so talented and handsome!
Gino's wilderness album he varied his tambre to accommodate his vocal range due to age and much Devine works....gino is my favorite all time performer.

Hey Matt - Just picked up Gino’s Nightwalkers for $5 at the record fair on Saturday. Stone cold mint copy. Also picked up Joni Mitchell’s live Shadows and Light with Jaco backing her. Cheers.

Seeing him in concert after all these years is “otherworldly”! Having a quick conversation with him as he signed my records was like an out of body experience!
I studied Bass guitar under the wise teachings of Damian Erskine we were talking today about the upcoming Gino shows. Going to see them in PA in September

Thanks Tom! I get lots of attention out in public! All of it positive! I’m sure a few people despise it but honestly, I get so many compliments on it. It’s incredible!
We have the same musical taste. Tho a huge Gino fan, never seen him in concert. Still on my bucket list 30 years later. A bass player I once worked with, left our Seattle based group to join Vannelli and his brother in Montreal as one of his concert sidemen. Several others you mention here I've seen, including Bobby Caldwell and his daughters.

What a thrill that had to be! I am a bass player too! If you check out my channel I have many clips one of the last concerts Bobby Caldwell ever did where he signed my Fender Jazz Bass! Such an amazing artist and like Gino never got their props except from musicians like you and I! Thanks for checking me out!
Hi Matt. The Gino V concert was chill. I have Powerful People but that's where I stopped. My older brother listened to him and I always liked a couple songs from that album. I never put his band in the fusion genre. After listening to his band before he sings at this concert I understand your fusion moniker. I was an early commenter on your Jaco presentation. I think it's creative ✅, complimentary ✅, and I hope it qualifies for your consideration ✅. 😆 Of course you know where I am on Jaco. Cheers 🥂 Greg

Go check out Gist of the Gemini and Pauper in Paradise and Storm at Sunup! You definitely won’t be sorry! I have 26 album by this man and I have followed him and his career since I was 14 years old! There’s nobody more fusion than he is as he melted, jazz Pop rock and classical altogether! On Pauper in paradise, he wrote, arranged and directed the Royal Philharmonic, and he was only 25 years old! All of his albums have been masterfully, mastered and recorded by some of the greatest in the history of the medium! That in itself is a testament to his work! Storm is sun up is the first album I ever got when I was 14 years old and Gino was 24! He is now 71 and I am coming up on 61! I can’t wait to hear back from you when you listen to his work hopefully the ones that I have suggested! Also, his latest one was called wilderness road and it’s almost all acoustic Jazz

I agree with you, and he definitely has kept his vocal range intact to the most part! There’s no question that he has done this on purpose with exercise of his range and his larynx!
Eu queria saber da história desse cantor em português
I'm too much of a traditionalist & don't like the changes he's done to existing songs. When I pay $ to see a concert, I want to hear the songs I love, not something I can't even recognize. I'm a big fan of GV & do like some of his newer jazzy songs. I just can't handle "ruining" the songs of my youth. What a bummer. And, I have the Cannonball Adderley album, from the time it was new!

I totally understand what you’re saying, but I think the arrangements are better suited for his age! I realize my own vocal range has changed quite a bit from when I was in my 20s and I believe that’s what he has done! Thanks for watching!
Since you choose to send a message with you cap, I have one for you: four indictments, 90+ criminal charges.

You obviously must be like what your name is Winehouse drunk if you don’t think for one second that this could happen to you! They can make up whatever they want trying to eliminate a political opponent was done by Stalin, Hitler, Mao, and almost every other dictator on the planet! They fear Trump for one reason! He doesn’t go along with their plan to fuck us up! He is an anti-government dissident on purpose! He’s fighting for us, and if you don’t get that you might as well pack your bags and move to Venezuela! I’m not going to play games with you back-and-forth on my feed! Love Gino Vannelli ( and his changing the songs more for his age ), Jaco Pastorius was unstable, but an incredible bassist , but absolutely hate Donald Trump ! Let me ask you , if you had a young child , would you want him to grow up 'just like' Donald Trump ?
What does Ultra Maga mean ????

You must not be American! What Ultra Maga refers to is the half of Americans that don’t agree with Joe Biden and side with President Donald Trump! The term ultra Maga was coined by fake President Biden!
