Quick change tool holders part 1.

Ойын-сауық

After making some handles for the tailstock, the Celtic 14 is finally operational. Exept that I need some quick change tool holders...
Perfect job for the shaper.

You've got a good heart, man. People see that and appreciate it, so I'm not surprised that people want to share with you. You can never have enough tool holders for a tool post, so hopefully these ones, when completed and left in a drawer long enough, result in more little tool holders popping up! 😁

Hi Rusti, looking forward to seeing you make these, great work so far. Not wanting to repeat what others have said but a disinfect of the tank, pump and pipework is necessary once you have a machine in that state with bacteria. What I will also give you from my experience is, you never get a machine back to new condition in terms of coolant life once they have reached this state, even with disinfectant and biocides, it will be a constant fight. My advice would be to make a new tank out of a 25 litre oil container and just re-route the return pipe into it. Use new pipework, and a low voltage pump too. Hope this helps. Cheers, Jon.

It's always a bummer when you have to turn large amounts of material into swarf, that's when I bite the bullet and get out the angle grinder and one of those 1mm blades you received as a gift and hope the mongrel thing doesn't bite me. Glad to hear that dear old Dad was suitably impressed by his birthday wishes, it is 30 years I think this year since my Dad died. 👍

good video rustinox hello good night Your problem with coolant is solved by using synthetic coolant that does not decompose and does not breed bacteria, which are what cause that unpleasant smell. The Castrol brand and any other well-known brand have synthetic coolants...on the other hand, I would like to tell you that you also have to first decontaminate the inside of the coolant tank and for that you must add diesel and leave it for a week and then empty the diesel and clean the interior, all the best you can... I tell you all this from experience... greetings from Asturias, Spain Michael.

You must place an Air pump in the cooling tank of an aquarium. The oil floating on the water seals the top of the cool water. This causes the coolant to deprive itself of oxygen and rot. Install a air pump and everything is solved . Greetings François from the Netherlands Problem solved.

For infrequently used machines I find water based collants to be real problem (both getting nasty and the evaporated water condensing and causing rust). I would suggest using straight cutting oil, it doesn't cool as well but it is much better than nothing and can sit for years without issue.

I made a little tool and cutter grinder for end mills - I found that cheap tungsten tipped wood blades used slowly in the mill as slitting saws, saved a lot of swarf on the floor. It also provided a lot of little useful blocks of metal. This is not my idea, a useful idea thrown up by google. I thought I might pass this little pearl of info on. Good onya

That parting tool would have cut the excess off that plate and you would still have a useful offcut left instead of a mountain of chips
