    I picked up a bunch of dry, air dried wood from a club member who is retiring and it seems to just turn different than the kiln dried wood I've been using for boxes. The kiln dried cherry I have been using tears out whenever I even think about scraping. But this cherry I got from the club turns like a dream and is shiny off of the tool. Am I insane or is this a known thing? Great little box by the way!

  • @tomislavtomasicwoodturning

    @tomislavtomasicwoodturning

    Жыл бұрын

    Thank you Matthew, no you are not insane, kiln dry stuff can be brittle, it had to do with forse drying..... I try to avoid if I can kiln dry wood as it does not work all that clean from tool..... With air drying,there is a longer drying time but well worth it....

    @@woodbutcherjc not silly question, I never clean them but I do use between sharpening a used 240grit sandpaper to polish a bit of flute near cutting edge.... You might use timbers that stick to metal more then others.... example is plum, atleast ones I have here likes to stick on gouges and its hard to clean....
