I am an American and I don't understand how the English use custard powder. I bought some Bird's custard powder and made the recipe on the package, and it was really terrible! Nothing like an american-style custard that taste like a mild, milky eggnog. What on Earth do you do with this type of custard? She said to eat it with some different things like biscuits (cookies in the US). So, what do you do, just dip them in and take a bite of your biscuit?

I should have watched this video before I wasted so much of my mix. Thank you for the straight to the point instructions

I never heard of it before and then I saw it on Amazon, so I thought I'd try it. I love an american-style custard that's very rich in milk and tastes like eggnog, but this type of custard is very different. I'm going to have to try it her way because using the recipe off of the package, it was terrible.

Depending on how they like custard, like me I make 2 tablespoon of custard powder for my consumption only. So I will say 10 tablespoon for 5 people

Does this method has something to do with lactose intolerance, or fresh milk not being available, or do you just like it that way?

For myself: 3 cups milk, 1 cup half and half, 1.5 cups sugar. Bring to boil. 1 cup water mixed with 4 TB birds custard powder. Add to milk. Continue heat until desired consistency. Recommend to have it on thicker side if adding any fruits (tastes great with apples. Add fruit after custard has cooled completely.)
