Questions I had as an American applying to UK universities: answered
Hi! I'm Madi. This is my first video, so don't mind the awkwardness. These are answers to questions I had before applying to UK unis, which weren't answered all in one in any videos I found, so I made one myself! Also, youtube was being annoying with time limits, so some of the clips are sped up to 1.25x with the pitch preserved if any of the audio sounds funky, that's why!
I will study at the University of Edinburgh for their MA English Lit and History bachelors this fall. I plan to document the move-in process, including visas, flights, shopping vlogs/hauls, and meeting new people!

What would I put for grades if I’m applying from my first year at an American college? Would I put below honors level qualifications and then put a levels?
I'm interested in majoring in the same subjects as you! Are there any activities or ECs related to those subjects you did that you think made you stand out in admissions?

ECs and those sorts of things don’t always make you stand out the same way it would on an American application. I really didn’t do much in high school outside of just the classes I was registered in but I made sure to emphasize my independent learning style and how I engage in learning in my own time as well.
I feel like she just wants to verbally process about how chuffed she is to be going to school in the UK. 90 percent irrelevant personal information to sift out a few moderately useful facts.

Not until April 22😭 it was a whole 6 months waiting I was so anxious about it
If you don’t mind me asking what were your stats? Like GPA, AP scores, etc. Edinburgh is my dream school

Hi! my gpa was a 3.65 unweighted and 4.2 (I think) weighted. I got a 29 as my highest overall act score but my superstore was a 31. For ap's all they asked of me was a 4 on English lit, which is the score I ended up getting. other Ap's I took and their scores are the following: Euro 2 (was the 2020 test cycle), Psych 5, Lang 3, Spanish Lang 3, Bio (didn't take test just the class 2021 cycle). I took the following my senior year and thus didn't have the scores for these when I applied: Lit 4, World history 4, Spanish Lit 4, Gov 4. You definitely do not need like Ivy level grades or anything to be able to get an offer and the highest they will likely ask for an ap score for humanities degrees is a 45 on lit. if you are interested in science degrees they usually want a 4 or a 5 on Calc AB and generally a 4 on any of the applied sciences like chem, physics 1 and c, bio.
